WOW what a stunning bike.....I missed out on these things I was 12 in 1965 here in England.....straight onto cars aged 17.....got my first bike aged 63 now 70 its a 50 year old BSA still have it....around that time I fell in love with 60s Triumphs...my dream was to own a Bonnie from the 60s. By the time I had the money when I was 67 I decided it would be to much for me getting another old bike....I was slowing down. So I bought a brand new Triumph T100....hasn't got the class this machine in the video has....but I love it to bits....even got a set of short toga pipes like this one,....doesn't sound as great of course but still sound nice. Thank god there are still people keeping these stunning machines alive and care for them so well.
Thanks much for doing this video, Mike. You're really getting good at video, directing and editing. I probably should have talked about the restoration or what I know of it. I believe the bike was purchased by Gary, the restorer, in 1999. Most of the restoration took place in 2000. In 2011 Gary had a Triumph mechanic go over the bike to check it out and make any corrections or adjustments it needed. When not being worked on it was stored in a temperature and humidity controlled basement. Gary decided to sell it last year and posted a little note in one of the Triumph forums in facebook. That is where I saw it and contacted him. Gary has mostly done automotive restorations including a '67 GTO and an original Cobra. He also has a beautiful green '67 TR6 he restored. These restorations are a hobby to him. Thank you, Gary for selling me this beautiful bike that brings me back to my high school and college days.
Thanks a lot Scott. It was a great afternoon and such a pleasure capturing some shots of your beautiful bike! It's pretty photogenic, so it wasn't hard to make a nice movie ;)
Mark Ibinsen: Yes, finally had the courage to put the gaiter straps on. I was afraid to mess one up as there were no instructions. They came out great. I rerouted the tach cable so there is no danger of it touching the pipe. The regulator was not charging the battery so I replaced it with a different brand that stays cool and works well. Thanks for your comments.
Mark Ibinsen: Thank you for your comments Mark. I had to replace the voltage regulator. It wasn't charging the battery. Just overheating. I replaced it with a finned one that charges the battery and stays cool. I don't remember the brand name. The tach cable stays clear of the pipe so I think it's OK. I finally had the courage to put on the gaiter clamps. I had no instruction so I was afraid to mess them up. But they came out just fine.
Actually the single carburetor worked better on this engine than the twin carbs for normal riding. Better idle and torque. The twin carbs only gave a little extra at the top 10% of revs where it vibrated like hell. Absolutely a gorgeous bike.
Same deal here. MRS wants me to sell my 67 Triumph Trophy and my 72 Norton Commando. I just can't bare to do it. They are so much a part of me ! She has no clue. She just wants an empty garage. DUH, you can't enjoy an empty garage like my garage is now ! At least I can sit on them and remember my great rides and fun I had. You can't take that away from me !
@@TheMightyGarage I appreciate the time you take to post some of the best bikes out there for our viewing pleasure, I'm sure it inspires others to either finish a project or start one!
I just put Lucas rear turn signals on my '69 TR6R for safety. Too old to get rear-ended. Someday I'm going to polish my rocker boxes and intake manifold like yours. It really makes a difference. Beautiful bike.
My biggest regret after nearly 60 years of riding and loving motorsickles is turning a 64 T 120R gold and white everybit as clean as this one into a chopper...... Would love to have that one back STOCK
Beautiful restoration! Thanks for the close up shots. I picked up a 65 TR6SR this winter and am in the process of figuring out what is right and wrong on the bike. For now I'll just ride it.
There's something about a 60's Triumph which Edward Turner got right. And a gold one just seems to pop. My 1964 Tiger 90 is the same colour and gives me the same feeling every time I get it out of the garage and see it in the sun
Hi Tiger Jim, thanks a lot for your message. You have a beautiful bike. Just watched your intro and subscribed to your channel! Looking forward to watching your other movies later on. Best wishes, Mike
Greatings from ireland Things of beauty are triumphs, had a few in my time, that gold /white just pops! I currently ride a 02 buell thunderbolt, unique bike with a101 bhp Harley 1200 sportster motor, great fun in the twisties! BTW love the channel and subscribed!
Many thanks for your great comment. Much appreciated. Those Thunderbolts are really cool! Did I hear correctly that Buell is making another comeback? Best wishes, Mike
Get one trev, don't be sitting in that care home in your rocking chair at 99 wondering " what if" or " why didn't I get that bike'. Even if you just put it in your garage to look at, just get it.
my first big m'cycle ! Except for the two carbs I had. Mine was called a "Bonneville ". I now have a 1967 Trophy (single carb. ) in Black & white . Also has electronic timing now. No more points to deal with ! Love Triumphs & Nortons !
Thanks a lot for your note. The 60's Bonnies and Trophies were some of the best bikes! There's something very cool coming to the cul-de-sac on Sunday morning that I hope you will like! Best wishes, Mike
Had to watch it again Mike. Honestly, that noise just brings such a smile on my face! What an opportunity to have back in the 60's to buy one brand new. Think I'll have to go and get mine out tomorrow...
hehe, you must ride yours tomorrow Jim, before the weather gets too nasty. It's getting pretty cold and damp here in Oregon, a lot like England! Cheers, Mike
wish I had my old registration. If I had the engine serial # I could see if that is my bike ! NO, wait. Mine had two carbs. She was a Bonneville . Had to sell her when I got drafted into the US Army. Dad wanted it off his driveway ! He hated m'cycles for some unknown reason. Maybe he had no balance and could not ride them. I never found out his reasons ! Miss her dearly ! (You too Dad !)
That is definitely the best-restored Trophy I've ever seen , better than new I suspect . It looks a lot like my W650 ! (sacrilege I know...but true ) You should get Pam back and compare them . My 73 Daytona was mint , but this TR6SR is better , hats-off to the restorer . Dave NZ
Trophy? My uncle had a 1971 Trophy but it had the high pipes exiting to the left side. I guess Triumph swapped the names around to different styles of bikes. By any other name this Trophy is certainly a charmer.
Hi, the early bikes up to about 68 had the exhausts as per video then from 68/69 they put the high pipes and high 'western' or USA spec bars on them too. The 71 trophy would have been the oil in frame P93 frame (taller) model with the "western/USA" spec tank, exhaust and bars. Both in my opinion are basically poetry in motion. The bike in the video is incredibly beautiful.

