Grew up in New England and left for college in the city out west. Then got a job in another major city by the Rockies and now at 29 I feel like nothing would bring me more peace and joy than buying a home such as this and living back home in quaint New England. I think most of us have our moments of “freedom” and want to experience the big city life but shortly after getting married and planning for a family you realize that truly isn’t you, you want peace….and I’m definitely in that old soul wanting retirement journey. And yes, im 29. Beautiful home. ❤
There are so many beautiful old homes on Cape Cod but you don't get to see inside many of them. It is nice that so much of the original home is left and it is not all updated.
What a wonderful tour. I'm appalled that someone would have the hubris to paint over someone else's wallpaper. I love your attitude and approach to life.
That is the sweetest house. Don’t ever think of selling it. You might want to retire there one day. I can’t believe tenants could do such a thing. You must have been devastated. It was such a joy to look over. I loved the woodcocks print and the lovely coloured rug in your living room wit the matching cushion. 🤗
@carol King well we hope we won't have to sell that's for sure, we'll try had to hold onto her but we also have to keep Bunny Hall a float too, so we shall see. We hope we can have a rental season this Summer. That rug was just really for guests so it wouldn't get ruined, with my nicer old rugs and I love my woodcock print, was a gift from hubby for a birthday, I love old things and animal prints, so it was a guaranteed love from me :)
@@DonnaDavisArt Hello again Donna. I just looked up Bunny hall on utube. Is it that beautiful home in England or do you have a house in the USA called that. If it is the one in England I understand. It’s just when I inherited my family home after two years of renting it out my husband encouraged me to sell it. Later I was devastated. I would have liked to return there. Once something goes it is lost forever. However I am a very sentimental person. As a tiny child, if my mother broke something she loved I would cry so much for her .
@@carolking6355 Oh I WISH it was the English Bunny Hall, no we call it bunny hall, partially as a family joke, as the matriarch of bunny hall, my hubby's grandmother, was called Bunny and we always said she ruled over us like toad at Toad hall. HOWEVER we almost lost the place, but we, hubby and I , have found to keep it and it's hard to hold onto, as you can imagine taxes alone...My wish ( a BIG WISH) is to restore it and even add on one day to make it truly worthy of the name Bunny Hall) I am sorry about your house. We almost lost my little vintage cottage built in 1718 as well, as we've had no rental season since the bad times have started, but holding on :) It is hard times, but we can find the silver lining and make it all right.
Oh thank you! I will be sharing more artwork as time goes by, right now I'm trying to get as many outings in for all those who are lockdown while my state is still open :)
First of all, a big CONGRATULATIONS on having over 4,000 subscribers, Donna! Obviously, a lot of us love your gentle charm and the gifts of the sea and Cape Cod you show us. I love your sweet little cottage and can’t wait to stay there sometime and get to get a close up view of your wonderful art.
Thank you so much! I am so happy and also honored that so many have subscribed, hopefully I can keep making things some enjoy anyway, as I've said all along I'll keep amusing myself and see what happens :)
I would have preferred to see the ocean but it's a peaceful and your voice is so soothing..reminds me of dream a little dream..lovely cottage. I can see why you love your cottage so much...
Thank you! 😊 Tho I love hearing the ocean and seeing the boulders in the mist and wonder, ooh what's out there, but I get to see it all the time so I probably think about it differently.
Absolutely love it..all you need is the distant sound of a bouey...hope your able to pick blueberries and wildflowers in the area..don't think I've ever posted in reference to homes but the video had a zen effect for me..thanks.
And I do have that sometimes, the buoy sounds I can hear, it depends on the wind direction and in the high fog I get the fog horns , which is always magical. Thanks for stopping by @Nelson Morrison-Aldrich
I live in a 1940s half cape in New York’s Hudson Valley. It was interesting seeing how the original colonial half cape was layed out. Not to much different except I have a sun porch attached on one side and dinning room attached on the other side. Thank you for sharing !
