I hope you enjoyed this second part of our homestar series! What is your favorite music memory? Also I couldn't have done it without my friend Lanooski so go check him out : ua-cam.com/channels/xfVbuWXJAPQ26tL6_BeLng.html
I am 45 years old and I still quote Homestar Runner. I did it last week. "One time, I hooked up my Nintendo to my lawnmower. I got the high score every time."
Homestar runner is such a reminder that at one point the internet content that did not try to divide, cancel or shove opinions down your throat. The internet at some point was a fun and creative place where the goal was not to make a living.
The Brothers Chaps are pretty incomparable in their “do literally anything, and it’s awesome” abilities. Couple years back, they did a huge mix of “for kids” shorts called Two More Eggs on DisneyXD, a pretty mainstream platform... and it’s arguably *more* weird and subversive than their independent work. Their vision and artistic process is just that strong.
I was today years old when I found out that Geddy Lee was a Homestar Runner fan, and now I'm really sad that Rush and The Brothers Chaps never collaborated :(
I went and saw They Might Be Giants something like 10 years ago in Birmingham, AL( I have seen They Might Be Giants about 12 times so remember which year it was is a bit tough). Halfway through the set Strong Bad and Homestar Runner came out and did a comedy bit. I was a long-time fan of They Might Be Giants ( from the mid-80s) and had been a strong bad fan for many years so this surprise collaboration blew my mind.
Great video! One thing that was very briefly mentioned, but is a much bigger part of the music than this video indicates, is their ability to make perfect lo-fi jingles. From the "Flagrant Error" and "Edgarware" jingles to the gameshow jingles in stuff like Geddup Noise, they all perfectly hit the vibe they were made for. I'm also a fan of the homemade sfx in the animated adobe program in Fish Eye Lens, after Homestar chimes in.
100% true. as something of a lo-fi enthusiast myself i'm also impressed by how much those little bits of music are often as hard to get out of my head as their full-blown hits.
Man what's with all the past tense? Homestar's like a camping trip, man. The tents are present. You even have the option of flash or no-flash versions of the website..
@@CultureClashh btw good video (i dont think i watched it when I gave this comment, but youtube showed it to me again and I watched like i'd never seen it before). Homestar is absolutely the Simpsons of the internet, and I think that comparison works as well with music as anything Just instead of becoming terrible after a decade and change, they took a break!
For me what was so fun about the homestarruner site was all the little Easter eggs be it a little Easter egg in a sbmail or a secret page I could spend hours hunting for new stuff on those sites cause of flash. Unfortunately some of that interactivity was lost when they moved to UA-cam.nevertheless the brothers chap really encouraged people to be invested in there website. I’m happy that people still appreciate how much of a gem of the internet homestarrunner is
You’ll be happy to know that a flash substitute is in the works that allows viewers to interact with the content as they did back then. There’s still a few bugs they’re working out but if you head over you can scope out what they’ve got so far! :)
I've been on a Homestar Runner kick today and discovered this and your previous video. Any chance you'll do another video, covering the insane amount of little mini-games on their site, as well as the bigger ones like Peasant's Quest and the Telltale Games episodic series?
@@CultureClashh ok finished the video and I gotta say, this is a helluva comeback. Loved the style of this video, feels different from your past stuff, I really dig it. I can feel the passion in this video. Love to see you getting better and better and I can’t wait until you get huge!
Ok this is my second comment but apparently TMBG only ended up collaborating with homestar runner because a TMBG fan took a picture of John Flansburgh in a Homsar shirt and posted it on a homestar runner forum…John Linnell and his son were actually really big Homestar fans at the time so after he found out that the brothers chaps were TMBG fans he ended up sending them an email basically saying “if there’s anything you wanna work on together feel free to hit us up!!!!!!” And the rest is history :D
I’m back logged on content right now because of my health problems (I have full body neuropathy) so I have one more video before that one will be done. I had to find an editor etc as working on a computer has become increasingly difficult

until I was 16 I genuinely thought They Might Be Giants were a made up band like Limozeen and Sloshy.
maybe they were all alooooong!
I'm of the generation who thought they were made up for Tiny Toon Adventures. ;-)
The name is pretty “homestarry”. The Giants Might/Could
They might be.

I love that series too! It's like a whole show dedicated to their weirder side (which itself is impressive since H*R is already pretty weird).
I was today years old when I found out that Geddy Lee was a Homestar Runner fan, and now I'm really sad that Rush and The Brothers Chaps never collaborated :(
Limozeen's song was not called "Heart of a Lion". It was called "Because, It's Midnite"
🌟. EEEEEFFFFFFF

That’s epic!
Yeah that’s so friggin cool I’d have lost my mind!! XD
This is THE authoritative video on the music of Homestar Runner. Nice work guys!
I actually ran into someone during a trip to Phili who had a sloshy shirt, I did the "HEY HEY SLOSHY!" and was met with "SLOSHY!"
THATS DOPE
As a part time musician, I've always wished someone would talk about the music! Thank you!
my boy Lanooski rocks

This is perfect. Just perfect. I couldn't be happier with my newest invention. I call it: "The Super Question Machine"!
I gotta try and sneak out of here without Homestar noticing me.

Did trogdor START with Homestar Runner? I always thought Trogdor was a myth legend thing cuz I've heard the name lots of times
That’s amazing to hear that he’s become some sort of mythological figure! Lol but yes it started there.
@@Lanooski can confirm. He first appeared in home star's strongbad emails

Wait till we do the games;)
great video, shockingly underviewed!
