Lofty Pursuits the home of Public Displays of Confection makes hard candy using Victorian candy making techniques. They candy is hand made with equipment that was made in the late 1800's. We restore, preserve and use this old equipment as it was intended to be used. You can try this candy yourself, we sell it in person in our store in Tallahassee, Florida, where you can see the candy being made in person. You can also buy our candy on-line at www.pd.net.
It's so nice that LP is back to posting videos regularly again. That old machinery is so simple but clearly so brilliant. It's so cool to watch.
omg the climax is when he takes his hands and breaks up the candy pieces, the way they just so effortlessly fall apart and break evenly along the shape lines. I honestly didn't expect that to happen, but it makes sense that after the sheets harden, that they'd all break along the paths of least resistance.
MrGoat i thought that he had to cut it.
Yeah I assumed he'd have to cut it too, but was so satisfied when instead they just effortlessly fell apart into beautiful little pieces
MrGoat i know like my dreams crushed with a single blow
MrGoat this is why this kind of hard candy is called drops
MrGoat that's why they're called drops silly, cuz after the sheets harden they drop the candy on the table and it breaks up the pieces evenly
the wall is made of dominos?
Ethan Hernandez well it was. we moved.and the wall dis not move.so.well.
Yes, the dis not move.so.well!
Sorry, did not move well. I don't think I can reuse most of the tiles. :(
Lofty Pursuits
XD.
those are dices????
Are we just going to not talk about the wall made out of fucking DOMINOS!?
those are dice
actually, no, those are dominoes
You are right.... Those are DOMINOS ! You can see the "Double Blank" one now and again.
Gary dice have numbered dots on all four of its faces, dominos only have one face.
"Public displays of confection" 😆
Are we not going to talk about the genius that is the 'public displays of confection' sign??
Sadly, when we moved at the beginning of October, it came down in pieces. I'm unsure if it can be re-hung due to the scraps of plaster and mastic that remain on the back of the tiles. We are thinking of turning some of those tiles into necklaces as intensives for an upcoming Kickstarter campaign.
Oh no! :( i hope it all works out soon!
The sign is very smart. I heard it has a degree in math
i love the domino wall
Let's talk about the genius domino wall too.
"Public displays of confection" hehehehe
hahaha saw that too
well it is confectionary candy.
now public displays of affection is a whole different thing.
Philip Doenau lol
seraphilight iu
u saw it too?! noice
Probably the only honest "most satisfying" video. Never seen a candy one, but it's great to see people using their own footage.
the end where he broke it all up gave me life.
I don't know what I was expect but when they crunched up the sheets into the candies it was the most satisfying thing
Just imagine the precision with which the rollers had to be made so each half of each piece of candy would align together.
I still want someone to make a full sized set of hard candy armor and matching weapons.
Viking the Mad Username checks out.
Whoever composed the music in this was very.. creative. Not sure it fits the whole candy-making thing but it doesn't deserve all the comment-section hate.
It is objectively not good; something about it is obnoxious.
It felt almost painful to me. Highly unpleasant.
It’s horrible.
It reminds me of video game music.
I personally don't mind the music. But it kinda sounds like it's AI generated (speaking as someone who's worked with such music before).
Oh boy, my favorite shape...tapeworm!
ExopMan it totally doesn't help that I that I read this comment and just saw a spider coming down from the ceiling over my bed. If your wondering where I am, I am on the couch downstairs.
AdamAva Vision some say the spider followed him downstairs and no one has heard from him in 5 months
trash 😂😂
trash 😂ffssss
Do you feed your tape worm with burnt toast and a rotten egg?
Wow, I never knew candy drops were made this way!
suddenly want to become a sweet maker...
Gizmo Rose wanna be my sweet baby maker, lol sorry i had to
dill pickledz I will
nice, you two have fun making babies to the music in this video!
strange, but thanks!
Gizmo Rose I would love to taste your sweets😂😂😂
I was watching thinking "omg these poor people are gonna have to pop those little shapes out one at a time" but little did I know...
Valerie Woods I thought the same thing! I really want to break up all the candy. it seems so satisfying.
Valerie Woods exactly what I thought!
damn youre cute
I thought it was just large pieces of candy with texture I didn't realize it was actually perforating the candy
Valerie Woods It's a dream job!
Dad: Son, what career do you want to pursue in future ?
You: I want to become a candy breaker one day, Dad!
I wanna be on the candy smashing team :D :D :D
Artbug Candy crush saga XD
+lunarcorpse XD
That's a new franchise right there!
