You are my favorite narrator on Facts Verse! I laughed when you said, "Yes, we were idiots."
I've lived in MI, TX, MO & KY and have seen a number of tornados. One time, we were watching from my aunt's basement as a tornado ripped up and carried off a tree in her back yard, just missing the house.
Thanks Facts verse, Now we can keep ourselves safe in case of natural disaster.
I grew up in Holcomb Ks, which for those that don't know, is in western Kansas, deep in the heart of tornado alley. I was in a car that was thrown from the road as a child, and later watched a tornado hit the roof of our house while we were inside. I've seen multiple vortexes coming from the same cloud on the ground at the same time and a dreaded white tornado. One of our neighbors silos was rolled into a ball and bounced across country.
I lived in Ft. Lauderdale for many years. The weather is kinda weird at times, but some of the residents there are prepared. I lived through a bad hurricane and lots of tropical storms. If you drove anywhere the week before it hit, the entire city had boarded up all of their shop windows and took all displays off of the sidewalks. Seasoned residents did the same. I couldn't leave the area, so stayed up the night it hit, listening to it tossing objects into the side of the house. My daughter slept through the noise, but I sure didn't! In the morning, I looked outside and our street was a river, full of debris. A man was in a canoe paddling off to work. An odd sight everywhere, except for Ft. Lauderdale/Miami.
I've been caught in a couple hurricanes. The same one both times in Hawaii and California. Also I was in a couple of riptides in California. There were funnel clouds above our house also in California, luckily it didn't touch down. Although, I have seen a few that have touched down from a distance.
Hello from a fellow Kansas boy. I may not have been born there or lived very long there but it still is where I call home. The best part was what you said about you and your dad in Olathe KS. My family lived in Gardner, Laharp and Olathe from shortly after I was born till I was 7. I had been in two tornadoes while we lived there but the one I remember most was around Douglas State lake. We were camping and dad gots us boys in the truck. He was yelling at my mom to get out of the tent and get in the truck but as someone who had never been in a tornado and was from Oregon she didn't understand why he was rushing her so much. Needless to say everything turned out ok and no one was hurt in the family. Mom even saved the tent from blowing away.
If you're reading this, be safe❤️🙏

are you crazy?
As a Southern Californian, seeing a riptide is pretty common. I remember at a beach camp that if we get swept out by the tide, continue swimming outwards, and once you're out of the brown or discolored water, swim to the side of the riptide and back to shore.
My dad told a story of how he was in a shack for a hurricane that hit but he never went into much detail. Also I was in a terrible wind storm 15 years ago. The gusting winds toor off roof of the neighboring houses. Somehow we got luck and it only took the front tree and bent our gutter.
I am a ex-firefighter and I am a Mennonite I grown up and my dad and grandma and grandpa teacher my to look at the sky and watch the animals they will tell you when something mad is going happen and go indoor.

Well your typing and grammatical skills say you drool ,eat crayons and shit the bed. 👌👍👋👋👋👋😂😂😂😂😂😂

There is a reason I live 18 miles from nearest town, and there is a reason I only drive old and heavier industry trucks like 1992 custom Ford F-350 2 ton V8. Not to ment all the tools and equipment in the back so add another 500 lbs at least. I don't have to worry about floods where I live because, in a 2 mile radius there is no external water source that supplies enough water to flood anything. And that is Little Beaver Creek here in Oldfield Mo, 65720.
NOTE it is wise to prepare a emergency Kit for any emergency, and keep it in a backpack or something you can take with you wherever you go, I once got bit by a timber rattle snake about 2 or so miles from my house or near anything really because I live in a very small part of Oldfield where maybe a thousand people total live and I don't know where really anyone else lives around my house. And my hiking backpack had a bacterial infection and poisoning contractor/control emergency aid in it, and I think I would have lost my leg if I had to walk 2+ miles with a injury on my leg and get in a truck to drive 50-60 miles to nearest hospital. I really think I would have lost my leg that day. All I am saying is there is no harm in being prepared for a disaster if and when one occurs.
92 Ford's have a computer .... .... So. Not much good.
I grew up in eastern North Carolina, so I've experienced a lot of hurricanes. Also, when I was a kid, there was red tide at most of the beaches along the coast of North Carolina. I didn't see it first hand, but it was all over the news, so my mom didn't take my sister and I to the beach until it cleared.
The strength of some of those twisters is mind boggling when it comes to lifting houses of their foundations! One report told of a house that got lifted up and carried to a place with a whole mess of strange people.
in my country if we saw unusual large amount of ants inside our house that means rainy season is coming
yes during rainy days ants try to di their nuptial flight ti mate with others you know those big ants with wings

