Marvelous....so good to see so many Gorchov paintings at once🔥💥❌💥🔥...your insightful musings are a plus. Thank you "James" & thank you Kate💙..Oh...what reason was given for taking down the Picaba episode???⁉🤔
The same reason they "terminated" my whole channel last December; "Nudity and sexual content", and this, despite their platform policy that makes allowances for Educational, Documentary, Scientific, and Artistic ( #EDSA ) content" (which is a farce). Still, if you're interested you can go to vimeo and search James Kalm Francis Picabia Femmes, it's a good one.
I wish that large piece from '69 would've been named Deacon Blues. 😉 It's difficult for me to get beyond the fact, that the shape of those canvases resemble the frame of an Eames Lounge Chair Ottoman. Kate, thank you!
UA-cam "terminated" my channel last December (an archive of over 700 programs going back 18 years), and I assume they wiped many subscribers notification mode. Nice to see you're back...JK
@@jameskalm That's terrible to hear, James. Have you been able to restore parts of it from old copies? I've on and off followed your channel for years, but not commented before. If what happened to you had happened to me, I'm not sure I'd be able to return to UA-cam. You're strong to jump back on the bike. Thanks for doing what you do so well for so long, and thanks, Kate.
@@jetsam8073 Yeah, The James Kam Report was "terminated" and I went through hell for three weeks trying to restore the content. The overlords at the big social media platforms blame AI or the algorithms, but they're the people who program them, so they know exactly what they want to happen. I have a lot of the Report content backed up on vimeo, but they have their own problems, and only a tiny fraction of the reach of UA-cam. I'm afraid a lot of this nonsense was due to the election(?) Thank goodness, that's behind us (and thanks for your kind words, I appreciate them)...JK
That's one of the unique things about Gorchov's invention of the "saddle shaped" stretcher. The canvas isn't mounted on anything, it's stretched, but because of the design of the stretchers it has both a concave and convex warp...JK
What a guy. Beautiful work, I loved it especially the gentle pencil lines.❤
Ron Gorchov is someone I know of because of this channel.
So thanks James and Kate. 💕
great video, thanks Loren
Spectacular Art !!!! Thanks Kate.
Great review. Thanks for your insights into Ron’s working process. Always a pleasure
Thank you for this very special one ... and as always, thank you Kate!
So very AWESOME ! Again thanks for showing us older artist not in NYC !
ome 1
I am the only person that doesn't get it.... but good on Gorshov, he has built a following for himself.... thank you for the thorough review.
Love his work!
2024 my very favorite 2 shows.......his Dad and now. Thanks Vito.
Thank you Kate
Thanks James, thanks Kate.
The big, coloured piece is quite interesting because it is quite ambiguous and has a bit of painterly heft, reminds of glazed pottery, but also seeds.
Thank you Kate! ❤
would be fun to see the stretchers without canvas
Extraordinaire mystère / Mystère extraordinaire

Original. Better than a lot of the younger artists.

I've thought the same about parts of that chair each time I see his work.
Steely Dan needs to hear that rendition 😜
Haven't seen you on UA-cam in ages

what are the canvases mounted on plywood ?cardboard? how do they stay curved like that/ I like it.

An amazingly well curated show of really bad painting.
You cannot be serious, even though I know you are.
