People forget that the clon is NOT AN OVERDRIVE, like the TS9. The way it gets distortion is by hard clipping post OP AMP. In this case, the Klon is more close to DOD 250 or MXR dist +. The magic in the Klon is because it's 3 pedals in one! - the gain knob is actually 2 pots, that mix the dry and processed signal, that way you can actually decide how much effect do you want. - the treble knob is a treble booster, up to 70 db of boost!!! (Circuit used by brian may, tony iommi, glen tipton...) - the gain structure (as mentioned earlier) is a op amp distortion type aka hard clipping!!! (Used by iron maiden, malmsteen, randy r...) So when guitarists says "i need this pedal because its the perfect overdrive" (to play blues o pop rock, maybe because they want to be like john mayer 🤦) they really don't know why they need it, but is expensive, so it must be good.
Another great video... and tone, maybe because every time you see someone talking about that pedal, it has John Mayer in the same sentence, I never associated it much with metal, but after that video, I'm definitely wrong. Nice tappings at 4:35 btw
The only two I can think of James hetfield uses an actual Klon. Mick thomson uses the wampler tumnus and a Seymour Duncan 805 combined. But great sound with two together tube screamer and Klon type. Have a good day Dustin.
@@DustinAlford hey if we don't learn new tricks were just old dogs lol 😆. Like I said I know there is you tube videos on their rigs. Check it out when you need a break from making your album. Congrats on that and can't wait to hear from you on that.
Watching you put this into a boogie that could toast this gain circuit on-board makes me laugh a tad. Sounds amazing regardless!

Lol I love my klon clone boosting my high gain tube amp. Sounds great.
Nice to see I'm not the only guy who likes to do this. Rock on!
Thank you! This is what I was thinking of doing this to an Archon
@@DustinAlfordmaybe one of the best pedals for metal tbh
It will chug more if you raise the gain knob a bit

You have a great day too, I never knew that about James and Mick.

Thanks man, it rips!
Leads sound good not crazy about the chugging
