this is probably my favourite 2.0 episode and 5 years later I still regularly think about it. As somebody who has also struggled with mental health issues my whole life paul's stories are very inspirational but also there's a ton of information on ghost hunting here that I didn't think i'd ever learn. not only that but all three of you play off of eachother very well! 1.0 had moments where even rewatching I would burst out laughing, where as 2.0 is very informative with tons of fun guests
As someone dealing with some personal demons currently, it is really nice to hear someone whom I respect and enjoy the content they put out speak so openly about their own personal experiences with such things and also to see how well they are doing now. It really shows that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm enjoying this format more than I expected to and I already thought I would enjoy it a lot. Thanks for this guys!!
I know you don’t know me and I’m just a name on a screen but I just wanted to say I’ve been there and it sucks but it does get better. Hang in there and find anything that gives you joy a d hold onto it.
@@jennyplunkett6318 Thank you for the positive vibes, it sure does suck but luckily I'm surrounded by good people and there are various other good people whom I don't know, such as yourself, that always offer encouragement. Again, thank you. It may not seem like much to some people but little things like comments such as yours reach further than it may seem.
You know, Paul's humor never landed with me on Barshens or Digitiser, but hearing him speak more candidly and in a less performative way here, I really, really like him. I'd love to see more of him as a guest here.
I loved getting to hear Paul’s story about what he’s overcome. I love and respect him even more now. I’m also digging the new format. I like that the videos are longer, more barshens is always better!
This is really good! There's nothing like Barshens on UA-cam in my opinion. Barshens videos feel quite refreshing, whatever the format, I think because you get the vibe that Stuart, Barry and co genuinely enjoy hanging out.
Just like with Stuart's game talks, the long format works real well for Our Dr. Ashen and His Wacky Compatriots. Here's to years of forty-five minute content.
I have to admit, the first episode bored me to tears. It took me 3 tries to even finish it in one sitting. This one however was a great one. It was really pleasant to have a real, honest and serious talk. And Paul's story was amazing!
thank you for fixing the sound! its still somewhat compressed, but not in a headsplitting manner anymore. I only made it through about 20 minutes of the last one before the sound quality got the best of me
@@Barshens I read that in Stuart's voice. But it could have been either of them....this should be a game within the comments of the show, where the fans try to figure out which Barshens member is commenting. I call it "Which Barshens Member is Commenting‽" Title pending.
Really need to give props to Gannon's story telling. He has a way of keeping your interest throughout and hitting hard with the end. That story with the ghost hunting and the lady who's husband had cancer was told so well.
Paul's views on ghost hunting as a business and as a social phenomenon are interesting actually you guys should do a part 2 to this if he and you have more to say
As you were discussing pizza, my wife and I were eating pizza - even some of the precise things you mentioned. It seems the supernatural theme of the show started earlier than you know!!
I love watching Most Haunted (mostly to laugh at the ridiculous reactions of Yvette and the others) so I found this episode fascinating. I was kind of disappointed that it ended so soon, I could listen to Paul's ghost/supernatural tales for hours, so I will have to listen to the spooktator podcast he's a part of.
True story. When most haunted did the 30 east drive Mr Datcat helpfully pointed out the rope tied around that chaps waist. We are now both blocked on Karl Beeties Twitter.
'Most Haunted'. Why was it, that everywhere they went, no matter what the history of the place, Derek Acorah would encounter the ghost of 'a little lad'? A friend of mine pointed this out to me.👻
Paul's temp experience reminds me very much of my university experience. Jesus. I dropped out, moved back in with my parents and got a dog. Rest in peace Gunner!
I went to the Hellfire Caves when I was a bit younger, plan to go back some time and learn more about it. Used to go to caves a lot over the country. Paul’s story of him and this old guy freaking each other out with the sound monitors is one of the funniest things I’ve heard. Haha you should do a subscriber ghost hunt ;) (Also: For some reason the pod episodes never showed on UA-cam for me, so the playlist is the only way I can watch them)
That was genuinely interesting, not implying that previous episodes aren't, but still it was really nice set of facts and discussion about inherently, sort of, secretive "professions"... you know what I mean
Honestly I prefer the new format, love listening to Stuart and Barry's ramblings in the background with the same great idiotic tone as before! Plus who wouldn't want Stuart in their ears for over 40 minutes.
@@Barshens I hope one day you all have the freedom to make whatever suits your fancy. I thoroughly enjoy anything that comes from this channel. I think the channel has a nice familiar feel to it that sits just right with me.
I really hope if you take Paul's advice re: the Sharticles theme, you specifically use THAT sound he used to demonstrate because its better than any stock sound could ever be. x)
I remember that one psychic lady on TV who tried to read information of the dead in front of the family of the deceased. When she made a wrong guess, the family corrected her, and she just casually replied, "I don't care!"
I heard an interesting thing about Native Americans being spirit guides in places other than America; and that was from the 1600s Native Americans traveled by boats to other countries and if they settled they brought their beliefs and culture with them.
This might not be a popular opinion, but I think I will enjoy the new format more. What I enjoy most about Barry and Stewart is just listening to them talk and bullshit about random ass things. So this podcast format is perfect for me.
As an incredibly uninteresting fact; the guy that appeared in Series One of Most Haunted, Jason Karl, (who is still acting) went on to make a company that creates horror mazes and events. Really good ones. Back when I did video production, I filmed the trailers and first night run-throughs of Screamland in Margate, Kent with a company called Made Better Media. You can still find them on the MBM UA-cam page and Facebook. He's a great guy. Doesn't act like a CEO and twenty years actor.
Interesting discussion about ghost shows....my ex wife loved those most haunted shows and refused to believe Derek was a charlatan or that mediums are frauds and ghosts don't exist. I love when these liars are caught.
I work in a nursing home, and last night the call bell went in one of the public bathrooms, those who walk around are all in bed. Went to turn it off, and then ten minutes later a resident died.

It makes all his past jokes funny because his self deprecating humour is based on real metal trauma. 😮..... 😂😂👏🏼
Really great episode. I love the mix between humor and serious. Keep it up!
Paul's voice sounds sexier now, with this format, or is that just me...
His voice sounds oddly Eliless
I miss the beard.
mics for podcasting/radio do often give a richer sound than lapel mics. i do notice the difference here.
The higher-quality mics (as opposed to the lapel mics) capture the bass in his voice much better.
Well not to be crass but... Now we know what's in your "wank bank" - I'm sorry, I had to embody Mr Silverman.

Love the stuff all you guys do, really enjoyed the semi serious tone of this one for a change
It's a route that the guests will take us, some serious, some fun. We like it too.
Gannon's real talk in the middle of this really resonated with me. I wasn't expecting that in a show that is usually so silly.
This is bloody brill, missed the podcasts for so long and now this excellence, they're even better now as its the centre of concentration

The first episode we literally pressed record and didn’t think about the structure fully, we’ll be getting better at this for sure as the blocks go by
It's very noticeable, this is 10x better than episode 1 and a fantastic listen/watch!
Miss the old format but this new one is great too! Loving it!

This episode was pretty interesting but I do miss the old format. Loved Barshens in the past, this is just something I will need to get use to.
Wow. A huge step up from episode one of the new format. Having a guest on gives structure and support. Like a tripod. Keep it up!
That it does! We are hoping to get a guest nearly every time hence the need for a researcher that we are advertising for
I may be psychic - I just got this impression that we might hear from Guru Larry in the next few episodes.
