The St. Ives Community Choir has come a long way in musical terms since it was formed in 2004. It boasts a library of songs ranging from Abba to Verdi and much in between including songs sung in Swahili, Shona, Bantu, Italian and Kernewek languages. It has performed in a variety of locations in Devon & Somerset as well as its homeland of the Duchy. Whether performing in Truro Cathedral or at the launching of a new sailing boat the choir has delighted audiences with its music whilst in the process raising thousands of pounds for charity.
The choir has performed at the Lowender Peran festival and the Gorsedh Awen ceremony and made a video recording in Cornish of "we wish you a merry Christmas" for a Kelly's Ice cream advert. The choir is in particular demand at Christmastime when its vibrant and varied selection of songs are much appreciated. The choir sings for charity and no-one is paid for their services, which makes this community choir somewhat unique.
The recordings were made at the choir's rehearsal location in Carbis Bay and was a dress rehearsal for its 20th anniversary concert in St. Ives. Accompanist is Alison Ashby and MD William Thomas.
