I know this is a really late post but when I first heard this song I had it on repeat and I absolutely loved it . Then a day later, my cousin who was 2 years longer than me died of a overdose. Since then and probably forever this song will always remind of him. The sadness of him passing and how much I miss him. Sad connection for such a good song.

Few years ago when I was in a bad place, that part “I wanna be the one you shield, I wanna be the one that your love can heal”, helped me make a switch in my head. When you sing it to yourself it makes you realize that you are the only one who can help you get up and that your love can heal you as well ☺️
So so true. been in that situation myself 17/18 years ago and was living in another country and my world turned upside down within an hour. not nice but after locking myself away for a few weeks with my music and a few beer, managed to get my head back on track. this is a great song and will never go out of fashion.

this song for me always has a special meaning. I always connect it with anxiety and a inner struggle. Biting my toungue - trying to hide anxiety for so long. The hook is like my inner voice calling me: If anxiety comes back (shaking the sky) I will face it (following the lightning). Only that way I can be redefined. It's like my inner me screaming you got this, I can recover just keep me alive (I know, originally he says alight ;)) which also makes me very emotional because I was 3,5 bad instances away from not doing so on my lowest low. It's my inner voice screaming: Don't leave me behind, can you not see how much you can shine if you believe you can fight it. I can become the one I was trying to find, trying to to be.