Artbug have fun with minimum wage
Artbug I wanna be on the candy eating team
Brett Berard I make specialty candies in chicago and I do not make min wage.Candy making is a highly skilled craft and you do not go under an apprenticeship just to make min wage. You can make a lot of money doing it especially if you are very good, artistically inclined, and your candies are in demand cause you make a good product.
It's delightful to see the care that you put into making your various candies.
The music was also nice. Thanks for putting so much thought into your videos!
I'm so glad that LP titled this video the way they did, hopefully they'll get a load more views and subs! one small suggestion is more soothing music ❤
Hey Jessica ;)
Guys calm tf down, I am real and idk why people keep accusing me of being fake
+Jessica richards I didn't she did ( atleast i think that it's a she )
+Can Yakar fair enough
+Jessica richards soooo whattup ? ;)
You should post a video without a bunch of commentary or music, just the candy making sounds
Renzi Roars I agree
Renzi Roars l
electroswing girl That might be difficult because the candy by itself doesn’t make too much sound. Those asmr videos are recorded with the mike really close to the wood carving, or pencil scratching, or whatever. Since the candy is so hot and sticky, you would probably damage your expensive equipment. Also, there may be lots of noise pollution from all the customers and background sounds.
I'm quite fond of geckos The background noise of a candy making shop, customers and machines included might be relaxing for some people, I know they would for me because I love listening to stuff like city noises etc
The sounds of people in the shop and candy making.
This music is like straight out of a 2008 rpg
Kinda reminds me of early 2000's arcade games
No lie, Victorian candy is like heaven in a sugary form!
I love how you guys made this the title haha, everyone calls these satisfying and they truly are
it was easy to create that title, once I learned this one simple secret.
+Lofty Pursuits Hahaha!
I see the 'most satisfying' videos are really popular, and to use it in the title will get your video views. :)
you mean the one where many different "most satisfying" videos use your footage? also, so excited for my babble fish and tardis image candy to arrive!!! I ordered them a while ago and just got an email saying that my post office has them; I'm so pumped.
+RUNANDGUN87 yes, and if you find my footage used without my permission send me a link. I give a candy bounty.
Fantastic to see these old machines in use..... Much more interresting than modern computer controled...
I love the name of the candy shop. Public Displays of Confection.
I'm actually pretty sure that's their slogan, and their shop's name is Lofty Pursuits.
+Raijyn Ohh okay! Thank you (:
COOL😱😱🤐
That is a great name
I would love a video of just the end where you separated the candies but with no music, just the crackly sound of them hitting the table :)
OMG, candy-making ASMR!!!
Most modern manufacturing machines I find boring because technology simplifies the mechanical aspect, and that's why I prefer these old machines with clever mechanical answers to problems.
It's amazing how well built that old hardware is. Simple and elegant.
Lmao everyone's going nuts with the videos music
Daniela Reyes Bunch of babies.
hhhhhhhHHHHHHHH! Thats the sound of sudden sharp long intake of air!-ahhhhh!-for upon the moment of SHOCK gaze my gaze falling upon your lovely visage captured in your picture!- this is pure enrapturement! May I never recover! I ll never be the same! What an enthralling stunning picture of beauty like I have NEVER before beheld!-Wow!-My!-Thank YOU for this greatest and rarest of all my rare priveledges! Ever so sincerely,J.M.
Daniela Mozzarellaaa È piacevole,vero?
The music is bad ass
This music lowkey reminds me of Runescape.
Srta.TacoMal
My thoughts exactly
Try listening to the music on 1.25 speed
Love the music, it's like something you would hear in a video game while wandering through a busy town :)
i like it when the candy is like in both solid and liquid state. its so satisfying watching them fold it.
this just makes me want to work at a candy shop.
Amazing! The history lover in me is giddy when I see all that candy made with those old machines, just like it was made for people over 100 years ago! Thanks for sharing!
Can advise these are some of the best candies I have tasted. So crisp and lovely, I recommend the Babel fish.
hey! I'm subed to you nice work!
I take your word for it but I'm never going to open my fish up they look way to nice!
They are meant to be eaten. Sadly they won't last forever except in your mind :)
xBeau Gaming what’s with the name hmm
@@LoftyPursuits well we can always buy more
I LOVE watching the sheets being crushed out and separated 😍
It seriously reduces my anxiety!
And those beautiful old candy machines!! Wow.
Could you imagine meeting your girlfriend's parents for the first time, and they ask "What do you do for a living?"
"Oh, I make victorian style candy on youtube."
To be fair they don't just do UA-cam...they just happen to also make videos occasionally...
