- Just a quick edit to show what the "House of the Dragon" opening credits sequence could have sounded like with a 'new'-ish main theme. Tracks composed by Ramin Djawadi. Tracks used:
"Blood of the Dragon" (Game Of Thrones - Season 5)
"Love In The Eyes" (Game Of Thrones - Season 1)
I love the fact they used the original theme but part of me wishes they used the Targaryen theme used at the end of season 6 when Danny crosses the narrow sea. That was stunning.

I'm glad they used the original theme. Its like American Horror Story. Every season is a different story, the title sequence changes,but the music stays the same. It may be a new show, but the overall arching narrative is Game of Thrones. A bad theme can kill a show. I stopped watching Enterprise the minute I heard, "It's been a long time..."
I love the original theme, but this one sounds so much better in my opinion, it’s like a union between the original GOT theme with the Targaryen theme, goes better with the show I think.
As much as I love the GOT theme, this would have been a way better choice.
The theme is too slow to match the animation of the blood flow animatic. It's jarring in fact. 😵💫
Like watching honey bees buzzing around to the Camp Town Lady song. They just don't mesh well.

This is better for "House of the Dragon" soul than the original theme.
Ramin have done many variation of the Targaryen’s theme mixed with the original show’s opening theme multiple times in the original show. They should have have him done a new variation kind of combining the two and used it as the new opening. This was actually really more fitting than straight up just using the same opening theme. Love the original opening theme still though, not dissing.
YES THAT IS WHAT I'M SAYING. it honestly pisses me off SO MUCH they disrespected the Targayean music by just reusing the same damn song without ANY splicing in of their themes.

Oh god, this is a much better choice and fits right with the story since it's fully about Targaryens.
I love the original GoT theme but this fits better for this show. There's also a subtle hint to the GoT theme at the end.

This should have been it imo. The GOT intro is too iconic and its own thing. It embodies the song of ice and fire and what was going in that time period too well. This theme embodies the power of a dragon.

Visually, it's a mess. The point of the opening of GoT was to get a visual understanding of the map of the world. It worked well.
Here, we have a dark and bloody unresolved puzzle. It conveys nothing and it's boring, with the same dark colors.
If it would bring a genealogic tree, or dispatching the members of a house, it would be meaningful, but no.
More or less great for contemporary art, bad for a TV show.
It is really easy to understand tbh, all cogs symbolizes a member of Targaryen family starting with Aegon the Conqueror. You can tell which is which by the symbols on the cogs and the blood symbolizes bloodline. And in the end you can see all those lines comes from a miniature of Valyria where Targaryens come from
@@newbimalfoy9051 Sorry to disagree with you, because on screen, it's not clear. I'm put into a labyrinth, following a trail of blood. If it would have clearly shown a tree, then, I would agree.
As such, the symbols are too small to pop on the image and way too dark.
Finally, the miniature of Valyria is soo dark that I'm confused and still wonder about what I should guess.
Thank you for the explanation, yours is way clearer than what I've been shown. I'm only criticizing what I see, and I don't find it defined.
@@klug5916 You are welcome but no way one can understand the symbolism in this by watching only once, I rewatched at least 3 times and paused/took screenshoots and zoomed in multiple times to see symbols 👍🏻
EDIT: I forgot to add, you also need to read Fire and Blood to get more info about Targaryen family to understand this intro so it is completely normal for a non-book reader to get confused. My dumba-ss always thinks everyone here is a book reader lol sorry

BUT, as it's the opening of a TV show, it should be clear, understandable and immediate. If not, if someone should take all the time like you, then it was not a good result. That's my criticism from the start.
If you compare with the clarity of GOT, which is an amazing opening (visually and musically), in comparison, this opening is not good.
I'm a book reader as well. But again, if you need to have read a book or saga to understand something, then it's a mess. Honestly, I've read some other writings as GOT from G. R.R. Martin, and wasn't blown away.

It's really better like this and I'm sure Ramin Djawadi could have written an other variation of the theme to better match the visuals. Surely a bad decision of the producers.

I'm enjoying the show, but the fact that they decided to just repeat the Game of Thrones theme is so strange to me. Something like this, a Targaryen theme that lightly references the Game of Thrones, seemed like such an obvious, smart choice.
Thank god it appeared again! This is too iconic to be take down by copyright.
This fits, I would have even loved the S1 trailer music. But like most people here, I too think nothing surpasses the original theme.

I abhor the people who decided to use the same theme song instead of doing what I thought they should do (and often sung in the shower): a mashup of this song WITH the original theme. They fit well together. Creativity is dead in Hollywood. First spin-off I've ever seen use the same theme song without any tweaks. It deserved to stand on its own.
Muito melhor! Se tem tema ligado aos Targaryens e é uma série deles, precisa usar o tema. Afinal, é uma série diferente. Mesma coisa desse série que estão falando que vão fazer do Snow precisa ter músicas já criadas pelo música e parte do cânone que já conhecemos. Resumindo, não gostei da mesma música e essa versão é bem melhor. Mas poderia ser outra música também, como Dracarys, fire and blood. Temas mais gerais dos Targaryens.

I think it’s perfect just to use the same theme. It’s a theme that represents the universe and it connects it all. Plus it’s just such an iconic theme, I can’t imagine replacing it. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it

Essa música é da DAENERYS, não de todos os targaryen.

0 :44 It's a 3 sigils . The biggest, teal sigil on the wall represents Corlys . Another sigil on the floor in front of it which is most likely Rhaenys. Those bloodlines meld and go into another sigil, which may represent Laena Velaryon
0:13 is the sister who is Jaeherys I's grandmother
(hence the sequence skipped over Maegor and whoever was the mother)

A bit late to this video’s party but it’s a bit simple for me. It never establishes, never escalates, never crescendos, and didn’t excite. A million times the skill I have seeing as how I am no musician, so it’s a matter of taste not craftsmanship. I do like the GoT theme as identifying the story in Westeros. In reality, it’s a continuous history of the country, continent, call it what you will. The players change but the board (and game) is as old as time. In that respect, I like the same theme. Daenerys certainly tried for the throne to that audio. Again, respect for the creators. My opinion is not fact,although I guess I’m sharing it anyway. Gods be good!

Tenho uma opinião de que todos os spin off que vierem de game of thrones deveriam ter a musica original (com pequenos detalhes) e um inicio parecido com o original (como é o caso deste) que é muito bem feito e cheio de simbolismo ; deveria servir como uma forma de tradição da série (uma vez que a série é cheia de tradições e costumes) .

after listening to the theme for the hundredth time in GOT, one would expect a new opening credits theme for HOD. It's a far higher frequency than star wars.
Massive fan of this. Theme Feels so appropriate for the tone of the show and almost (spoiler alert) indicating the fate of the house of the dragon. With the launch of Season 2 and imo a more visually appropriate intro, I was wondering if you would be able to upload a video of the season 2 intro with this theme, I think if anythign it would fit even better.

A abertura se extende muito, achei sem graça e sem criatividade - não se reinventaram nem na música (poderia ser um segundo tema ou um segundo movimento do original). Prefiro a abertura sucinta do primeiro EP - Foi poderosissima! Sem contar que me economizaria o tempo em que tenho que apertar o botão de "pular abertura" no HBO.
So they are so afraid of loosing viewers that they re-edit the same theme in the actual opening HOSD... So sad, when i great mix could have been made. Like Dynasty and the Colbys a long time ago, sharing a same starting theme. Why not mentionning the Targaryen theme in a speen off about them ? Really weird. Your proposal is more accurate !
