Wasn’t the original premise of the show was to team up professional dancers with amateurs? This is why I couldn’t get behind JoJo who’s had years of professional dance training. She’s supposed to be good where as Iman and everyone else are true amateurs. Iman won the heart of fans because he continued to improve week after week.
I guess but also they have had gymnasts and ice skaters and they always do well too. Does that make them have an unfair advantage? Or the ones on Broadway? Or the performers that have dance experience like Mel C or Nicole Scherzinger? I think it’s too tough to draw the line plus Jojo had never done ballroom

And yes... she got a perfect score for her contemporary, but so too did Amanda & Iman, so she did not have any advantage over them. Melora Hardin also trained in dance when she was younger, and Amanda danced in musical theatre and is a former member of The Rockettes.

Of course she has toured and has those routines but thats no different than Mel from the spice girls! A lot of celebrities likely took dance or have a background in dance somehow its simply part of the territory! JoJo just happens to be very very young, early in her career and got her big break on a dance show! Like you said Amanda & Melora have a Broadway background, Mel of course toured and was part of the infamous Spice Girls, Suni is a gymnast which obviously involves some dance, Kenya also took dance lessons for many many years when she was younger, Cody was a back up dancer for Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj believe it or not! There is just absolutely no way to choose celebrities with absolutely no dance background, unless strictly athletes were chosen, even then some of them have dance backgrounds of some sort! Dance is universal and a very common thing for people in show biz to be involved in! Plus comparing ballroom to absolutely any other type of dance is like comparing a football players skills to a baseball player, its literally two completly different skill sets etc! I think JoJo was robbed! i absolutely give Iman and Dani credit where it was due, however Melora or Suni should have been there instead of him and cody imo! Also the voting for DWTS is so flawed and inaccurate its ridiculous! The night of the finales in my house alone we had 10 of us unable to get any of our votes to go through for JoJo and Jenna! Maybe they should make the judges judge more strict with their scoring in the finals in the future rather than just throwing out 10s for everyones freestyles. Also i think they should included scores from the entire season to calculate the mirror ball winners! And lastely with the flaws in the voting system they should make it more like 75% judges scores through the year and finale and only 15% audience votes be what calculatess the winner rather than it being 50/50 and only scores from the finale count towards who wins! That way its more fair all the way around even if all the votes are not going through and its not such a popularity contest!
I did not know that and it’s very cool! Does it have a specific name? I remember Kel and Whitney did something similar in their freestyle and they mentioned bringing dancers from Chicago. Makes a lot more sense now.

@@JordanJSparks - As a Chicagoan that actually grew up on the west side listening to DJFunk, going to the battles, house parties, etc during the 90s, I can say he did give a homage to Chicago footwork. No one person can take credit for this style. Plus it will be difficult to do a true deep dive since this was before the rise of the internet and phones with cameras. It is like trying to do a deep dive on the creator of the jitterbug. The technique you see on DWTS is a very easy basic step. No one will be able to capture the spirit, the creativity, and the excitement from the battles of Chicago Juking / Footworks. That's the beauty of the Black community, we will forever be a sub-cultural with only the basics being revealed to the masses.

@@JordanJSparks but you also have to remember that iman is absolutely not a trained dancer at all. that footwork is 100% not easy for someone who hasnt danced before and the choreo in between all the footwork has to be calmer and easier to give them a breather and also so the dance isnt too chaotic.
yes I agree, but I just said the steps he was given were not that difficult, I didn't say he should be dancing at a professional level. I never called the dance style easy.
He really did a phenomenal job, but I feel that JoJo still should have got it from the performances of that night. But then being in the top two I really agree with that but I feel like from the jump they knew they where not going to give it Jojo and it’s vary sad...

The pros have mentioned that it is harder to be a dancer on the show than come in with no experience. Props to Iman but I think this idea that jojo didn’t need to try seriously need to die.

Every single contestant Who participated in dancing with the stars had no experience in ballroom dancing so they did not know the technique that it takes to do ballroom so in my opinion I feel she did not have a advantage because it’s still ballroom dancing. @@JordanJSparks it’s not unheard of for pros to bring in a choreographer to help with freestyles and other dances that they aren’t trained in. I remember as far back as Zendaya’s season where Val brought in Zendaya’s hiphop teacher to help choreograph their hiphop routine. I think they’re only expected to choreograph the actual ballroom dances (and even then there’s been rumors for years that some pros receive help)

However, the only hting you say is that she is a prof dancer which alone is a big fat lie. She had just some jazz and contemporary lessons when she was young and for a few years. JoJo & JJ were hijacked and robbed of the Mirror Ball by the viewers' votes. They topped & led the (judges) average scores chart right from week 1, and they never lost their number 1 ranking. AND, Amanda's, Melora's, Suni's and Olivia's average scores and ranking were also above Iman's & Cody's... JoJo's score average: 36.9; Amanda's: 35.9; Melora's: 34.1; Suni Lee's: 33.8; Olivia's: 33.3; Iman's: 32.6, and; Cody's: 32.1.

But if you are really gonna discuss who deserved to go the final based on scores, it should have been (Iman or Suni), Amanda, and jojo.
