Bobby Gerhart's 8 wins in this race are even more remarkable when one remembers he had only 1 other win at Talledega out of 341 starts over 32 seasons running 340 of those starts as an owner driver, and that every single one of those wins was running part time in seasons where Frank Kimmel, ARCA's most dominant driver with 80 wins and 10 titles in 503 starts (most wins, most titles, and most starts for the series) was racing.
When I did a bit of research on him, I couldn't believe his record in that race. He clearly knows what to do when it comes to winning races at Daytona.
This wasn't the best race I have ever seen, but it was by far the funniest. I remember laughing my as off when they announced that they would restack the field after the first crash, knowing how poorly it would go.
NASCAR overtime just needs to not be a thing anymore. I remember watching a truck race a few years ago at Charlotte Roval. The rule is when the leader takes the white flag the next flag ends the race. The third attempt at overtime they decided to wait to throw the yellow until after the leader took the white flag just to get the damn race over with.
7:19 This crash kick-started an absolutely horrendous season for the 48 team, both on and off track. The following race, the team fell out early with problems. Race three saw them withdraw because of engine problems not allowing them to even practice. Then came race four at Talladega. A new nose piece was fitted to the 48, but as soon as driver Brad Smith began pacing, the oil pressure tanked, and he brought the car down pit road. They tried to fix it, but to no avail. Then, later that night or early the next morning, team owner James Hylton, his son James Jr. and crew chief Terry Strange were involved in an accident that sadly took the lives of both Hyltons. Brad Smith took over the team, and still runs it today as Brad Smith Motorsports, running the 48 in honor James Hylton.
Whilst it's devastating the circumstances the team suffered. It's good to here that it's still being run today. Thanks for making me aware of this by the way.
I appreciate the kind words. I've only been doing this consistently for a couple of months now, so it takes time. However, the support this channel has had already has blown my mind.
Mark Thompson had several massive crashes, see 1996 Atlanta or example, and arguably the most brutal Arca race evr on the old, old true oval Atlanta configguration. It was also the season finale, too. Also hey, Leilani Munter, hippie vegan chick who got interviewed by the Beeb last year,I don't remember her doing that well but good on her or sticking to her principles though.
@@Ramtamtama not quite. As shown in the video, the rule allows for a restart to be triggered on the final lap itself, after the white flag has been taken.
Interesting variation on the green-white-checkered, this green-white-yellow-red-yellow-green-white-yellow-red-yellow-green-white-checkered. Also funny that Jerry De Weerdt somehow managed to finish 10th among all this carnage. By the way, I got confused by the name of the race and thought it was at Lucas Oil Raceway (Indianapolis Raceway Park), took me a few minutes to realize it was at Daytona, lol.
I really enjoy watching NASCAR personally. In my opinion it's not perfect. However, I still enjoy watching it. I still really enjoyed this ARCA race also.
The thing I hate the most about Nascar/ARCA. Overtime/added laps rules... The worst. I understand everyone wants to end a race under green flag but nothing's more annoying than adding laps on top of the scheduled one... Race should always end when it was scheduled to end not way after it
Ahhhh good ol' arca - the racing series with veteran racers and rookies full of adrenaline ready to make ridiculous errors. Another solid video!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
1 word arca brakes lol
This indeed the most ARCA moment to ever ARCA
Indeed it is
ARCA gunna ARCA

I remember this race...
Oh and the Kiss is a tradition at Venturini, he does that every time one of his drivers wins
huh, interesting.
Ah ok, never knew that. Thanks for letting me know.
kaulig does it better tho 😈
Note to self, if offered a ride by venturini, don't win
The big kiss at the end had me in stiches.

@@thejman3489 Trucks don't race at the Charlotte Roval lol. But Daytona 2022 for the Xfinity Series in August would be a great showing.
@@fourty47seven Now that I think of it I think it was the year they did the Dayton road course.
Oval racing certainly is something quite interesting, not just turning left like many think
I think oval racing is a lot harder than it looks.
It's arca, little idiots who don't know how to use brakes and crap like that. It's a very laughed at part in the oval racing community.

