With the upgraded storage on your ship you could carry a couple of each heal and leave the bulk of the heals on your transportation. If you don't have to stand over the still you could set up some alcohol production to make while you travel. Not sure as I'm not that far yet

I thought the footsteps sounds were depended on the surface you're walking on. So on soft sand there's no sound. Maybe on grass too.
