Dokken became an instant favorite in 84' & George was 1 of the biggest influences in my early guitar years only behind Randy Rhoads the reason I switched from drums to guitar. George's playing being criticized in some later Dokken shows and/or reunion gigs was unfair as George both wanted away from the Dokken stuff when he was on his own & he always said he likes to change up some licks and sometimes it's magic but everyone always rates players by sounding like the studio recording. Jimmy Page never played solos the same as most recordings of his solos were improvised on the spot, fact. George wasn't improvised in the studio, but he often doesn't try to identically play his solos and I saw him do a Kiss Of Death live version that blew away any live guitar performance I've seen & I've seen Yngwie, EVH, Vivian, DeMartini, Vito, Michael Schenker & so many more. He changed up a bit back then & it was awesome, but not as much another time years later, but that doesn't detract from his guitar legend status because he plays & tries what he wants! It means he's great enough to get away with it more times than not. Yet some say Reb Beach plays George better than George like they know anything. Copying someone's creation isn't equal to creating it in the first place. Rob's a great player, but never created 1 song riff or solo that touches many of George's. But the real measurement of greatness is how over the test of time just how instantly by a few notes people know who's playing what riff, solo of what song! Iconic riffs like Crazy Train or Whole Lot Of Love. George is an all time great!

Seems you all forgot how back/spinal surgery has practically killed Don's singing. Basically trying to heal since 2019. He also lost use of his hands for awhile. They are still not fully back. He just started moving around more, rehabilitation exercises etc. A lot of crap happened to Don that is uncontrollable, out of his hands. But he's trying, and his spirit is strong.
I wish him the best. And I hear they are pretty close to making one last album together. But.... I hope Jeff Pilson fills in more live. He's always had a GREAT voice. Don was great once, and still is in his own right of course. But age, surgeries, has really taken a toll on him.

Heartbreaking to see Don Dokken reduced to this, he was one of the best and it’s a shame that his health issues over the years has ruined what was once one of the greatest soulful voices in hard rock. Also remember, before you make nasty comments, that he is also in his mid sixties now. It’s different for guitarists, as long as they can stave off arthritis as they get older, they can go on forever. Don is sounding a little better though, but he will never again be the Don Dokken we all knew and remember, but I’m not gonna deny the guy a living, if he still wants to go out and play, let him do so without idiots, being abusive.

Yes, Dokken was my favorite band in the 80s. Due to Georges riffs and Don’s vocals. George is still kicking ass but Don just doesn’t have it anymore.

great that they are getting along life's to short to bicker all the time btw Lynch playing a les paul I fkn love it,it seems like a lot of the 80's guitar players are playing more Gibson's les Paul's instead of the flashy Jackson's v and explorers type guitars so Slash was onto something I just got a Gibson standard a love it.

@@garettoverstreet It's got sort of a twangy tone. Of course he naturally shreds on it. But the notes aren't quite as defined. Plus there a giant p/u in the middle which prevents digging in

George has taken care of himself over the years, even though in an interview Don said Mick and Jeff were doing some mind altering things after the shows in the 1980s.