One night when i was a toddler there was a tornado warning up in Michigan which is rare. So me and my parents drove to my grandparent’s but accidentally drove through the EF0. I remember seeing leaves getting ripped off and seeing the funnel at my grandparent’s.
I lived in Omaha Nebraska and yes I learned to really pay attention to weather signed. I live back in Indiana and still pay attention and watch signs of the weather ESPECIALLY during the day time hours to have something prepared for the night time hours. Tornadoes are extremely dangerous more so at night.
In 1987, I made the mistake of driving through a severe thunderstorm between Plainville, and Natoma, Kansas - it hailed mercilessly in Plainville - and just as I drove past the small town of Cordell, Kansas, I looked in my rear view mirror just in time to see the funnel cross the road about a half mile behind me - the hail in Plainville removed two-thirds of the paint on my car down to its primer and the wind from the tornado near Cordell nearly pulled the rear of the convertible top from my car - a 1986 Ford Mustang GT Convertible.
Thank you FACTS VERSE on learning about this
Just last year, in mid spring, I was outside doing my daily garden work when I felt a very sudden gust of wind which knocked over some of my potted trees. I looked up and saw a very large, dark, spinning cloud. I later learned that a tornado had touched down just across the highway from my neighborhood. I live in Ottawa, Canada, where tornadoes almost never happen, so I was quite shocked when I heard the news.
Who else been watching Facts verse since before 1 mil

I lived through Hurricane Juan in Halifax, NS. No one was prepared, because we had never had a severe hurricane before. I lived in an old house with thin windows and I moved my be, so it wouldn't be next to the window. The window in the front hall broke. We didn't have power or phone for 48hours and I had to walk to a pay phone to call my Mom. A complete stranger let me use his cell phone to call my Mom in New Brunswick (cell phones were expensive to use in those days). They sent the army to clear up all the huge oak trees that had blown over in Halifax. They had been there for hundreds of years. Crazy times!!!

Living in PA where a lot of hills are I remember hearing they do not go up & down the hills they usually bounce over the little valleys. We were in our barn walking a colic horse when suddenly we heard a loud noise. Before you could take cover it was gone. But we could see across the pasture where my brother lived & every tree top touched the ground but trailer was untouched. A huge oak tree was in the middle of the pasture that seperated the trailer & the barn. it broke in half like a twig. All the trees in our yard were ripped out by the roots & that was the bounce of the tornado that went up & down the hills about 18 of them. One second of time was not enough time 2 protect yourself. Only the LORD did it. Been in many more in different states & heading straight towards us was no way 2 escape Began singing there is power in the blood of Jesus & it bounced over us & hit houses on the other side of the lake we lived on. Too many 2 tell how God saved us untouched each time

Mighty is he..🤗✌
Thank God!!!🙏

Yes I have been thru both a Tornado & 2 Hurricanes! I drove thru the Right side of the Tornado, at the time there was no safe place to pull over and get to safety, my poor car did not do so well, thank goodness for insurance!! I also have been thru 2 Hurricanes, Katrina was my worst!! Katrina was a Hurricane from hell. But we rode her out and did the repairs, we are still doing repairs.
I would i would run for my life
I would take me a cool beer, maybe it will be my last one. Prosit.

OBVIOUSLY I WOULD RUN
Lived through hurricane Maria.. it was a category 5+ hurricane when it swallowed up my island Dominica🇩🇲. It was groundbreakingly intense.
I remember when we used to live north of where we are now, we luckily made it put of the cyclone Marcia range, but we got hit with a devastating low instead. If we would if lived just north about a extra kilometer, we would have been hit way more harder.