Good morning, or afternoon, @Phillip Nixon yes, She is a siren that bittersweet, lulling me in with her Autumn song so she can strangle me in Spring with her vining ways. And how are you today?
@@DonnaDavisArt I'm fine thank you Donna. Glad its Friday though and the weekend is round the corner. How are you? You busy filming Sundays video and the spectacular beach light show? :)
Wonderful! Which does make sense @juli beswick-valentine as it was build by English subjects who had that same 'cottage' layout in their mind, only rather than stone (I wish it were stone) they used the wood of the land or, as in my case here, wood from the ships as well.
In the Summer we have more people about in boats and such, but mainly we're a quiet little spot they are usually out further in the sea ,Tho we do see, in the distance, large ships and cruise ships sometimes going through the canal , but I need a proper longer range lens to ever share that, one day :) Thanks for stopping by @Arazhul

I would not have been happy about that!! Thanks for taking us by the seaside, something I'm not able to see everyday. Thank you, Donna for sharing the day with us.
Yes, I was NOT happy, but as it was a dear friend we had let the house to for a year there was nothing I could do . She also painted all the floors upstairs, which you couldn't see as they have inexpensive carpets down for Summer guests, and it was the wrong paint and peels up and such, but Friends are more dear than wallpaper, so I never said a word other than please don't paint anything else :) My dream (besides all the work we have to do at Bunny Hall) would be to strip the upstairs floors to ple like down below and stained and to open the ceiling so all the old beams can shine, but priority now is Bunny Hall. Will never never grow tired of watching.i know this is a past one but im loving them.truly, thankyou Donna so much.well done too.xxx
This cottage is really beautiful. So reminiscent internally of cottages of a similar age here in England although quite different externally. I'm sure you'll have people queuing round the block to rent it next year x
Let's hope @Etholle G as I normally book it in advance, but this year all cancelled due to lockdowns, so we shall see what world we have next year :) And happy to see you here :)
I love the house and the art work. I especially was excited to see the John Singer Sergents print in the living room. As a child I used to go to the Fine arts museum in Boston and this was my favorite.
Lovely views of the cottage and sea fog! I have always wondered how bittersweet grows in the wild and now I know! Seems to be aptly named from your description of what will happen in the spring.
Glad you enjoyed it and yes, you'll see in Spring how it comes to life and will send a 4 foot arm out overnight wrapping and strangling. But, it's Autumn beauty makes up for some of it's bad habits :) We're stuck together, bittersweet and me LOL.
Donna, I found you today and have been catching up on your wonderful videos. I live in a 1756 stone cottage in Maryland which is my dream come true. Both of my parents grew up in New Hampshire, so I have a deep affinity for New England - and I chose Bittersweet as my UA-cam name several years ago. Your channel is bringing me joy! Thank you so much for sharing with us.
@@DonnaDavisArt I'm looking forward to the new vlogs! I hope when spring comes around there will also be some beautiful flowers to view around the cottage :)
Thank you for showing us more of your charming cottage! I love it and look forward to more tours! Such a creative idea on how you displayed the old nail collection. Congratulations on over 4000 subscribers! 🎉
I love what you've done to make small spaces interesting. More fascinating nooks and corners than most houses three times the size. I can see that a lot of living has taken place over the decades. When you re-do the downstairs virtual tour I hope you include the fireplace closet under the stairs.
Yes, it was sad for me too, but what can you do? A lesson in life, seems Life always gives us these lessons of either patience (to wait until I could ever afford to correct it) or to accept (know that my friend didn't do it to harm anyone, and friends are pretty important) Houses, like gardens, teach us these lessons a lot :)
Thanks so much! 😊 I love it as well and it shall be a perfect backdrop for Christmas deco, it usually is, tho I've not decorated it in years, as it is usually rented weekly all Spring-Autumn and then usually during the Christmas Holiday. It's a chance for me to have Christmas with the old gal once again.