They only occasionally make vids they are a store
you know there is an entire world outside of youtube, right?
+Gamarleton really?
+Gamarleton 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I hope whoever composed this music gets to eat all the leftover candy shards. I hope they feel bad about what just happened to my ears.
This made me laugh a lot!
eight6sevenfive3oh9 I would pay money for those shards so what you are saying isn't exactly a punishment
eight6sevenfive3oh9 I thought the music was great!
Thanks i also hope the shards get stuck in their teeth
Geran De Rijk Why? It was so nice and it suited the video perfectly.
I didn't have my sound on. When I turned my sound on halfway through the video my mood completely changed. I thought the video was gonna be about elegance, the victorian era, the 1870's type with classical music and such.
*When I heard video game style lobby music I wanted to cry.*
We must not be hearing the same soundtrack cause some people seem to really hate the music? I really liked it?
Anyways, candyyyyy! :D
BlueKokiri3 *lol same
BlueKokiri3 It sounds like a bad karaoke version of a movie soundtrack to me.
BlueKokiri3 me too
BlueKokiri3 I liked it too, but also
CANDYYYYY
BlueKokiri3 turned it off after 60 sec or so! =D
This was the fourth most satisfying victorian candy making video ever FYI thanks for the vid though
Teehee
as mainstream candy get's nowadays , i just find the making of it a pure form of art
My god. Is it just me or is the music in this video really awkwardly off key?
BucketsAMF you can just mute it
just you and your embarrassing attempt to look like you know shit about music.
The difference between music and noise is the intention of composition.
Yes it is off key, and it is good.
Your videos are so soothing to watch! I've currently got a fever and a sore throat, and watching these made me forget my discomfort :)
とにかく映像と音楽の組み合わせが好きすぎる
Wow I never knew this was in my own city I thought that place was an embroidery store
+martydolphins Is my cross stitch not good enough for you. (Sigh) I'll go back to knitting.
candy is always good enough I'll stop by sometime soon because these look tasty
This is right up there with Lucas The Spider on my list of videos that are just good, calm, wholesome nice times.
jesus christ this music
Sounds almost like runescape
Astro sounds like a xanax overdose
+panameadeplm haha
pure MIDI power... lol
I could fart a better song
It's so fascinating to see this old technology & great to see that someone is keeping old fashioned crafts alive :) thanks for showing us!
All that candy and midi madness
I don't know why, but I love how the candy looks solid, but then liquid and then solid again and blabla
Am I the only one who likes the music?
No. Lots of people like annoying music. ;^)
yes
Not at all. I don't know what everyone is complaining about
II EpIc ELLie II I love it. I can't figure out the artist!
I like it.
Seriously I just loved the music alone. Finally a relaxing sound to a satisfying video. No techno crap !
Your candy looks excellent & I appreciate the time & effort y'all put into your videos 🍭🍬
public displays of confection :)
Bronabonle clever
Shadow Fox
It's on the (pretty awesome domino) wall
Check out 6:40
Martin Oops. XD I was so engrossed in the candy I missed it.
Anyone else thinking how fun it must be to work there?
I don't care about how "satisfying " the video is all I care about is the history of the Victorian candy making process and machine.
Is it bad that i liked the music?
Humberto Vega nah it means your cool, unless I'm lame, then it means you're also lame. But I'm pretty sure I'm awesome, so you're in luck.
Yes
No, cause you can have your own preferences and opinions. Bad and good are just opinions that noone should feel lessened by just because they fit into the minority. And all opinions are equally valid in this case.
idk i thought it was nice
Humberto Vega No
I'm so glad these kinds of pursuits are still appreciated.
Thank you for sharing!
I would like the UA-cam analytics people to know that the only reason I watched this is because I'm a little tipsy.
The three candy colors reminded me of a cone shaped pop I ate as a kid. It had three different colors and a white wax seal at the bottom, and was wrapped in clear cellophane. It was all sugar and took so long to finish it, the paper stick would get soggy before finishing the candy!
I think I just got victorian diabetes
lol!
😂
Wanton110 lol
*Get the victorian doctor*
I'm not complaining or trying to cause anything but, diabetes isn't caused by sugar
Enjoyed and using the old candy machines is great. Thanks for sharing. Love the older stuff
Man I wish that the title wasn't so clickbate-y because the video was actually pretty enjoyable and showed the steps to making some of these candies in an interesting manner, such a waste of actual good content.
Look at our other videos, the content there is great. This was my response to having so much video footage stolen by people who make those videos. I got this idea with this one simple trick.
