It's almost been two years for me. I absolutely feel the first guy. But I gotta say, I kinda envy the terms they ended on. There are some people who you just can't get over. If the times were great, if you changed each other for the better, or in my case, they hit me where it hurts over and over again. My most recent ex girlfriend broke me hard, sent me a list of things she disliked about me, made me believe that the whole thing was my fault (and I still kinda believe it is), and her last words to me were "We can't be friends, and I hate you." It broke me, and pushed me to go into a massive reflection and reformation. I've been tackling everything bad about myself, and making myself a better man than I could have imagined myself being. I met my current closest friends, made connections with people who helped me excel in everything I do, and best of all, I'm feeling good again. I'm still not ready to date, I'm not healed, and I'm still afraid of getting close with someone in that way, but I'm definitely in a better place than I was. So, to my ex, if you read this, thanks for breaking my heart. It's the best thing, and the only good thing, you ever did to me.

Not gonna lie. I had a break up a while back that was both great and horrible. It turned my life around (mostly) but it also led to so many insecurities and lots of sadness and depression. I’ll never be whole, but it doesn’t mean I have to be broken.

As I spoke to my Ex, and split up with him, I let him time to message me again. But after that message and my respond, I blocked him. But only on the main messenger. It's a kind of self protecting. He had my phone numbers and could message through fb. But I'm glad he didn't, because I don't want to be his friend. There happened to much stuff that still triggers my anxiety and causes bad memories. Still trying to let go of these, after now almost two years.

Yes... I sometimes start overthinking things and get very anxious bc I just never really replied back. I saw no point to reply. I just hope I am not remembered in a bad way. This person wanted me to go away and as hard it was I just had to accept it. I guess I did the right thing. It still makes me anxious to think what if I could have done something differently. I have stopped myself from reading old messages. It hurts too much. Based on how the last convos were, you could tell he didn't want to talk to me anymore... So I guess he is happier now that I am gone. But yeah... the last texts still haunt me to this day and give bad anxiety.

Yep, received one about two months ago. I'm in a new relationship. I pretty much screenshot it. It was pretty pathetic. He said that he needed to talk to me and that he hasn't been able to stop thinking about me after we broken up and that he misses my kisses and me. I show it to my now boyfriend. We just posted pictures kissing each other. I know that's cruel but this dude cheated on me. It seems that he have me on his phone cause I can see him checking out my pics.
This was really sad. You can see how technology doesn’t allow for us to see the person we’re speaking to and know the kind of impact we’re making. There’s a lot of unresolved pain here. If you work through your pain, you can come out of the other side understanding your ex, you don’t have to be with them, but you can speak to them and be a good ex, regardless of what happened. Just lots of inner work that everyone avoids.
I cant stay friends with an ex. I don’t think it’s healthy in any way, at least for me. One of my 2 exes did try to remain friends, but I couldn’t do it. And I’m the one that broke it off, he did nothing wrong. My 2nd ex did everything wrong, absolutely horrible cheating boyfriend, he broke it off and blocked ME. I’m glad he did. For me, zero contact is best. It’s absolute torture at first, like withdrawals from a person, it was horrible for like 3-4 months. Then every day it got easier. 1 year later I met my now husband and we have been together for 10 years 💜

I dated my best friend of 5 years (at the time) and then two weeks later, it ended cause he emotionally cheated on me pretty much (started liking someone else and putting her first instead of me when I told him something wasn’t right about her) and yeah... the day after he broke up with me, he immediately started dating her when he knew I was very emotional about everything and tried to force me to be friends with her when I never liked her in the first place. In the end, he called me a manipulator just because I said my truth to what happened, and he eventually started cutting off ties with me and just never wanted to talk to me again... I still had happy pictures of us on my laptop and seeing them made me feel empty so yeah... 😪 either way, I lost about five of my (ex) best friends over the same thing which hurt so much more even tho I expected it to happen with it but yeah. 😒
Me too! It’s not weak like these idiots are saying. It’s healthy to block people because they are in the past, they’ve done us wrong, we forgive but that doesnt mean what they did was erased, it doesnt mean someone is not toxic anymore, we can forgive knowing this person is toxic but we move on with our lives meeting new and better people and leaving who wronged us in the past were they belong.
I just deleted everything yesterday after holding on for 7 months! Deleted all the pics, messages, voicemails EVERYTHING! After a conversation with my cousin who happens to be his barber. Praying to God for healing and the strength to move forward!
Hope you're doing better! I went through the same process. Took months before I was able to send back all the things he gave me. Some days he still pops up in my head and it still hurts. But I learned that if the other person isn't missing me, I shouldn't be missing them. Wishing us both luck girl!