Thank you for the tour Donna! Your cape has such charm! And let me say I adore 50s appliances. Does that fridge have a lazy suzan in it? If only our fridges had that. I think it’s genius😄
NO, I wish this one had that , and I know which one you mean. If I ever get to do over the main house Bunny Hall kitchen the way I want, I want to get a vintage fridge like that with the lazy susan. :) I have an old 50's stove I just bought (not sure if you've seen that vlog) but it's in the boathhouse and was for the main house kitchen but now it's going to stay in the boathouse. SO many places to do but really have to pinch every penny so it's a challenge, but fun! Just takes more time and creativity :)
Try putting a little paint stripper on the paint covering the wall paper, then scrape it off after the paint softens; you may be able to reveal much of the old paper. No guarantee this will work but it's worth a try.
I may give this a try one day when I consider that room. I've so many projects in front of that, but I'll surely give it a go, nothing to lose and if I do I'd vlog the success or failure as well :) Thanks for the tip.
Oh good you did hear and see it? It was like a ghost in the mist, they had to go so carefully as the visibility was so low. Another day on the sea :) Thanks for stopping by @Anita Barker
Love your cottage - but what really fascinated me this time are.. the old nails! Amazing. I collect old keys instead :) Your cottage has the heart and soul of the real home that witnessed love and laughter and sorrows and joys of life. Love it xx
Oh thank you! And yes this house has heard my families tears and joys for a number of years and when I think of all the centuries back, those who have loved and hated and laughed and cried in it, you can feel it, I swear, in the old wood of the place :)
Thanks so much 😊 I am trying to get better @Juney my cheap gimbal for my camera helps a bit but it's really hard to use, one day I'll buy a real electronic one and it'll be even smoother :) Goals eh?
So glad to have found your channel. It is just so relaxing to watch. I was on the Cape in the fall of 2019 and hope to make it back soon. Thank you for the love and effort you put into your video journey.
Thank you so much! It seems quiet a lot when I think of it, though not sure if it means that many actually watch? Not really sure how these things work out. I'm happy to slowly grow, and I think this is a good slow growth? Again, haven't a clue. I'm still a minnow in the vast sea of UA-cam, but SO happy to have the followers I do . I LOVE our community so many kind people and really feel a connection with so many like honest 'virtual friends' it's really quiet nice for a bit of an introvert like myself :)
I too, love your cottage. While you were speaking of having many loving holidays & celebrations.... I could feel the warmth inside the cottage. Then right off to the sea and it's mesmerizing sounds. I truly love your vlogs and simple artistic life you have chosen. Please keep sharing. One day in the near future 2021.... I hope to make it up and have a tea with you. Have a beautiful Thanksgiving.
Have a lovely Thanksgiving and let's hope travel could resume who can say in this world. Until then, we at least have our virtual space to meet and chat :)
I've never seen interior windows before, that I can remember, but I'm in love with them! They give a quaint feel. Looking forward to the holiday decorations.
Glad you like them! When I build the walls in the boat house I'm going to use them as well, as I like them, really a great way to share light from other rooms and fun to use.
💕Another mesmerizing piece! The poetic nature of your description of the fog and vines has me feeling blissful! Suddenly Daryl Hannah came to mind, as I watched you drinking tea in front of the water! I wonder if you ever get that..? 💕 Anyway, thank you very much! 💕

Will never never grow tired of watching.i know this is a past one but im loving them.truly, thankyou Donna so much.well done too.xxx
Thank you, really enjoyed this episode. I get lost with the fog and water. The sound is wonderful. Thanks again, God bless
Glad you enjoyed it
This cottage is really beautiful.
Mine as well @Anne Daner I have visited that painting SO many times. When we had our place on Comm ave I used to make it a weekly visit sometimes :)
Cheers!
