Brother Harold speaks the truth. You people are sadly mistaken or igornant. Need to check a little deeper and see who the persecuted people were and why.

After reading the Bible cover to cover, Im not so sure Baptist doctrine even counts as being Christian as compared to the Church Christ (a Jewish sect?) built through his Apostles... pretty much true of the other Proestants and their medieval roots as well.

Love to hear bro Sightler. Too bad he makes many factually verifiable statements that are just not true.
Maybe he should have steered clear of history. He makes many statements not based on any facts whatsoever.

@@chriscravens8318 You words show you to be a liar. from Martyrs Mirror, in the 1st Century. p63. Around 60AD It is recorded, even by several papistic writers, that there were such people and
such a sect as were afterwards designated by the names, The Poor of Lyons, Waldenss,
Albigenses, who were also called Anabaptists, or Baptists, on account of the like faith which they
had in common; as shall be shown hereafter. Therefore the papists complain of their being
considered of such high antiquity; for some say that they existed in the time of Sylvester, in
315AD, and others assert, with more justness, too, in the time of the apostles. from Martyrs Mirror, in the 4th Century. p153. P.J. Twisck records, for the year 306, that Cocstantine the Great, the son of the believing Helena, was baptized in Jordan, in the 65 year of his life, after having been instructed; from which it is apparent, that at that time Christians left their children unbaptized, in order that they themselves might believe and be baptized.
IN the time of Sylvester, there was taught and maintained the same doctrine which was afterwards maintained by countless numbers of the baptistic Waldenses, yea that those churches which in the 11th, 12th, 13th, and in subsequent centures were styled Waldenses, Albigenses, and lastly, Mennonites, or Anabaptists, had existed already at that time, and indeed, long before.
Jacob Mehrning, bitterly complains, in a very old book, saying, "These heretics (the people mentioned above) have always had many sects among them; but of all that ever existed, none was more prenicious to the church of God (understand the Romen church) than the Poor of Lyons (the Waldenses or Anabaptists), and this for three reasons: In the first place, because of their antiquity; some asserting that they existed already in the days of Sylvester, others referring them even to the time of the apostiles." and "this is not a new sect that originated only at that time (that is, in the time of Waldus); for the papistic writers themselves confess that they existed already in the time of Pope Sylvester, nay, long before him, even in the time of the apostiles."
P.J. Twisck, quoting from Bullinger: "That the followers of Donatus were simular to the Anabaptists (whom he calls Baptists); that they taught, that no one ought to be compelled to do good or to accept the faith. and that every heretic should be left to follow his particular faith without restraint or compulsion."