Lofty Pursuits I guess that's fair, but I still don't like the idea of fighting fire with fire (Also nice little joke there ;) )
It's not fighting fire. It's going with the flow. If people want videos like this, then they will go to where they can get them, stolen video or not. If I don't serve the people who want these videos, someone else will. Seems pragmatic. Now look for my video on the top 10 candy flavors. #3 will surprise you.
Lofty Pursuits It really irks me how actual content creators like you have to do this in order to catch up to those who steal your content and get money off of it. Oh well I guess that THE MOST INTERESTING CANDY MAKING CHANNEL has to resort to things that an honest channel/company shouldn't have to.
Oh, I find it really funny. Ii also did a better editing job then they did. Mind you not Everyone likes my music choice. You seem to be getting frustrated and I'm sorry about that. But I'm laughing. It's all because this candy maker chose the special flavor and he's finally telling why.
I wasn't that satisfied. I wish we could have seen the candies up close when he was breaking them apart
watch our other videos hopefully that will make it up to you. actually an extreme close up on breaking sound cool. I may have to try that next video.
Victorian era is the mythical high point of the Anglo-American culture. That´s what makes them feel most legit.
Personally I loved the music
I wish the video would've explained the equipment's origins and the ingredients that went into the candy with the quantity of each listed. The video would've been so much more entertaining with a little narration, introduction or text overlay.
Here is a link to the video that does just that.
ua-cam.com/video/sd90XCvpO1k/v-deo.html
Oh thank you!
It's great how you can just wander into this video and start criticizing their content like you could have done it so much better if you had directed it, completely ignoring that the entire purpose of this channel is almost exactly that.
Why does this music sound like Pokemon gym music?
Music makes it borderline unwatchable, but the candy looks awesome
felt like I was playing Zelda the entire time.
Ohh yes. The textures and work with the candy. Very satisfying to watch and to learn.
sponsored by the phantomhives
I just love when you cut the cooling sheets of candy and hold it up so the hot liquid center can pour out. I know you don't have the luxury with time but I'd love to watch most of it dump out before you set the outer shell down to melt back together. I saw a bit of that happening on the orange piece in this video. Very cool!
Ahh nothing like the candy that chafed the top of the roof of your mouth memories
*shudders*
Excellent Video. Makes one appreciate the way when candy was handmade instead of being mass produced. Still, whether it was made by hand or mass produced, I always have a sweet tooth for the finer things in Life.
most satisfying is not the statement I would use for this
I found it quite satisfying to watch. I enjoy candy making videos.
+Zoey Berrier I agree
If there's a more satisfying Victorian Candy making video out there, I'd love the link.
It's not satisfying it's taunting.
Those old fashion candy machines are brilliant!
is there much competition for Victorian candy making videos? lol
Apparently so from the comments.
i loved how when you were pulling the candy on the hook, it was perfectly synced with the music
When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a music box.
+Camila Riascos now all I'm seeing is music boxes.
A wonderful video as always. Watching the too-hot candy drip out of the outer shell of too-cold candy at the start and watching them all break apart at the end are always my favorite bits :)
Very enjoyable video. I even liked the music 😁
Those Humbug ones look like kinda look/move like snakes when you put them through the rollers.
hannah weaver I was thinking the same thing. Like those toy wooden snakes
gonna be taking advantage of the fresh pokemon craze with pokemon themed candy?
Probably not online. Getting sued sucks.
We've done pokeballs for custom in-house candy. But posting it on line ...
i think as long as you avoided using any imagery outside of something in an image candy you'd be sufficiently abstracted from any potential claims. it might actually be pretty funny seeing "you know what" candy for the "you know who" craze. that said! i understand your reservations, and can't blame you :)
+SuperAWaC Oh were going to do that with another video in a few weeks, but I feel safer there.
Lofty Pursuits can't wait :)
candy crushing looks the most satisfying
3:50 The music got so epic i cried ¡_¡
This makes me want to be a candy maker. So much molds and engineering and color is so fascinating to me
God this looks like it would be such a fun job!
I loooove Victorian candy so much.
is there some glut of less satisfying victorian candy making videos??
vindikatif now I for one would like to see an unsatisfying Victorian candy machine vid...
It is too good to see the process of candy making. Got interested to make candy
I love the song.
My goodness. It is GLORIOUS!
mmmm yeah boy loving that midi sounding soundtrack
I love that this is all done by hand.
I got 3 cavities just from watching this video.
This is now one of my favorite things. This form of advertising makes me actually want to buy this stuff
Everyone is talking about music and I'm wondering what those scissors must be like after a long day.
The presses and machinery is ingenious!
