    Learn from some of my past mistakes: 1) when reinstalling the saddle, double check that the wire didn't loop into the expansion slot of the seat tube 2) I would not button everything back up before testing that it was connecting to the head unit 3) do your Di2 firmware updates *before* performing the installation.

    Hi, very helpful video. Does it matter which battery you have in your seat post? Thanks, Bernard

    • @instantalpha1484

      Thanks! It does not matter which battery you have, it's compatible with all versions of the seat post batteries. But if you're going out and buying a new battery, I'd recommend getting the latest version
      BT-DN110-A Link: amzn.to/3fThvii there's some added functionality that you get out of the newer battery vs the older version that makes it worth it (more memory which support synchro shifting, etc.)

    If you decide to wrap the module highly recommend Teflon. Teflon is the closest thing to air in terms of being invisible to RF ie. The Bluetooth signal. Styrofoam is ok. DO NOT use nylon, metal, or even wood. As they absorb RF. To test a material put some in a microwave oven. If it gets warm, don't use it.

    All UA-camrs seem to want to install this Bluetooth module in the seat tube. That's a no go for me as I have a metal frame. Wish I could find someone showing how they installed the unit on the handlebars next to the charging module. I have three wires attached to my charging module and it is not clear if it matters which of these three I insert the Bluetooth unit into.

    Hi, thanks for the video.
    So, you didn't connect your module to the Shimano app and it still worked with the Garmin unit?
    Does that mean that you do not "have to" connect to the Shimano app?

    • @instantalpha1484
      @instantalpha1484  2 роки тому +1

      Correct, no need to pair with the app. You can pair directly with a head unit.

      @@instantalpha1484 If you dont pair it to the app you cant do updates or configure the shifting however. I wonder if the wireless unit would still connect ok in sea tube of an Al bike (as opposed to under the handlebars? Also, in the video under the handlebars is that your A junction or B? Im debating converting a non Di2 entire bike and am thinking of different options for wiring. Txs good video!

    Seeing which gear u are in - is that basically the only (or the best) reason you need dfly for?
    I don want other hassles than that to be honest. My hood doesnt have that extra control on hood.
    Id be really thankful for reply.

      Ya, I'd say top three are gear, transmits the battery life of your Di2 system and updates via phone versus plugging it into a laptop. Like and sub if you find the content useful! I have more videos coming.

    I don’t have a seat post battery. I have a SM-EW90A battery that straps under the handle bar. Would this work for me?

    • @instantalpha1484
      @instantalpha1484  3 роки тому

      The SM-EW90A is the junction box that has the charging port. Is there a battery on the outside of your frame that looks like this? - bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/duraace-9070-di2/SM-BTR1.html

    Does that unit and the cables rattle inside your bike?

    • @instantalpha1484
      @instantalpha1484  2 роки тому +1

      No rattle at all, between the cable and the plastic or rubber on the unit itself they do a good job of dampening any sound.

      Would this also be true for an aluminum bike? I have a Topstone 1 (Al) and am considering converting it to Di2 and wondered if the wireless would work in the seat tube. My last bike I installed it under the handlebars.

    • @randyraines6695
      @randyraines6695 Рік тому

      @@GasmanA This only applies to the Bluetooth module
      The battery in a metal tube is fine because it's wired. The Bluetooth radio signal won't penetrate anything metal, and is attenuated by a lot of plastics. Teflon and styrofoam are the best choices for supports. Polypropylene isn't bad, but you don't want to use stuff like nylon. A good test is to put the substance in a microwave oven next to a ceramic cup full of water. If your plastic gets hot or melts you can't use it. The water is just because you don't want to run a microwave oven empty

      @@randyraines6695 Understand, so they Di2 wireless module will NOT work in a Al bike in the seat tube? Thats to bad but I guess I can splice it in under the handlebars like I had on an older bike.

      If you got a carbon fiber seat post you could use the seat post blue tooth module as long as the module was above the seat tube. It would require some work though. My Cannondale has the battery even with the bottom of the seat post with the module dangling into the seat tube
