  • TRUMP COMEBACK: Gloomy Forecast- John Bolton Warns of NATO Collapse | WELT Interview
Ambassador Bolton, who spent significant time with President Trump, shared insights into Trump's views on NATO. Bolton believes Trump does not understand NATO's collective defense concept and views alliances as transactional. Trump criticizes European defense spending and has threatened to withdraw the U.S. from NATO, citing unfair trade arrangements and Europe's reliance on Russian energy. Bolton notes Trump's lack of a consistent policy approach. If re-elected, Trump might not support Ukraine's NATO membership. Bolton highlights the historical mistake of not admitting Ukraine and Georgia into NATO in 2008, suggesting it could have prevented subsequent Russian aggressions. The NATO summit's focus remains on reinforcing member security, emphasizing NATO's role in U.S. safety, and addressing challenges posed by Russia.

No he just has his bee in a bonnet over defence spending. Withdrawing from the alliance would be the most stupid decision for any US President to do. And no, he doesn't understand how the alliance works. He thinks that the US is defending the Europeans, but the reality is that if the US were to withdraw then, it could cause instability in the North Atlantic Sea, and not only that, but it would actually make America far more vulnerable to major incidents that were similar to 9/11, and terrorist attacks by Americas adversaries could even happen on a more regular basis in the country. Anyways, how the alliance works is if one country is attacked, then that's considered an attack on all NATO member states, and their troops get deployed to the country that was attacked. Yes Europeans should meet their defence spending targets, but it is an alliance, that prevents instability in the west, and protects the west from their adversaries. Its not a club, that is being led by America.

Who takes the war monger Bolton seriously?
Any conflict that potentially could lead to a nuclear confrontation is not worth it.

@@TheWcr84 Yeah we saw how Bolton's (and others like him) led to the invasion of Iraq which was based on LIES and guess what? Iraq is now a client state of Iran. All thanks to your "expert" Mr Bolton.
      Anyways, Iraq is not Russia.
Any war against Russia should only be waged from the economic and diplomatic perspective. And if Russia somehow survives it, then NATO should accept that it lost and give humanity a reason to survive. Because provoking a nuclear war will mutually destroy both NATO and Russia. It is as simple as that!

That is a very good question. And probable answers might not be so much about taking him “seriously” vs “defaulting” to a selection due to … (a lot of secondary and peripheral factors). You can say a lot of things about Trump, but his “genius” is that he knows how to push people’s buttons along the whole political spectrum.

4:18 -Has he (John Bolton) forgotten about the Russia-Georgia war? I believe Bush was at the Chinese Olympic games (observing the US women's volleyball team) when that war started back in 08-If I recollect.

Trys to run the country too much like a "business," as opposed to being diplomatic, taking "political" considerations on major decisions into account it sounds like. Don't see the need to bring Ukraine into NATO, otherwise tend to agree with points presented here.
