You can also file a civil complaint with your local clerk of courts (no attorney needed). There's usually a dollar limit (I know here in Ohio it's below $3,000). Two words: APPLY PRESSURE! You can still be kind and be firm! Love this happiness and glow for you! Take care, and definitely keep us updated.

I'm learning so much from your wedding and housing update experiences. Trust no one. read the fine print. extensively research everyone you're going to give your hard earned money to. Don't just say "okay" or let stuff slide, especially for us kind-hearted people that can sometimes easily be taken advantage of since we give people the benefit of the doubt. Don't just take people's word for it. Oh and...you can take people to small claims court without a lawyer and use text messages as proof. I did that with someone and the judge garnished their checkes until I was paid back. Look up how the county works in your city. I went to the court office and asked 100 questions and they happily gave me all the info I needed to intiate and prepare for court! Praying for you love!

Add add’l costs for travel if you have to go to court; along with pain & suffering (having to wear shorts/hoodie at reception). Note: you enjoyed the festivities but, you can’t look back at photos of a dress you commissioned for your special day. Should be able to get her info from package, IG or FB! You have all the proof you need. Don’t let her get away with only paying you half! If I can sue Pepboys for ruining my vehicle & win, you can sue an individual for breach of contract. Just remember, if you appear in court, have everything in order, copies for court, don’t be emotional, state your case, have all your evidence and dress appropriately (professional)!

I’m a designer myself and I can tell from what she gave you that shes a beginner and has absolutely no business charging people yet as she has not perfected the craft. Sizing and finishing are issues i had when i first started sewing and was only making things for myself until I got better. Then i practiced making things for my friends and family. It took a while for me to feel comfortable actually taking clients and charging people.

You're adorable when you're upset, but you're too pretty to be making upset. Get an attorney (a Spanish speaking one) or file an arbitration (it's cheaper). Put a copy of all of your communications with them on a drive, texts, emails, pictures, contracts, video footage, social media handles, websites, references etc. Submit that to the courts. You're getting your money back. I'm not a law professional, but I have had to fight in court for things that belong to me. It's not fun. And if Quina lies about sending the sleeves, bring a scale to court and show them the weight of the dress is the same as the weight of the package she sent. Reach out to the UPS or FedEx for footage of her shipping the dress, it's that serious. I know she just had a baby. That doesn't make you a bad person, it's just business. And if she's intelligent, she will learn and grow from this. Best of luck.

You might just have to take sis to small claims court. It's principalities in this (in my Big Worm voice 🤣). Sorry sis, honestly idk what i would do about that situation. I’m a designer myself and I can tell from what she gave you that shes a beginner and has absolutely no business charging people yet as she has not perfected the craft. Sizing and finishing are issues i had when i first started sewing and was only making things for myself until I got better. Then i practiced making things for my friends and family. It took a while for me to feel comfortable actually taking clients and charging people.
Shorty scammed her, my mom is seamstress and I grew up seeing clothes made.

You're adorable when you're upset, but you're too pretty to be making upset. Get an attorney (a Spanish speaking one) or file an arbitration (it's cheaper). Put a copy of all of your communications with them on a drive, texts, emails, pictures, contracts, video footage, social media handles, websites, references etc. Submit that to the courts. You're getting your money back. I'm not a law professional, but I have had to fight in court for things that belong to me. It's not fun. And if Quina lies about sending the sleeves, bring a scale to court and show them the weight of the dress is the same as the weight of the package she sent. Reach out to the UPS or FedEx for footage of her shipping the dress, it's that serious. I know she just had a baby. That doesn't make you a bad person, it's just business. And if she's intelligent, she will learn and grow from this. Best of luck.

As far as Andres...your FIL is probably right, you'll most likely never see your $1000. Tell Andres to simply bring you the materials that you paid for! Since they were supposedly "already purchased", where are they? He doesn't just get to keep them. Then find you a reputable contractor to install your railings and pay for just the labor. This way you won't have to purchase materials again and you won't be completely out of your money.
Now, Miss Thang with the dress...that's a whole other issue! You might just have to take sis to small claims court. It's principalities in this (in my Big Worm voice 🤣). Sorry sis, honestly idk what i would do about that situation. BUT, i definitely wouldn't let her off scott free! As a last resort, you could always put her on blast...i'm sure she wouldn't gain anymore future clients to scam!
