That was a Great Breakdown of the Intricacies of Jimmy’s “Army of Guitars” as he’s stated before. When I watch these Demos of Jimmy’s guitar work you realize just how difficult his guitar parts are to execute. Well done Sir!
Thanks for your upload. I check out videos like these because I'm a multi-instrumentalist. But my main instrument has always been Bass. That's what I bought when I was 16, and learned. The other instruments just came along as and when, and I have never had too much difficulty learning them, but I would never call myself a Guitarist, or a Drummer, or a Keyboardist. I know my strengths and weaknesses, but I'm trying to improve all the time. I know I'm a good guitarist, but I could be tons better, so videos like these help. Especially with a player as conflicted I am with as Page. I'm a huge George Harrison fan. And when I hear people talk about "My Sweet Lord" I just have to say, Harrison? They should rename Plagiarism to Pageiarism, he stole so many other people's work it's almost criminal. And the people that say, well he did it better, I'm like come on. If someone stole your car, suped it up, made it win the Grand Prix, you'd still be saying that's my fucking car!!!! And I notice in this video you keep defending your right to play sloppy. The thing is, I think Page, in the studio, ain't all that sloppy. Maybe "Heartbreaker" has some iffy moments, but I think every album he did with Led Zeppelin, he is recording really flawlessly executed work, and guitar arrangements that are very thought out and composed. And I'm not a Zeppelin fan. BLACK SABBATH!!!!!!! The only reason I bought Led Zeppelin albums was because of JOHN PAUL JONES, and how he worked with John Bonham. I am a John Paul Jones fan and advocate. I really could not stand the way Robert Plant sang in those days, all the push push and orgasmic squeals, but loved his solo career. I think Shaken 'N' Stirred is one of the best albums of the 80's. Page live is sloppy as hell. I was there at Live Aid watching him play!!! It wasn't great. And any performance I see of him between 1971 - 1988 is like that. That first year of Zep's existence he was great. But then .... by the time you get to 1975, it's honestly Jones and Bonham making the other two sound better than what they were. In my opinion. But Page in the studio is great. That's why I'm here. Cuz Page really knows guitar. Of the Clapton / Beck / Page trinity, I think he's the one that's the most musical. I mean without doubt he's the strongest composer by miles (when he's not taking someone else's tunes, he's still doing it on Presence!), but it's not just that. I mean Jeff Beck is Top 10 for me, of the 3 I just think he's at another level, but Page has so much to offer. Chord arrangements. Textures. He's just really well versed in the instrument and the sounds it can produce.
Now this is some funky stuff your great man you come up with the really cool stuff when this is funky great job dude another great lesson now I know why I'm subscribed to this channel good music thanks
New found respect for you, my man! It takes a lot of patience to work through a song like this , and get it accurate. I don’t think I have the patience, especially that great , awkward Page solo - only Jimmy Page could delve into something like that! Anyways, great lesson - AS ALWAYS!! Cheers!!
Hey my man.lve been watching ,love the occaisional guitar fails you have been doing and your steady pick of songs l love.l just got a Taylor acoustic,my first "real American Acoustic guitar.Sounds amazing.Wouldnt mind taking an acoustic trip thru a killer classic.Like Ooh La La from the faces or Mandolin Wind from Hot Rod or Prodigal Son from Beggars Banquet or Thank You from Zep ll or Hangman or Tangerine...l think you get the picture😅.As always ,killer channel.
I always see people posting comments with the word "underrated," so I tend to avoid it. The album, Presence, and particularly this song, however, are definitely underrated! Some of the best Jimmy Page riffs ever (Nobody's Fault But Mine, Achilles Last Stand, For Your Life, Royal Orleans). Thank you for this one!
Great lesson, this is my favorite Page focused Album...you could do every song and get lots of interest IMO Nobody's Fault, Candy Store Rock, Royal Orleans etc, this one and of course Achilles Last Stand. Great Page work.
Hey, i love your videos they help me learn songs from my Favorite artist Jimi Hendrix. Can you please make video how to play Bold as love? And please if there is something hard to play can you give hands placement? Sometimes i have problems seeing what are you playing. Much love thanks fot videos❤
Great Song !! Has anybody heard the sound at the end of the "Heartbreaker" Guitar solo ( Studio Cut )? Its the sound of either Robert Taking a breath or maybe John Paul Turned up his Bass..? ( an Amp with the Reverb springs. You can hear a waver in the sound. It's Interesting to me~
Definately an obscure LZ track that never got much of my attention, but my 3 year old loves it and his constant requests for it got me listening to it almost daily and I really appreciate it like I never thought I would.
ABSOLUTELY awesome breakdown of this track.
Underrated one! Not easy to nail that sloppy yet impressive playing by Page. You aced it!

That filthy pick rake in the solo gets me everytime I hear it in my head phones. Presence is such an awesome album if you are a guitar/drum jam fan.
What is “The Object” of this lesson? 👏
Good one
Excellent choice

Youre the car remodel guy arent ya?
According to Jimmy in his book it is a 1960
I think Robert was in a wheelchair on this. Am I right?
Man that middle position on a selector switch between your humbuckers gets a funky sound
That's what she said!
finally. Presence has aged the best of all the albums. Guitars!
Achilles Last Stand is my fav and Nnnnnono no....body's fault.
It is a great guitar record, very Page focused album

One of my favorite zep songs. Genius writing by Jimmy as always.

Maybe there might be a Telly in there somewhere maybe
Why bother , without the rest of the band , it’s a waste of time
Accurate in detail and back ground and explained in plain English. Thank You for
Your tutorial and time and effort to do it
Stephen White 😊
Amazing!
This was Jimmy trying to sound like Jeff Beck.
Excellent. I had not really thought of that before ...