:)
What an enchanting and calming cottage! Truly gave me some sense of peace :)
Thank you so much @M I love he old cottage. Hopefully, come Spring, we'll be doing more vlogs from there, it needs new fencing and such this year.
@@DonnaDavisArt I'm looking forward to the new vlogs! I hope when spring comes around there will also be some beautiful flowers to view around the cottage :)
4k! Congratulations!
I know it's quite exciting @laReynedEpee I guess I'll keep going :)
I know that’s your favourite thing in so it is it mine the Sandpiper picture in your antiquities
Yes @Simone Mueller I love that print, I almost moved it to our other house but thought the guests would love it too :)
I love your cottage so much! I'm so glad you shared the upstairs, thank you!
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for showing us more of your charming cottage! I love it and look forward to more tours! Such a creative idea on how you displayed the old nail collection. Congratulations on over 4000 subscribers! 🎉
Thanks so much! 😊
What a delightful little house!
I love what you've done to make small spaces interesting. More fascinating nooks and corners than most houses three times the size. I can see that a lot of living has taken place over the decades.
When you re-do the downstairs virtual tour I hope you include the fireplace closet under the stairs.
Thank you very much! Oh and I will, it's not that exciting but it's interesting anyway :)
It looks so charming and cozy🙂
Thank you so much. It is.
Adorable little house.
Thank you so much.
So calming. Love it.
Glad you like it!
Very charming.
Thank you so much.
Thank you Donna. I love the nature scenes you show coupled with your calm voice. Watching your vlogs is a soothing experience.
Lovely, Donna❤
Thank you.
Lovely, Donna. I love the stillness of the fog.
Isn't it calming.
So cute!
:)
I love your 300 yr 0ld house!! So sweet and homey. Can't wait for you to decorate for Christmas.
Me too!!
Love your cottage and the scenery si beautiful.
Perfectly charming cottage. It was heartbreaking to hear the room had been painted.
Yes, it was sad for me too, but what can you do? A lesson in life, seems Life always gives us these lessons of either patience (to wait until I could ever afford to correct it) or to accept (know that my friend didn't do it to harm anyone, and friends are pretty important) Houses, like gardens, teach us these lessons a lot :)
this is lovely, i am sitting here looking out at the snow . thank you
I'm glad you like it and snow, heavens, not yet for us.
Snowing here and 22 degrees! Donna's videos are a wonderful distraction on such a day!
Your cottage is so welcoming, I think it is perfect the way it is. Thank you for giving us a chance to see it. Your camera work was great.
Quickly watching your video before going over to Lalande 😉
Hope you enjoyed it! @Arazhul fun to chat again, it was fun at Lalande today, seeing work getting done is always inspiring.
A totally charming cottage. Love all the personal touches.
Thank you so much.
@@DonnaDavisArt good luck.
I would love that bittersweet!!! Love the interior window!!!
Ha ha you say that until it's choking out your garden :) But, I really do Love it when it behaves :) Thanks for stopping by @Laura Bren
Love your hats! Thank you for the tour of your charming cottage!
You are so welcome! @Linda Flores and thank you, I love hats :)
Charming. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you too!
So pretty. Saw boat and heard it.. Bittersweet is beautiful. Great home tour.
Oh good you did hear and see it? It was like a ghost in the mist, they had to go so carefully as the visibility was so low. Another day on the sea :) Thanks for stopping by @Anita Barker
Loved the upstairs and your artwork!!!! Thanks so much for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Ps, love your hat!
:)
Loved the tour of the cottage and the foggy morning. Your videoing skills are improving-give yourself a pat on the back 💐
Thanks so much 😊 I am trying to get better @Juney my cheap gimbal for my camera helps a bit but it's really hard to use, one day I'll buy a real electronic one and it'll be even smoother :) Goals eh?
So glad to have found your channel. It is just so relaxing to watch. I was on the Cape in the fall of 2019 and hope to make it back soon. Thank you for the love and effort you put into your video journey.
