    Stayed at Collier State Park one time, sorry to hear about the fire. Then took a ride to Crater Lake, it was Memorial Day weekend and the snow at the lake was unbelievably so deep it covered the gift shop almost to the roof. Thankful my husband and I were able to share it together because he is no longer with us. Make those memories while you can.

    We've done that ride a couple of times, and it's loads of fun. One especially nice trick if you don't have e-bikes to help you ride back up to the pass is to park a car down below, take the bikes and people up to the top, and then ride down. Then, two people drive back up in the car, pick up the upper vehicle. Then both vehicles come back to the group at the bottom, everyone loads up the bikes and then heads home.

      An interesting ironic twist for Environmental Cathedrals $ Churches: - logging accomplishes two tasks with multiple benefits: 1) remove understory & mature trees for logs, Chip n Saw - BENEFITS open range for wildlife, reduce fire hazard & promote natural reseeding. 2) Natural regeneration provides the opportunity to harvest logs in a natural cycle (which in Texas is approximately every 7 years with a target maturity age of 40-50 years.). Also campers could become like our hunters who are our Security Detail - the there are trail cameras. Foster Lumber & Timber 1879 - 2023 through the doors & closed forever.

    We have done that tunnel 1 million times. Basically we walk it because I rode a bike and I can’t see at night and I could not get a light bright enough but we have ridden our bikes from North Bend all the way up to the tunnel 18 miles one way and it’s a thigh burner we don’t have electric bikes, we have not been to the tunnel this year because of the construction on Highway 18 at Tiger Mountain. And we find the temperature in the tunnel just delightful especially if it’s 90° outside. I never wear a coat we really miss it, we didn’t get to do it this year and by the way I’ve lived in Washington my whole life.

    • @EJS1970

      We watched you ride down a ways after the tunnel over the trestles and said my god you’re gonna have to turn around and ride back. But we remembered you have a electric bikes however, we do not have electric bikes, so we are riding uphill by our own power, and by the way, we’re in our 70s.

    Thank you for your wonderful video full of different impressions! - Two days ago I joined the "cheaters". After many a research I have found the e-bike that will (hopefully) suit MY needs: It is a Riese & Müller Tinker 2 with the Bosch Performance Line (smart sytems) motor and 545 Wh battery, including the Bosch KIOX 300 and the ENVIOLO grip shift, just great! Today's early morning ride was an extreme pleasure. BUT: I will still keep my Brompton for the flatland rides. But my glimpse goes to the Brompton TITAN Carbon bike.

    • @dpd128
      @dpd128 Рік тому

      The extra cost is if you take the shuttle back to the top with your bike. The cost of the trail is 18.00 per person, if you order online. I think it’s 20, if you don’t. We started at the bottom of the trail and rode up. The ride down is easy and you can coast a lot of the way. We had plenty of battery left. And we’re old! Give it another try. It’s worth it.

      Whatever you get, I suggest AWD, although our upgrades have allowed us to do
      lots off backroads. You might want to watch the recent video that Agile off-road did comparing them. The Mercedes is quite capable but has some drawbacks. More and more gas stations are selling B20 instead of B5. You can do a deep dive into that if you like. Diesel fuel in California is about a dollar a gallon more expensive. In some states it might be a few cents cheaper. Maintenance is expensive and if you don’t live in a major metropolitan area, you may find it difficult to get a mechanic. If you are traveling in remote areas, it will be a costly tow to someone who can fix your rig. We steer clear of MB dealers as they are double the cost. We’ve heard people say an oil change is $800. They tried to charge us $100 for 2 gallons of DEF. DEF is another issue and you can go down a rabbit hole on that topic. Ford has a 22’ length. Mercedes only has the 19 or 24 foot length. However, perhaps a bigger issue for you may be the lead time. Don’t know what those are these days. Ford has more head room which John desperately needs. Both vehicles can get suspension upgrades, better tires, rear lockers. All our friends with the Ford love the way it drives. Sure the mpg is lower but when we add in the cost of fuel, DEF, and maintenance, we think it will be a wash. Good luck

    With all of the bike riding that you do, have you found a really comfortable seat? I paid for an upgraded seat on my new ebike but it is not comfortable after about 5 miles. The online reviews make them all sound great. I would appreciate any suggestions. I really enjoy your channel.

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  Рік тому

      I have discovered that it isn’t the padding so much that I need, but more width. I tried about 5 seats when we bought our new bikes. This one is perfect for me. John wasn’t happy with his seat and just purchased the same one. He rode it yesterday for the first time and liked it. It is a specialized seat, called the Cup Gel and is on sale on the Specialized website for $37. Everyone’s rear is different but that is my current recommendation.
