I used to ride this hub, I rate it highly, affordable and parts for maintenance are easily available. only issue I ever had was wearing down the teeth on the driver over the course of about 8/12 months, I used to do about 40kms commuting a day at the time.
Hey bud. I recent purchased a used Bmx from a buddy of mine. He stopped using it long time ago so I decided to take it off his hands. Well he has the colony wasp cassette hub but it has NO SOUND AT ALL! And when I’m riding it and I stop peddling and I the. I engage the peddling it skips and Cassie’s me to almost fall forward before it’s actually starts to peddle. Is the hub going bad? Do you know what it can be?
Sorry to hear that, it could be that there is a large amount of old grease in the driver making the pawls stick. Hence you have little to no engagement when pedalling and no sound when you coast. Take a look in there and maybe clean it!
Had this hub for 1 year. I've just ordered a tall order drone hub. What are your thoughts on the tall order hub? I will ride it pegless. Any tips, maintenance comments???
@@TheAnnoor that really depends on so many factors like amount of grease inside, spoke tension etc so it's really different per hub. Mine was alright nothing too impressive, I have heard Colony hubs being very loud tho. Bang for the buck if you are not willing to spend Profile money, go for a Colony or Tall Order hub.
They aren't direct engagement. Neither is the elite. They're high engagement hubs. Direct engagement is like stealth hubs the alienation zenith hubs or the onyx hubs. Also wasp hub is less then half the engagement points of the elite. 72 if I'm not mistaken. The teeth on the pawls helps with contact area but don't really helps with better engagement. The ratchet ring inside the hub is what makes the most difference.
@@stuartgibson lol riding since 06/07 ish on my first complete. Second bike was a full custom macneil Gary Young 2, Jay miron even complemented it once. Kinda fan girled and went and sent a big stair case lol
I own 2 of these hubs back wheel.(one RHD super old, LHD bought used this year barely used super quiet still). My RHD one is the one I use and is 5 plus years old from a old buddy who sold it to me for cheap and it still is going strong lol. Im def replacing the insides soon in the next month but im surprised its held up this long on the OG wheel and everything. Btw aftermarket hub guards are better
There might be some issues with frame fitment, but if that fits, then I don't see a reason why not. So yes, you can lace this hub to a 36 spoke 29" rim.
I had this hub for 5 years and still rides brand new
Niiice.

Thats a big commute on a BMX bike! The hub has a good price - quality ratio for sure
Sweet, I just bought one. Good to hear. Thanks for your post.
@@raw_si_siht enjoy ☺️
@@Millerdardz Indeed, will do brother. Salute.

Happen to have had one cross my path not too long ago! ua-cam.com/video/9eCrBxGjLgU/v-deo.html
if i get only the colony wasp cassette driver and install it into my hub would it sound the same as the regular hub
The driver will not fit other brand cassette hubs, so I guess the answer is no.
Stuart Gibson ok thank you
Did you check that you didn't lose the shim that goes inside the hub before the driver goes back on.
Yes, very certain
Thanks for the info.
They have 14 mm upgrade too
Wich hub is better colony wasp or tall order drone?
Wasp
That is a hard one to answer! I was really happy with my Wasp hub but I think I might have to say the Tall Order hub
@@stuartgibson 1.thanks
2. Yes i broke my head on this answer :)
how much clicking noise does it have compared to profile elite or profile mini as more clicking the better for me?
If anything it is more similar to the Elite than the Mini.
@@stuartgibson is it loud out of the box?

Glad you like them!
how many spokes do i need for the bigger side?
Laura Hansen 36 spokes total per wheel so half of that for one side.
if you run it without tricks sticks/guards and you don't degrease it for moar loud, it should last a long time.
Agreed, it should!
I would not want an alumimum cog over steel if your riding bmx!
Yet almost all front sprockets for BMX are made from aluminium. Except for the weight benefit there is hardly a difference in my opinion.
Could this fit on a 29” wheel

Oof epic
Can I have yours 😃🙂
No longer have mine, I'm sorry!
I hate the sound
Glad you are so positive 😂
The sound hates you to..