The Triumph is as much art as it is a motorcycle. It’s what to me a motorcycle should be, that one is done right , Beautiful !
I have the 1964 T120R - They really are a beautiful bike.
Didn't think I was into Triumphs, beeing more of a Norton guy, but this bike... wow! A timeless beauty!
It's beautiful, isn't it. Thanks for your note. Best wishes
That is a real beauty, thanks for showing it.
👍👍😉
I had a 1966 TR6R it was a beautiful machine ,so much fun to ride.English bikes were rolling sculptures
Oh man, it's such a beautiful bike, isn't it! Thanks for your note. Cheers, Mike
Simple this one, fantastic.😊

Beautiful jewel of a bike.
Beautiful ‘65 TR-6. The older brother to my 1970 TR-6. Much shared DNA.

That’s what I call an honest daily rider bike. I had a 1982 Triumph Tiger Trail- great bike. Should be still making them.

The apex of motorcycle design.
Real nice, mine was a '66 but I always wanted one like that.
The perfect bike.
The tach cable routing looks really funky. It's laying on the hot exhaust.

Nice ride! Never a fan of the pee shooter pipes but they are growing on me. They always sound incredible when I see them in a video.

That is nice indeed.

They all come with tool kits, or should.
Where can I get a set of those NKG spark plug wires?!? I've never seen those before!
I really love your channel. Can you post a video on JAWA bikes.
Thank you Ranjit. I don't think I know anyone with a Jawa but I will keep my eyes and ears open! Cheers, Mike

@@triumphmanful the Trophy and Tiger models both had a single carburetor.
if your friend is interested in selling, im up in vancouver looking for a 60's bonneville now, (I'm sure he's not, but its worth asking!)
