I saw Knife Detector do a review on an older one and I liked it. I may have to add this one to the collection. I like that they include a sheath with it. Nice review!
I think the Old Timers are a good knife for the money. Looks like a nice useful knife. I have a 69OT, which has a gut hook in addition to the saw and clip point.
For sure a good piece to have around the house!!!!! And that saw blade is really good I can use that around here for a couple branches I’m thinking about!!!!! Great piece how you gonna beat that!!!!!!
Here i was wondering why i didn't get notifications on your video's, then i noticed i still didn't subscribe! So after a few facepalm's i've subscribed. Like the Buzzsaw Trapper btw.😁
Nope, not a regular or smaller Trapper fan. Do like this though. Just happened to read a fair few bad reviews when I was looking to buy this particular knife. To Heinnies credit they put up the patently insane reviews along with anything else as long as there's no swearing ect. It can occasionally send you in the wrong direction though. Old Timers are something that are fairly easy to get here too. Probably a future purchase.
Recently I scored a 97 OT and a 96 OT on Amazon. The 97 came with Pouch ($25) the 96 did not ($15) The Pouch is obviously not made for either being a bit too large (same Pouch that comes with the LB7). You claimed yours fit and didn't rattle. Mine does! The 2 knives are exactly the same size, have the exact same tools. Other than One has a Bone saw and slightly longer blade, There is very little difference. Also recently, I scored 2 LB5Bs that came with pouches that were far too large! The Trappers fit perfectly in the black leather pouches that the LB5Bs came in! So now they both have lovely black leather pouches that appear to be made for them! I'm awaiting an eBay delivery for a pair of smaller Schrade pouches that should be the same size as Normal LB5 pouches! We'll see! I have never seen any pouches for sale on any Schrade website that wasn't the typical huge lb7 pouch. I never got into trapper knives until I started watching your channel! LOL! It's all your fault! LMAO!
Regular trappers are kinda boring, but I do have one in my mother of pearl Case collection. But this one is worthwhile with all the good additions. Saw is a big deal for me. I rarely use it but always want it.
One thing Old Timer got right, is the leather cases actually fit the knife it came with. I bought a Case Hammerhead and the case it came with is too big. And the Hammerhead is a $75 knife! The 25OT large folding hunter fits the Case leather belt case. 🤦♂️
I'm guessing you never walked through a field full of cactus while bunny busting and ended up with a big toe full of cactus spikes... Or ever had a dog get a life lesson from a porkypine... The tweezers are usefull! Good old Battenfield. The last remaining "Schrade" company still in existence! When they too finally go belly up, it will be the end of an era...
The saw blade is great but why not put the lock on the blade??? Doesn't it make way more sense? If you're using the saw your putting downward pressure on the saw anyways. No need for a lock. Use the lock for the blade!
I love these new, inexpensive Old Timers. I think I'm going to pick one of these up. Thanks for the video.
Glad you like them, Pete. This is a fun one.
The Schrade Old Timers series are just great value. A good companion saw for a whittling knife 🔪 😉
That's right. Thanks EagleEyes.
Same here. Nice to have a useful secondary blade instead of blade you can use for spreading peanut butter (Spay)
Good call! Though, I do like a good sam'mich.
Thanks TK, a great review of a knife I have not seen before, a very useful knife and a lovely leather sheath.
Take care
Sam
Glad I could provide something new. Thanks Sam.

I was willing to buy it even before I knew it came with the sheath. When I notcied that it did, it was a no-brainer.
Looks like a Keeper !
A Trapper Keeper. You ever have one of those binders as a kid?

Hi North Star. Old Timers are good value. I like the job their doing. Not sure I've seen the 69OT yet.
@@ThriftyKaniffy I took a look at one a while back. I don’t see them much. ua-cam.com/video/vyQTx2rxEjE/v-deo.html
Just saw your excellent video on 97OT. Thanks for the watch.
I have a few ‘Old Timer’ knives but this one is new to me. It looks like I need to start buying direct from the USA. Great show and tell brother 👍.
Right on. Thanks Toad.
definitely a good tool with the locking saw blade.
I can think of lots of uses for yardwork and such with the saw blade.
A saw comes in more handy than a coping blade for me. That's a nice one.
The extra tools are nice. Knife Detector did a video comparing the older Schrade vs the new ones.
I checked it out, he did a great job on the video. Enjoyed that very much.
Nice all and all in an interesting way.
I think so Rick. Thanks for watching..
Yeah TK, the Schrade "Old Timer" people have really upped their game here as of late! I like the new D2 stockman they have out now too!
May need to grab that one. A Heritage Bruin should be here next week.
@@ThriftyKaniffy Snag it!

Yes sir. Just as I was thinking, used as a yardwork tool. I've got a certain type of tree that is always needing some TLC.

Thanks for subbing!
That’s pretty cool.

Do hope I shed some light on it.
I have this one, I got it for the same reasons you did, I’m not a huge fan of regular trappers either :)
Thanks for the watch. Just saw your excellent video on the 97OT, enjoyed it very much.

Kandra, yea some of the sheaths are way too loose for my liking. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I have the Bearhead Trapper, but I do plan on getting the BuzzSaw Trapper
Pretty cool knife.
Offers something a bit different than most Old timers.
Great knife
Glad you like it, Jerry. It's a cool piece.
Regular trappers are kinda boring, but I do have one in my mother of pearl Case collection. But this one is worthwhile with all the good additions. Saw is a big deal for me. I rarely use it but always want it.
I think there's a lot of people bored with the trapper. Seems like they are everywhere available with scales I'd want in any other form.
I have 2 of them ….USA older ones . Great steel n knife
The USA made Old Timers are great. Thanks for taking a look, David.
Variation on Swiss A.
Yea, that's right. Not your everyday trapper.
I found mine one day fishing on a creek bank. 2 years ago. It was dirty and full of mud.
That's cool. Cleaned up and brought back to life. 👍Thanks Banjo.
A bit of mineral oil inside the knife pouch and it'll be brand new expensive feel to it, otherwise a nice combo👍
Thanks for the tip.
I had two of them, but found the proud backspring pin to be annoying.
Thanks for the feedback Jimmy.

This one fits really well, I was impressed.
the sheath is NOT genuine leather, it is top grain leather. genuine leather is a marketing name for pleather
Genuine leather is real leather from the inner layers. Pleather is synthetic.

They're going strong as subsidiary of American Outdoor Brands.

Use the lock for the blade!
You make a good point Travis. Thanks for the comment.
The sawblade might be useful for scaling fish, but it's useless as a saw.
Yea not my favorite cutter. Thanks.
