  • In 2023, the 200cc segment has more bikes that aren't 200s . One such bike trying to fit in is the Honda hornet 2.0 . How does it compare with the TVS apache 20 4v , considered as the all rounder in the segment ? and who should consider the Hornet 2.0 over all the other bikes in the segment is what I've explained in this video . Watch the full video to get a clear picture.

While the Apache is more suited for touring due to its 4v and better top end, it's lower stance and cramped leg position makes it a difficult bike for touring. Hornet on the other hand is great for the city with a more relaxed riding stance, but lacking top end means not great for touring. So riding stance and top end performance cancel each other out as far as touring capabilities. You mention hornet is for beginners, therefore Apache is for more experienced riders. If so, it is the beginners we need dual channel ABS and riding modes, a seasoned rider knows how to brake effectively and how to ride in rain and slippery conditions. Adjustable shocks is for much more experienced riders, most people don't even adjust the basic preload on their shocks for years of ownership. FE and refinement is Honda reputation. In fact Apache's feature list is more aimed at beginners who can feel value for their money with these features. My biggest grosse with the hornet is that it's not at all a 200cc, just 15cc more than a 160, no top end is typical of Honda in India. After 5 years, Honda will feel like it's 3 years old while the Apache will feel like it's 8 years old. Adjustable levers and shocks most people won't touch. ABS of course is a useful feature. I have seen lots of 140 and even 130 section tyres looking brand new at their edges, wear only in the centre, that means most people never dare to lean their bikes to touch the edge of their fat tyres, yet everybody want fat tyres. Drop in economy is the only outcome. So I don't understand your beginner analogy boss, no offence though. ☺️

...2023 model ( latest) hornet 2.0 is the best in class:😍😘
    1. Best in class brand.
    2. Best in class engine refinement and smoothness.
    3. Best in class handling.
    4. Best in class 0 to 80 kmph (usable) sprint, goes like a missile.😘
    5. Best in class fuel average of 38 to 57 kmpl ( around 10 kmpl more than the Apache rtr 200 4v).
    6. Widest in class front tyre of 110 mm.
    7. Golden usd forks.
    8. Premium components like nissin braking system and showa suspension .
    9. Least maintenance requiring bike as it has a simple 2 valve air cooled engine.
    10. Now equipped with a slipper clutch for a fatigue free ride and jerk free downshifts.
    11. Hazard lights.
    12. all led lights around.
    13. Lightest in class at just 142 kg.
    14. Special low noise chain.
.....honda should have given bluetooth connectivity with turn by turn navigation, better more premium rear view mirrors like the dominar 400 and h smart technology, atleast as an option though. 😥😥...my only complain.

Having ridden multiple bikes till date - RE Classic, Apache, FZ16, Ninja 300, Activa, NS200, Duke 200 I would always choose a Japanese bike. Just because someone is givings loads of feature for a given low price point doesnt mean everything will be to the same degree as we expect it to be as they are built to a price point. I will trade abs and adjustable forks and levers for a well built bike. No amount of electronic wizardry ( specially price point based ones) can't compete with simple and solid riding etiquette.
Even though the RTR has come a long way its just trying to mimic the super bikes with adjustable levers, shocks and rider modes for just a mere 20bhp, I just feel its lost its purpose of life and is utterly confused. Go for a simple bike with a good engine rather than bang for a buck, learn how to ride properly and wear a helmet.

remember, Hornet suspension is really hard,
the first thing you do with a motorcycle is sit on it, and then only you ride it,
with hornet its better to stand over footpegs and ride it, that's how bad the suspensions are

People blindly says Honda is best with out trying out. Those Japanese hype gone long time ago. One thing they never think obout is the fact that they aren't manufactured in Japan. They make it in India and getting parts from Indian suppliers. Where as TVS manufacturing the whole unit including tyres. Apache is better engineering.

finally someone who understands, apache has gone through many improvements, is the best product for both city and touring. though hornet 2.0 is good bike but not for touring or any types of big rides.

Try the words on yourself. Go to a 2 year user of same bike and try the bikes at 80-100kmph. Tvs and Bajaj company do not invest much on service, spare parts and engine quality. Last part even tvs tyres are worst I have seen. Remeber japanese motors are also evolving with time and with more pace than these crap bajaj and tvs vibrating machine
