Put set of M.2&Heat sink into case slot by holding on M.2 body to prevent movement of M.2 and pad.
I just got this same exact one recently but I’m not getting full speeds, I got a Crucial P3 and it’s read and write is supposed to be 3.5gb/s but I’m only getting 1gb/s with this enclosure but I decided to open up my laptop and put it in the other PCIe slot and I’m getting full speed now
6 days for a response might be a bit late, but this is the answer: the enclosure clearly says it supports speeds up to 10gbps. When you divide that by 8 to get GBps (which is what your PC shows during transfers or speed tests), you get 1.25. Add some losses due to multiple interface changes (pcie 4x4 to usb and back) and cable resistance and the max real world speed comes to almost exactly 1GBps. If you want higher speeds look at some other models. Orico makes enclosures that support 20 or even 40gbps.Those are obviously more expensive, but if you want faster stuff you have to pay for it. Keep in mind that you also need a compatible port on your computer to get those higher speeds. For 20 gbps you need at least usb 3.2 gen 2x2, and for 40bgps you will need usb4 or thunderbolt 3 or 4. Tldr. your enclosure performs exactly as advertised, there's no problem.
That probably because of your usb hub limitations/or USB limitations in General. The pcie slots are optimized and made for this and a converter will slow it down significantly
Unfortunately the main bottleneck is the enclosure. It says on the box that it does a maximum of 10 gbps transfer speeds, and eventhough in theory USB 3.2 can do 20 gbps, that means that IN THEORY, the maximum reads someone can get with a 950 EVO is (10 x 125) = 1250 MB/S, but in reality this is more like 900 to 1000 ish. So your actually throwing away about 1500 MB/S R/W speeds due to the limit on this enclosure….. Look for the 40 gbps version… but at these speeds, it might make more sense to get a regular external Ssd.
Not sure but if you upgrade your nvme or have 1 extra then this but if you dont upgrade it and just use for storage then external. İm not a expert this is my choice lol
You can use any ssd of any brand and that of any size (upto 2 tb, beyond that it might not fit in the case due to number of NAND chips on each side of SSD, which ultimately increases the thickness of drive). Just make sure SSD must have same supporting Protocols as of case.
Oh yes buddy, you can it can do efficiently, I don't have the exact model tho but, I have the transparent case one it works great with it, Plus I use it with my phone to transfer data or keep a backup.
Will this work properly as external ssd for xbox. (I know next gen optimised games won't directly run off the external drive but atleast Will I be able to store the games on this and copy them back and forth)
(Not sure about Mac ARM chips, but on INTEL chips, yes, definitely you can) Remember 2 things, First : Microsoft doesn't allow you to install Windows OS directly on devices connected via USB by traditional methods (ie, making a bootable pendrive and installing a Windows OS from bootable pendrive by formatting the main drive[connected via USB interface] or creating partitions [on same disk] and proceeding ahead. For this, there are 3 solutions : Either clone Windows OS from any other machine currently running on Windows OS (Remember, it wastes too much drive space, worst way) OR Either install Windows OS via CLI (Best but risky if you haven't done it earlier) OR Plug the main drive onto the motherboard and install windows OS via traditional methods, Again, the best way, but the required disk slot should be present on Motherboard) Second : Always make sure you use USB 3 or above supported ports for plugging an external drive as an OS drive for your PC OR your experience of running OS from external drive could be much worse than running an OS from internal old hdd's 😂 Because of limitations of Port speeds (USB 2.0 or below) TIP : If you are a techy, you can multi boot an external drive 😉 (Requires a lot of R&D and time, but yes, you can (eg, Windows, linux, Mac OS, Tails, etc) on a single external disk) I hope this proves to be useful 🤟.
@@shreyasdharashivkar8027 anyway it will be empty when we are using it for first time right 🤷♂️.... but my doubt is should i format it by pc or can i format and use directly from my phone?(because i don't have a pc )and ...when i want to connect to pc after some time and i hav files in it will it work normally? 🤔 or should I format 🤔
Why do you need a 980 pro in this enclosure..?? It will bottleneck the speeds because 980 pro can clearly go way beyond 10gbps.. go for the ones which specify 40gbps.. Orico does sell them on their website. Don't buy this one for expensive Nvme SSD.
I don't understand what makes this one stand apart ? There are compact enclosures with built in fan to dissipate heat. I will take those over this, anytime.
Seems a bit stupid to be honest the old optiplex you plugged it into probably has an open m.2 slot and you get a real bad bottleneck from a bad usb cable like that And for the people asking about consoles most modern consoles have an m.2 slot internally
This company's enclosures suck. They're slow and janky. I have 3 and they all tend to randomly connect and disconnect the SSD when plugged in. I'd guess it's a poor soldering job. Then again, it's basically dropshipped Chinese junk.
this is a piece of shit bro, stopped working bcoz of heat. Buy an external kingston SSD XS2000, best in class, pocket friendly, doesn't heat much, Read/Write speed upto 2000Mb/s, supports USB 3.2 Gen 2. Comes with a silicone cover to protect it from scratches and dents

You put the metal heat sink on wrong. It's supposed to slide over the edge of the ssd.

No