Thanks for sharing!!
My pleasure!!
Hello. That was lovely ! Thanks for the view, too. Keep safe. Blessings ❣💞
Thank you! You too!
Donna, congratulations on 4000 subscribers.
@@DonnaDavisArt Having a like minded community from all over the world is amazing.
Have a great weekend.
First time seeing your channel. What a treat.
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a beautiful gem of a cottage you have there. I think the decor is perfect !!!
Thank you so much!
Love your videos, big hug from Buenos Aires
Thanks so much!
Magical ✨💫✨💜
I too, love your cottage. While you were speaking of having many loving holidays & celebrations.... I could feel the warmth inside the cottage. Then right off to the sea and it's mesmerizing sounds. I truly love your vlogs and simple artistic life you have chosen. Please keep sharing. One day in the near future 2021.... I hope to make it up and have a tea with you. Have a beautiful Thanksgiving.
Have a lovely Thanksgiving and let's hope travel could resume who can say in this world. Until then, we at least have our virtual space to meet and chat :)
Thank you Donna, lovely cottage and vlog x
You’re welcome 😊
Your cottage is so charming! Thx for sharing Donna, always lovely to watch your vlogs

What a cute little cottage, Christmas would seem like a story book setting no wonder you love it.
It really is! We've had some magical Christmas there :)
The Cape is a favorite site of mine. Your small cottage is wonderful ! (Glad I found your vlog via Chat Diaries!)
Oh thank you! and so happy to have you here and welcome @Vino :) I hope you enjoy my little videos :)
Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Always so calming and peaceful. 🦋
Thank you so much.
Love the sweet little cottage! I am looking forward to seeing it all decorated at Christmas time.
Me too!! It's going to be fun.
Sa va sans dire, that's about the extent of my French. Loved seeing the upstairs of King's Cottage.
:)
Lovely tour. Can't wait to see your holiday decorations.
Me too!! It'll be fun.
This was so very thoughtful of you to show us the upstairs and then bring us out for the sounds of the sea! Simply beautiful! Enjoy your weekend! 🌸💠🌸Blessings from Alabama💠🌸💠
Thank you so much! And happy to do so. I wish the cottage was on the sea like Bunny Hall, but it does have a fun little walk down to the Canal, which I shall take you all on one day @Rita W
Lovely tour of the cottage love the interior and the work done.Relaxing vibe I’m sure many a visitor have enjoyed staying.Loved the fog out at sea the birdsong quiet movement of the boat. You live in a special magical setting creativity will thrive there.Love your narrating your voice soothing.Love love it bewitching goddess love your channel catch you over at Lalande❤️❤️👏👏🌺🌺💃🏻💃🏻
Thanks so much @Brenda Mcgee I'm so happy you enjoy my little videos, it really has been fun and a learning experience as well. And yes, inspiration can be easily wrought in this lovely area, I am lucky in that and happy to share with all of you.
Fabulous tour. It was so foggy on Tuesday you could've see the Bragga Bridge here in Fall River MA.
Wow, we've really had some foggy ones, eh? Patty Farghaly I love Fall River too, would love to do some vlogs there in the future, if we ever feel safer to travel a bit further, when the world is a bit more normal. I LOVE the Whaling Museum in New Bedford, so I like to go that area in general.
@@DonnaDavisArt it is really bad here with the virus.I don't even want to go out. The waterfront is coming along nicely. I see where you can now rent out that little lighthouse here again and Lizzie Bordens house on French St is for sale. I lived a few houses down and I've been in it a few years ago. It's beautiful. I love NewBedford too . Have a lovely weekend . 💝💝
the cottage is just so lovely. just discovered your channel. I feel the same about making an early start with Christmas decorations. We all need lots of light and sparkle at this time. I look forward to catching up with your other videos. best wishes and many thanks from Ireland.
Thanks so much! 😊