That Kiss on the end put me on a top gear like situation on the "back to the Studio"
3:29 That guy who threaded the needle definitely has some balls and really quick thinking.
I was the car chief on the 66. We had a car land on us, cut the nose off, got it to roll, and loaded the car by the time race finally finished.
Awesome to hear from someone who was participating in some form or another at this event. Shame the race didn't end as you and the team had hoped for.
I love arca so much. I wish all top three series had that last lap rule.
I also think ARCA is a really cool racing series.
Yup, I remember this like it was yesterday
This year's ARCA race has Malcolm in the Middle in it. Pretty awesome.
This was my first ARCA Race, can't say I wasn't amazed!
It was definitely an interesting race to get your ARCA race watching experience off the mark.
American sports - the only place where the numbers 2 and 02 are compleeeetely different...
Zane Smith just won in Daytona as im watching this. Weird.
I remember watching that live, ARCA is a trip sometimes.
Gotta say I was digging that #8 Budweiser tribute scheme they had there 👀
That is an awesome livery I agree.
Why isotherm production value and narrator that great and there are only a few thousand viewers? UA-cam is dumb. Just mentioning „Prank Bros“.
I appreciate the kind words. I've only been doing this consistently for a couple of months now, so it takes time. However, the support this channel has had already has blown my mind.
Just normal ARCA brakes moment
Every good story ends with a passionate kiss
I watched this one live, and it was one of the many times I felt embarrassed watching ARCA.

Doesn't Suprise me at all. They should make an ARCA video game fr
I just got this recommended after the end of this year’s Australian GP. 😭
Bill Venturini is weird lol. I guess kissing his driver was his tradition when his drivers win... get Hailie Deegan in the car lol.
5:51 It's been a while since I've looked at anything ARCA related, but WTF kind of rule is that?
Because they only do one lap in Daytona and Talladega
They don’t do that rule anymore
NASCAR kind of adopted it with the Green-White-Checker Finish rule
@@Ramtamtama not quite. As shown in the video, the rule allows for a restart to be triggered on the final lap itself, after the white flag has been taken.

I remember that was my first ARCA race lol, I became crazy when Holmes went on his side
Edit: lmao never knew Venturini kissed Michael Self
An interesting race to introduce yourself to ARCA to.
Well they say life imitates art....well hop in an ARCA lobby on iracing and see the carnage
Add the Daytona 500 of this year to the list
I’m a huge fan of Europeans covering stock car racing, it’s good for growth. I do apologize for arca on behalf of America, they’re trying.
I really enjoy watching NASCAR personally. In my opinion it's not perfect. However, I still enjoy watching it. I still really enjoyed this ARCA race also.
The top lane is called the outside while the bottom lane is called the inside
Ah ok, thanks for clarifying for me.
Couple things, Bill ALWAYS kisses his drivers and I did see this one live on TV with my dad. Race was good until everyone wrecked out
I remember this race. It was painful to watch.

Man the ARCA series can't catch a brake or use them either 😂
If an ARCA race is still green, it wont be green for long...
There is a reason why in the other NASCAR leagues they follow a policy of "the next flag ends the race" once the white is taken...
There was a Truck race (at a Dirt Track?) that was even dumber than this.
@@LeonheartDeltalook at last years xfinity race at Daytona in the summer
Yeah we don’t talk about arca…
Por creed:(
Classic no Arca brakes wreckfest and I hate the finish under green rule it 200 miles
Common ARCA moment
Edit: seriously, watching this race live I seriously said "FFS ARCA"
This video proves that we need more men kissing in motorsport
ARCA shitbox moment
I would've been throwing hands with my team owner after that...
*1999 Belgian gp start crash has entered the chat*
That was also a long time to complete a lap, albeit not the final one.
Arca is so cringey to watch
