"25 or 6 to 4" is one of my favorite songs. Terry's guitar accomplishment on that song made him one of the best guitarists of all time. Even Jimi Hendrix said he was a better guitar player than himself. Terry's ability will forever be missed. I just wish I was as talented on the guitar as was he. Cheers from eastern TN
Thnx Myra, i just found this , and appreciate you keeping Terrry alive. I had the honor of living at Caribou and becoming a friend of Terry. I was only 18 ish and got to hang out with one the best most humble coolist . fishin, riding dirt bikes, 4 wheelin and just hangin. Forever Terry Kath ❤
Terry Kath One of the best guitarists ever. I saw a great bio on him recently and in person when I was a kid starting out on guitar. He was a great vocalist as well. Thank you for this Myra . You done swell there hunny 😘🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
I agree! Mtv catalyzed a lot of guitarists' career's, and ommitted other's. Some of the 60's & 70's guitarists' were just as incredible as Eddie Van Halen (RIP), and other virtuoso's of the Mtv generation, and beyond! L/R
So many sweet young musicians of my generation destroyed themselves with drugs, Terry was a powerful, dynamic musician and singer at a time when so many young guitarists, steeped in their love of the blues, really got it on and Terry was one of the true elite. RIP Terry Kath.
The band was never the same after Terry. I saw them 8 times over the years but never with out Terry. As I like to say they went bubble gum after Terry died
(1) On 'Southern California Purples' Terry shows his genius. Met Hendrix who recognised his genius. They were "trading places" as Hendrix was leaning toward jazz & playing with horns; Kath without horns & in his own band to show his guitar work (2)
Got news forl all of u...Robert Lamn is a def. Genius..and Danny swraphime is one of the tastiest ,finest drummers ever....top to bottom they were amazing
Chicago V was NOT recorded at Caribou Ranch. It was recorded in NY. Chicago VI was the first album they recorded there. Albums VI through XI, the last album being Terry's last.
The original “Chicago Seven” (no pun intended at all) were all what made the engine go. Terry, needless to say, made significant contributions from the get-go, and as another video alluded to, was truly the spirit and fire in the band - his death affected Chicago in ways both tangible and intangible. BTW, it is my belief (again, no pun intended, since Kath along with other members of Chicago, played in a band called almost exactly this) that Terry was the “missing link” between Jimi Hendrix and yet another great guitarist/songwriter we lost way too soon, Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Just look at all their hits, they had like 5 composers in the band, 3 or 4 lead singers and did a wide range of musical styles, yeah, they are America's best band and my favorite.
Yes Thank you for this I for years tried to master the solo for 25 or 6 to 4 I gave up .Vocals and guitar he was the best,. my favorite is Tell me from that random movie with Robert Blake Eltrata Glide in Blue Vocals amazing
I was wondering why Chicago didn't perform at Woodstock. They were suppose to be there but had a prior engagement. Too bad they would've really became rock legends and undoubtedly been inducted into the hall of Fame yrs earlier. Basically anybody that was at Woodstock were legends. Santana took Chicago's spot at Woodstock and Santana's career took off.
Terry sang ballads too, but he didn't like them since Peter started singing them and he became the focal point of the band. Too much jealousy in that band when the guys should've supported each other, no wonder they eventually started losing band members.
Did you make this video as a school project? One small correction: They did NOT shorten their name to Chicago because the original CTA threatened to sue. That’s an urban legend. Band members have said so in interviews.
funch357 Formed in Chicago in 1967 as the “Big Thing,” the band's first producer, James Guercio, suggested the name “ Chicago Transit Authority, ” later shortened to “Chicago” after the CTA threatened to sue.
@@victoriakrause8711 Terry Kath was an amazing guitar player but his voice was gruff. For some songs he was good but his range in his voice was no comparison to Peter Citera
@@dannelson4209 absolutely, Terry was an amazing guitar player. Even though Terry was a baritone he had a better range than Pete. That being said, Pete had an amazing tenor voice but didn't have the range Terry had. One thing people don't talk much about is Pete's bass playing. He is an excellent bass player. He never got the recognition he deserved as a bass player. But then Terry was an excellent bass player as well, not too many people knew that. He played bass on Wishing You Were Here, Byblos and other songs. Terry was multi talented when it came to singing and instruments.

You can tell he was well versed in jazz and rock. There are many self-taught geniuses, Terry Kath was one of them.

Such a pity that such creative and alive people leave this world so soon...

No. Terry. No. Chicago.

I agree. Better than Hendrix, Clapton, Collins etc etc
My 1st album also.
The best. Thank you for your service

Terry NEVER attended DePaul. Three other band members did..Walt, Lee and James Pankow did.

What a damn shame
VI, VII, VIII X, XI where recorded at Caribou
*were recorded.
Terry is still my favorite guitarist and singer
David Gates of Bread had the most beautiful voice and could hold his own on guitar along with Glen Campbell against anybody.
Chicago V was the last to be recorded in New York not Colorado
классный гитарист
Oh God I didn't know he was only 31,but for the grace of God...I hope he is with my ABBA
If they had never hired the horns they might have been great! Amazing guitarist though. Such a shame the way he died. 😢

Loved him.
May I ask where you obtained your information?

Don't worry, I will soon!
Terry inspired me to pick up a guitar and learn. 😊

He SUNG on???
Peter cetera looks like he gets off selling whole life insurance to libertarians....

I know these stories aren't as crazy as most stories you cover, but if you'd like, you should talk about chuck schuldiner or cliff burton

So true 😔
Chicago were a very good band but never sounded as good after Terry Kath died so it's very obvious who the main talent in the band was.
Sorry to be That Person, but “Loughnane” is pronounced “LOCK-nane.” Great job otherwise!🙂
Lol. Honestly, I couldn't find anything at the time that told me how to pronounce it. Thank you
