your glove box lock has 2 tabs on the sides,, are those are springy tabs or fixed tabs,, i having problems with my glovebox lock,,are those tabs suppost to be pushed to open the glove box?
Yes the black tabs on the sides are spring-loaded, which when depressed pulls back the metal tabs that are the actual lock, and allow you to open the box. Which mine worked but when i originally bought the Jeep, it never came with the separate key for the box so i had to literally rip it open and replace the lock.
@@GearheadsGarage336 i just checked and mines just have 1 metal tab,, the black tabs are complete,, but just 1 metal tab,, now where are the springs located behind the metal tabs or behing the black tabs? i think i can fabricate the springs to make it work again
@@serchmarc now that i couldn't tell you. And if you think you can fabricate one then all the power to you! I just grabbed one at the local junkyard and called it a day!
@@GearheadsGarage336 here we dont have yunkyards,, maybe i can post a "to buy add" on cherokee groups but that will take a loooot of time ,, maybe a simple spring can solve the problem,, thks for the reply
Well, crap. You didn't replace the cylinder. You replaced the whole latch. I want to know how to remove the cylinder from the latch.
Whare did you get the actual lock cylinder
