Different scary from Damrau, and maybe more crazy. Got all the notes, got all the drama. Staging and costumes abysmal, but you can't blame Miklosa for that. She delivered excellently! (Shoving the dagger into the daughter's hand and then running away was kinda clever and effective, but hardly what Mozart had in mind.)
Her placing the knife on her hand with a naughty maniac smile and running away killed me 🤣🤣🤣

So glad this has better quality, this is my favorite performance of this piece. Every other Queen of the Night just starts randomly screaming for no reason, but not Erika's, her Queen is doing a maniatical laughter, it's brilliant.
Ms. Miklosa does real acting, unlike the other divas who just stand there and sing. Her facial expressions are great.
Yes. probably if you have to move more seriously in costume, it is impossible to sing out the high C. Erika didn't really succeed either, there are better arias. but it's not her fault. this is the maximum that is humanly possible.

Great that they envisioned the Queen in an original way. So many are falling back on a Disney stereotype.
I bought a book where the Queen looks almost exactly like Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. She’s dressed like that on every page she’s on and it really takes away all of the shock from the big reveal that the Queen is actually the villain and not Sarastro.
What an incredible voice! Didn’t hit every note but this song is near impossible even for the best sopranos.
The setting is bizarre and the queen is the most disturbing one I’ve ever seen. It almost makes this seem like this is a dream sequence.
This is scary stuff enough without the extra scary facial expressions.
Remember she represents the empress of Austria-Hungary cursing her own people. A curse that lasted for at least the next 170 years, and may never end.

I love her voice but why is the music going so fast? She can barely keep up
Fastest tempo I've ever heard. Love it! So thrilling. I think she pulls it off brilliantly. The staccato section blurs somewhat, but I don't care. Her voice and her percussive attacks outside of that are, musically, beyond powerful. She's phenomenal. Instant fan.
She's terrifying and glorious, she must be a direct descendant of Vlad Tepes himself

Counting movies and live performances, I've probably seen "Flute" a dozen times. IMO this is the WORST STAGING EVER. (On the plus side, the acting is appropriately maniacal while delivering a brilliant vocal performance. I've never heard of Miklosa before, but I'll try to remember her name.)
To be fair, Erika Miklosa isn't responsible for the staging, that's on the director and producer. Considering that this is one of the most vocally demanding opera roles in existence, I think she did a very good job.

The staging, costumes and the actor swinging on arad make no sense. I feel like they made the majic flute a c-grade space soap opera.
Reminds me of The Simpsons when Marge was part of the Streetcar musical, hanging and swinging about on cables to represent her descent into madness.
On an unrelated note: a space opera styled staging of Magic Flute would actually be pretty amazing

Se de cual cantante te refieres, me parece mucho sadismo que los encargados de escena pidan a los cantantes hacer estos retos de actuación nada más para dar más dramatismo a la historia, sobretodo con arias tan difíciles y tener que maniobrar una silla de ruedas, también he visto subir y bajar escaleras altísimas o arriba de estructuras altas que se mueven como elefantes, tronos… todo esto sin parar de cantar.

It was… just okay. The staccato notes wasn’t perfect placed & in peach. I know, I don’t wanna lay, it’s really, really, really difficult to get all of them… they are staccato, there is no time to tune, you have to focus on the note ahead of you, not on the one you are singing.
honestly i think her subito dynamics were amazing, like the collaboration with the orchestra in that regard was super well coordinated.

This is a good example of how novelty for novelty's sake completely upstaged a brilliant vocal performance. Sorry, but her Majesty lacks majesty. A queen should not act like a pickpocket.
