Great demo. As an amateur radio operator my immediate thoughts are FCC rules and regulations and what we can and can't do. For example, are we allowed to send encrypted data over this communications conduit? My immediate inclination says yes because it would be no different than using the many apps on my smart phone (banking, email, browser HTTPS, etc.) that encrypts my data.
I believe so, as we would be technically operating under the licence granted to the cell network company by the FCC that would not be held to the same rules as amature radio is since they dont have to "share" the spectrum with anyone and have been granted the exlusive use of the frequency at thoes bands.