It's better to just delete their number and block them. A destroyed relationship is the hardest thing to fix, and even if you do there will still be cracks. Sometomes its just better to appreciate the experience and learn from mistakes. Nothing lasts forever.

Couldn't have said it better. Tried multiple times trying to make a toxic relationship work and finally ended things fir good yesterday. I was given a million reason to stay and work things out but I should have seen that it was just a lesson for me to learn. Some things aren't meant to be forever and that's okay. Take your L, move on and focus on bettering you.

For some time...then I realized just thinking about her brought me pain. So I did what I always do when it comes to those who have hurt me. I cut all ties. We need to remember our happiness matters as well. And stop trying to make everyone else happy because in reality that’s impossible. So no need to waste your time on things you simply can’t control. Do I miss her? Yes but I think it’s the idea of having that ‘special someone’. Someone you you can share your life with and have a meaningful relationship. How about you? There are some people who you just can't get over. If the times were great, if you changed each other for the better, or in my case, they hit me where it hurts over and over again. My most recent ex girlfriend broke me hard, sent me a list of things she disliked about me, made me believe that the whole thing was my fault (and I still kinda believe it is), and her last words to me were "We can't be friends, and I hate you." It broke me, and pushed me to go into a massive reflection and reformation. I've been tackling everything bad about myself, and making myself a better man than I could have imagined myself being. I met my current closest friends, made connections with people who helped me excel in everything I do, and best of all, I'm feeling good again.
I'm still not ready to date, I'm not healed, and I'm still afraid of getting close with someone in that way, but I'm definitely in a better place than I was. So, to my ex, if you read this, thanks for breaking my heart. It's the best thing, and the only good thing, you ever did to me.

There happened to much stuff that still triggers my anxiety and causes bad memories. Still trying to let go of these, after now almost two years.

Yes... I sometimes start overthinking things and get very anxious bc I just never really replied back. I saw no point to reply. I just hope I am not remembered in a bad way. This person wanted me to go away and as hard it was I just had to accept it. I guess I did the right thing. It still makes me anxious to think what if I could have done something differently. I have stopped myself from reading old messages. It hurts too much. Based on how the last convos were, you could tell he didn't want to talk to me anymore... So I guess he is happier now that I am gone. But yeah... the last texts still haunt me to this day and give bad anxiety.

This was really sad. You can see how technology doesn’t allow for us to see the person we’re speaking to and know the kind of impact we’re making. There’s a lot of unresolved pain here. If you work through your pain, you can come out of the other side understanding your ex, you don’t have to be with them, but you can speak to them and be a good ex, regardless of what happened. Just lots of inner work that everyone avoids.

I cant stay friends with an ex. I don’t think it’s healthy in any way, at least for me. One of my 2 exes did try to remain friends, but I couldn’t do it. And I’m the one that broke it off, he did nothing wrong. My 2nd ex did everything wrong, absolutely horrible cheating boyfriend, he broke it off and blocked ME. I’m glad he did. For me, zero contact is best. It’s absolute torture at first, like withdrawals from a person, it was horrible for like 3-4 months. Then every day it got easier. 1 year later I met my now husband and we have been together for 10 years 💜

I dated my best friend of 5 years (at the time) and then two weeks later, it ended cause he emotionally cheated on me pretty much (started liking someone else and putting her first instead of me when I told him something wasn’t right about her) and yeah... the day after he broke up with me, he immediately started dating her when he knew I was very emotional about everything and tried to force me to be friends with her when I never liked her in the first place. In the end, he called me a manipulator just because I said my truth to what happened, and he eventually started cutting off ties with me and just never wanted to talk to me again... I still had happy pictures of us on my laptop and seeing them made me feel empty so yeah... 😪 either way, I lost about five of my (ex) best friends over the same thing which hurt so much more even tho I expected it to happen with it but yeah. 😒

Just remember...no matter how shitty you feel, you WILL feel better. You may think the pain will last forever, but it wont. You will feel yourself again. It may take months or even years, but it will happen. Trust me

Couldn't have said it better. Tried multiple times trying to make a toxic relationship work and finally ended things fir good yesterday. I was given a million reason to stay and work things out but I should have seen that it was just a lesson for me to learn. Some things aren't meant to be forever and that's okay. So I did what I always do when it comes to those who have hurt me. I cut all ties. We need to remember our happiness matters as well. And stop trying to make everyone else happy because in reality that’s impossible. So no need to waste your time on things you simply can’t control. Do I miss her? Yes but I think it’s the idea of having that ‘special someone’. Someone you you can share your life with and have a meaningful relationship. How about you? Do you feel like you’ve overcome it?
