Get this, we signed up for a 128 day world cruise with MSC and we missed over 15 ports, not all because of war. Our cruise changed only 20 days ahead of start date with only 9 stops in the first 30 days! We could not cancel and received no refunds until 900 plus passengers complained for 40 days!!! Yelling, complaining, and we finally got $500 pp. Don't trust a cruise, except Royal Carribean. I was told I could not get off in Miami, without waiting in line at 3 am, to get a ticket to get off with the first groups, so I could go to a doctor's appt I had set 5 months in advance for 11:30 am!! We docked at 7 am!!! I had to yell in the lobby and finally a random employee told me to go to the captain or Hotel Manager, which is what I had to do and it worked!! All the excursions got off the ship at 9 am! So chat folks in our cruise chat suggested I sign up for an excursion and get off and don't go on excursion. MSC is a bad cruise line.
Fantasy class ships are what $150/pp for the entire cruise? Grand Cayman is a tender port. It wont take much to get canceled. IMO if this guy is that irate and unstable, throw him in the brig. In international water the Captain is Judge and Jury. And IIRC carnival flies a Panama flag which means those laws can be in effect. No such things as American rights on international waters under a foreign flag. What an idiot.
I had a flight cancelled, everyone in line yelled at the gate person, she said we will call your name if you get on this one. When it was my turn, I said, I’m sorry you have to deal with this, I just want to know if I can make this flight, or I need to go to other side of airport for a different flight. She said “stand right here”, 30 people in front of me yelling at her,the next 20 yelling at her, guess who got the first open seat, me. 🤣 Kindness goes a long way.
We had a port canceled on our honeymoon in 2024 because there were 3 hurricanes in the area. We were happy we were being kept safe and we got another day on the ship it never crossed our minds to ask for OBC. They should ban people like that who yell at others.
That cruiser needs to be restricted to his or her stateroom, kicked off the ship at the next port of call, then needs to be banned for life. Sounds like an entitled Karen.
Totally agree Don. I never understand people getting annoyed about missing ports. It only happens for genuine reasons and is part of cruising. Never any excuse to be rude to crew.
I worked a retail job where the more you yelled, swore at me and or threw things at me the better the chance the manager would give you whatever unreasonable thing you wanted. Teaching people to be bad.
I worked in retail also at thst is exactly what management did. I never put up with it, in the end I refused to deal eith people like that. Once they even called the police but management still gave the customer what they wanted. Makes me mad.

After all, you signed an agreement acknowledging that the itinerary can be change and the cruise line doesn't owe you anything....except, perhaps, port charges/taxes.

This lady was yelling at me so loud one time my supervisor grabbed the phone & calmly said "how DARE you speak to my employee like that !" She hung up.
:::nodding::: I was a telephone operator through high school and college. Some days I would get in the car at the end of my shift and just weep with frustration and sadness for being treated so rudely.
In 2003 we were on the Disney Magic, we missed Grand Cayman due to winds. Captain made a b-line to Cozumel and we arrived at about 9pm that night, instead of the next day. Disney put on a sail in party as we arrived. That was a lot of fun.
Totally Agree Don. If he pulled that in an airport they would haul him off in cuffs and no flight. Cruise ships are floating cities of around 3000+ people with virtually no crime. Learn how to sail peacefully or be banned off the cruise line and exited at the next port.
I am in the customer service industry and it’s really bad right now. I am not sure what’s going on but I feel like folks feel like if they treat you bad and don’t stop you will give them anything they want. Maybe it works for them in some places but I won’t tolerate my employees being treated this way.
There is an old saying "Gimme got shot." I think all customers need to remember that. No one is really intitled to anything in this world. I'm just thankful to wake up and breathe.
This reminds me of an experience I had many years ago at the San Francisco airport. We were waiting with a couple of hundred other passengers for a 747 flight to New York. There was a terrible storm over the airport with heavy blowing rain and almost continuous lighting. The airline announced the flight was going to be delayed for an undetermined time period. The crowd of passengers were becoming unruly and shouting at the gate agents and demanding the flight continue immediately. I thought things might get out of control so I went off to an out of the way corner and set down in no hurry. As a pilot (no commercial) - if the pilot doesn’t want to fly in bad weather, I don’t either. After about an hour the storm passed out of the flight path and we took off for a smooth and safe flight. Dealing with the general public is a real eye opener !

