- The Bay Area is known for being the birthplace of the sideshow. A sideshow is pretty much an outdoor party in the street, where people and car lovers get together and burn rubber (drift). Come with me as I travel around the Bay Area from San Francisco to Oakland to experience the culture. We also speak with local car clubs about sideshows. #bayarea #sideshow

They been doing this in the bay since I was a baby but in 05 it came back heavy and it was organized and not ignorant like it is nowadays every where else. These kids nowadays don’t know lol. Ok.. let's be correct about the Sideshow history. Late '87, in East Oakland. When folks started leaving the nite clubs.. Mr.Gee's, End Zone, Vintage Inn( seminary/ foothill), etc. Folks would swing it, by the clubs. Then roll to the after-hours parties, or go eat. Then folks from various Eastside hoods. Decided to centralize the Show, early '88. First spot, McDonald's parking lot, Church/ Foothill Blvd. Then it moved down the street to Taco Bell, Church/ Bancroft Ave. Then it spread everywhere. That's Town history! Fa Sho... Shout out to: A Touch of Class Corvette club, Falcon Boys, Birch st.Boys, The M.O.B. , Cadillac club, OG Foothill mobbin'...

Thanks for your response. It just irritates me. When people talk about Oakland, directly or indirectly. But don't give the correct history. Granted, unfortunately I was one of those people. That contributed in the wrong way. To O-Towns history. But I got a second chance with life. And I've succeeded in a positive way. That's why I feel qualified. To speak about Oakland. I survived, the "Life" in Oakland ( 17 years, & 2 street wars).

This isn't that cool when it's shutting down the Bay Bridge or prohibiting people from getting around on already crowded streets. This is just dumb. With all that money you throw into your "whips" you could get together and buy a piece of land just for you fools where you could do this all you want. The first sideshow I attended was on 68th and Foothill in 1991. Muscle cars only and I was a part of one of the first real muscle car clubs. Maro Boyz. Real hands can get it in a residential intersection like we used to do. We didn't weld our differential we got 12 bolts or 9 inches or even Auburn with FULL POSSI guts in the rear end smh. Constantly upgrading. Still got my 35th anniversary SS with upgrades but I don't go to sideshows anymore because most of these dudes really can't drive anymore

My first sideshow was at the pac n save back in like 99 nothing but muscle cars going dumb and after a few years it got crazy when the scraper era started. People was getting robbed left and right and then car clubs started cracking and brought out the muscle cars again. Now it’s just a bunch of buckets out there swangin.

They were out here other night, at the intersection for over an hour, just none stop swangin’ but I didn’t hear no music, just tires and fireworks. It was so eerie and definitely not crackin’. it was the one Instagram where they were setting cars on fire at 4 am.