Im from Ft. Riley Kansas. When I was a little girl I remember watch a small tornado going down our street. It flipped over a coulpe of cars and dumpsters. Tornado Alley.
I’ve been in a lot of places at the wrong time such as the mountains... I went to go see my grandparents and we got stock in a hail storm with quarter sized hail. me and my ma went to Kansas to see my great aunt and we ended up seeing a funnel cloud thank god it dissipated

It's that aqua turquoise color with the wind spinning that says get low and little and if you can, PRAY!!! Seen as a child and as a adult each were deadly. When my grand parents went to Cuba last year they got the red water itching thing there was no fish showing up on their traker water was red and they where itchy wow that's weird
That's red tide n can make you really sick, seek medical attention to make sure you have no infection going on, especially if you had any open sores or cuts. Many red tides produce toxic chemicals that can affect both marine organisms and humans. ... brevis cells and release these toxins into the air, leading to respiratory irritation. For people with severe or chronic respiratory conditions, such as emphysema or asthma, red tide can cause serious illness.
.."If you see this in the sky..." Commences to show one thing after the other ON ground and IN water !
I live in Kansas too and tornadoes are no joke!!!!
Well I live in the Bahamas and we experience Hurricanes, let me tell you to be in those powerful systems for hours on end is no joke, you can't run anywhere because they are sometimes hundreds of miles wide. Ironically even without warning, we can sometimes tell when a hurricane might hit even if the sky is sunny because the whole atmosphere just feels different.

In July of 1975 two friends and myself were visiting some other friends in Southern Saskatchewan. Just after midnight we were headed home when we ran into a terrible thunderstorm. I pulled off the highway into the ditch. And we went to sleep as the lightning was so fierce it was hard to drive. I do remember waking in the darkness. Not sure what time it was. But the car was shaking. At 6 a.m. I awoke and we continued on. In less than a half mile we came across a field of flattened wheat about 2 city blocks wide. A tornado had crossed the highway. A couple thousand feet ahead of where we were parked. Scary shit.
Good content,New sub here.
I was in Maryland going to the public dump and the sky turned green. I saw a bunch of people running, debris flying around, and heard sirens. It was only when I got home that I found out there was a tornado in my exact location.
In the late 70s I was at school in Houston when a low funnel cloud passed over us; the sky had turned green and small hail fell as few minutes before the funnel cloud. It was close enough that we clearly heard the low whistling sound. It caused some minor damage in the area.

When I was younger I lived in Nebraska, we had a tornado hit about a mile away, we were all looking at it as it happened ready to rush to the basement. luckily it was going perpendicularly to where I was, and it didn't turn toward us. I believe it was reported later as an f3 but I was only about 11 or so.
I live in Houston TX. We get hurricanes more than tornados. Luckily I've not witnessed a Tornado. Last time a hurricane hit i was close to the gulf. In clear lake. Luckily only fences fell for us and lost power for 14 days. But I had a friend that got electricity back in a week and I stayed with her
Three tornadoes the first one was when I was a kid I barely remember it but it was scary at through a tree limb in front of our car the.
The second time I was at the gas station waiting for a bus I didn't even know the weather was severe until I heard the sirens I immediately started looking for the rotation with the radar on my phone and noticed that the rotation was directly located over me so I started to look around and finally spotted it it wasn't even a block away so I said "(forget waiting for the bus I'm out of here)" and went home to take cover that one didn't touch down but it was close call..
And the third probably the most scary one I was at my job site and working and a fixed post at a refinery so when the sirens started to Roar and I freaked I know how much damage one silo can do! But then it got worse when I looked at the radar and saw that it was headed right for my post I was being evacuated when a big wall of rain headed towards us it looked just like a freaking funnel and I have never felt so terrified in my life anyway we got to the shelter only to have to move to a new shelter when the rotation was directly above our heads literally rotating right above us when I came out of the building I saw this giant swilling spinning Mass I wanted to run but they had us in a line formation moving us to a safer location out of the rotations trajectory...
however that one did not touch down either but it was the most scariest scenario I've ever been in with a tornado the news Channel 6 posted a picture on there site of the funnel that formed and I pailed at how big that tornado was..
I cannot believe how close Tulsa came to utter destruction cuz if that thing hit the a refinery it would have been bad as in May 3rd tornadoes we're a joke bad!!!

i remeber when me and my cousins my uncle and aunt were kids we left one of my cousins bday party and the road was so foggy like no light could help and we notice the trees were begining to Lean to one side so after being stuck for a few minutes my grandmother drove to a gas station and ended up in a tornado there and in the road where we got stuck for a few minutes we stopped and notice some of the signs and roof over the gas pump started peeling off ready to fly thank god it didnt fly off we were there for like a until the storm stopped and the saw the moon so after that everybody was at home safe afterwords it was really scary seeing all them leaves and other stuff flying around
Wow that must have bin scary!?