People forget that there are real people, just like them, on the other side of their title and duties. Sounds like that particular passenger overstepped multiple times. I wouldn't want them back on my cruise line!
I flew into Hawaii for my first cruise from there.I was to board Norwegian and island hop. I went all out, first class seats on my flight,an oversized suite onboard. Everything was set. My Dear Hawaiian neighbor next door oversaw which sights I MUST see while there. The daughter was my personal tour guide…everything was going perfectly. Then the hurricane came….my ship couldn’t dock to offload passengers,my one night hotel room was included. Now my total vacation was ripped apart. Norwegian covered me for the additional nights on land while my cruise was cut short by two full days. All the patio furniture in my hotel room was INSIDE in my room due to the hurricane. My start was rough, but Norwegian came through 100%. My refund was substantial for missed days. What was left of my cruise was 100% memorable and while we had some rainy days on land….I left with a million memories. I blamed NO ONE for that dumb hurricane…it’s nature, it happens. My timing was off..sad to say.
Just got off the breeze yesterday, 10th cruise. Captain kept us away from the storm. Ship was rocking the first couple of days and we had to miss progresso. ( Wasn't gonna get off the ship anyway ) At brunch on the 3rd morning there was a woman demanding a full cruise refund from the wait staff... Keep in mind some of the servers were carrying trays with 10 plates on them while the rest of us only took a couple of steps at a time. She was so rude to them. I was really wishing one of them would have told her... NOT MY FREAKING DEPARTMENT LADY... I think the whole dinning room would have stood up and applauded 😮😮
no one has the right to complain and demand anything when you book a cruise in hurricane season, the cruise company’s clearly tell you in their fine print that they are not responsible for miss ports or cancellations because of inclemate weather
Agree agree agree. The line has the right to change itineraries for a lot of reasons with weather and mechanical being the top two. You don't need people like that so ban them. All cruise lines should do more of that just to make the next cruise more pleasurable.
This person had no right to treat the crew that way. Show people respect and you will get respect. Acting like a angry child, gets you no place at all. And it gets you nothing at all. Booking a cruise during hurricane season, you should expect to miss a port or two. Shame on him.
That is unacceptable. My husband and I just sailed Celebrity Beyond and missed Grand Cayman due to the weather. They changed our itinerary and we went to Nassau instead. We were looking forward to going to Grand Cayman and had plans. However, that's part of cruising. Sometimes it does not go as planned. All the more reason to book another cruise. 😂
Apparently he was absent from school the day they taught Civility. There seems to be a lot more of those people around the U.S. lately, did they all miss those lessons?
Sad about that and on a favorite first Carnival Cruise ship of mine that got me on a spirit a few years later and back to saving saving saving to do some later in retirement or semi-retirement.
Anyone that thinks the crew, especially the ones we interact with, want to miss a port is completely wrong. Lets remember, when the ship is in port that is when the crew usually gets time off because less people are on board. So a missed port means they end up working more and by the way they don't get any additional pay. Remember that the next time you want to blame them. If you have an issue, bring it to their attention and let it get escalated and resolved.
Nope, not acceptable behavior 👎🏻👎🏽👎🏻 Great point and hopefully the irate complainers, that’s not thinking with a full brain, will listen, understand, and change their ways!!!! It will definitely make all our cruising experiences so much better 😇🛳️🛳️

They didn’t care of their switch which happened, when we did back to back- bad enough to repack and then change and promised to give her a handicap, once we sail??? If was an awful risky cruise, especially if she fell! Shower was impossible too small for a chair!! Did they care. No!!! So much for being nice!!
As the saying goes, you attract more bees with honey than vinegar. That's especially true when dealing with people that are trying to help you. Totally agree - BAN!
Someone on our Harmony ship WENT TO THE NEWS to complain. Smh
Agree unacceptable behavior
Is it that self entitlement talking, cruise passenger lives in his/her world. Their priviledge is showing, shame on you!
Not everyone thinks of others.
Agreed with you. Thanks Don
Today was the first time Don ever heard of "June's Journey" -
Just got off the breeze yesterday, 10th cruise.
I feel sorry for the family of this guy. They have to live with him.
no one has the right to complain and demand anything when you book a cruise in hurricane season, the cruise company’s clearly tell you in their fine print that they are not responsible for miss ports or cancellations because of inclemate weather
Everyone is triggered and they are not grateful for their life! Most do not get to go on a cruise so I always feel blessed and very lucky when I do!
I completely agree with you on this point
That is unacceptable. My husband and I just sailed Celebrity Beyond and missed Grand Cayman due to the weather. They changed our itinerary and we went to Nassau instead. We were looking forward to going to Grand Cayman and had plans. However, that's part of cruising. Sometimes it does not go as planned. All the more reason to book another cruise. 😂
They should have banned him permanently.
Great rant! You must be taking some potent cold medicine right now.
Completely agree - Ban him grom sll cruises. He is being ignorant
No please don't ban him, he may sow up on Royal Caribbean. The line I like, keep on Carnival. Lol
You’re a good man Don. Aloha
Apparently he was absent from school the day they taught Civility. There seems to be a lot more of those people around the U.S. lately, did they all miss those lessons?
Keep up the good work!
Sad about that and on a favorite first Carnival Cruise ship of mine that got me on a spirit a few years later and back to saving saving saving to do some later in retirement or semi-retirement.
I totally agree with you Don
Mama always said you catch more flies with honey.... I don't suppose everyone learned that.
Noo keep them on Carnaval I dont want them on my cruise line 😄
Nope, not acceptable behavior 👎🏻👎🏽👎🏻
Great point and hopefully the irate complainers, that’s not thinking with a full brain, will listen, understand, and change their ways!!!! It will definitely make all our cruising experiences so much better 😇🛳️🛳️
