Something you didn't really touch on is that starting in the 80s tougher white guys started veering away from neighborhood gangs and more into hardcore punk, metal or skinhead subcultures. Those scenes can offer the sense of brotherhood and machismo that gangs do, but they're rarely centered on turf and shit like that which causes a lot of the conflicts on the streets with the black and latino gangs.
Duh 🙄... That's 3 different movements working in unison, simultaneously! WHO WOULDN'T BE A COLLECTIVE FORCE WITH 2 OTHER CULTURES backing them? Pointless statement
In Chicago white gangbangers are almost non-existent. It's white flight, especially on the Northside where most white gangs were from. There were less white kids living in Chicago in the mid 80's. Many white families moved to suburbs, then by the mid 90's gentrification started in Chicago. There were less kids in certain Northside neighborhoods that use to be bad areas pre-80's (Lincoln Park, Logan Square, Wicker Park, Humboldt Park all gentrified now) than in the Southside (more families). Many white families were middle class, blue collar city worker/trade career working parents. Eventually white kids in the city focused more on school and eventually getting decent jobs as young adults. Like you said the culture changed. In 2010's we are starting to see less gangbangers in the Mexican communities. Especially with second or 3rd generation American born Mexican Americans who many more likely grew up in the city or around gangs at one point back in the 70's - early 90's. We do not let our kids fall into gangs. We are established, white collar, and found opportunities were our kids can grow up with many positive constructive options to get a head start on life. We expose our kids to different things areas cultures. I grew up in Little Village in the 70's and 80's. I never liked the gang life, it wasn't for me but I knew many that did. Mostly because their friends were into gangs. Many of them came from hard working families. Sometimes it's more the peer pressure, peer influence, or the parents that don't keep up with what their kids are doing, hanging out with, and how they dress. Thankfully I live a good life, blessed with a great professional career, my parents sacrificed so much to provide a good education for me. They exposed me to things outside of Little Village and Chicago. Now I live a quiet live in LaGrange IL. I'm guiding my children to take what I learned & provide for them to the next level and keep going. Education, guidance, support, encouragement, exposure to different socio-economic communities and different cultures for my children is priority one in my household. That's how white people got out of gangs back then. There is still Mexican gangs in Little Village, Back of the Yards, Cicero, Brighton Park, and maybe a few small areas on the Northside. In the Mexican community the kids that fall into gangs are usually parents that immigrated recently. There's a negative stigma with being a gangbanger now even among kids (especially kids who parents or grand parents were born here or came to this country in the 60's). A good example of this is (along with gentrification efforts) in the Pilsen area. This was once the most dangerous area for a Mexican boy/young man to live in. It use to be what Back of the Yards is now. Too many gangs in a small area all at war. Today developers and Mexican Americans who moved back to Pilsen or who parents already owned property in Pilsen remain. They figured out how to get rid of the gangs, raise rent, rent out to Mexicans who can afford it, or get involved by voicing their concerns to politicians on how to deal with gangs. It became the cultural center for Chicago's Mexican American community. Which is a rare type of neighborhood you will not see outside Mexico City. It's progressive, politically involved, artsy, with coffee shops, book stores, Hipster bars, great restaurants, art galleries, cultural events, and even the second (maybe the first) Mexican American history museum in the US. Yes there's still a few gangs left in Pilsen but they keep very quiet and deal with their issues on the western outskirts of Pilsen. It's ironic how Little Village, or Cicero that was once safe quiet working class family neighborhoods became much worse and dangerous more than Pilsen ever was. Don't be ghetto, don't aspire to be ghetto, don't look ghetto, don't act ghetto, don't dress ghetto, don't associate with ghetto people.....

I grew up in Uptown in the 80s and there were many white gangs. Uptown was a slum, gutter, junkyard gangland with Black, Hispanics, White and even Asian gangs. Uptown began to get remodeled and people began to move out. Whites moved to the suburbs, Blacks moved south and west, many Hispanics moved to Belmont Cragin which used to be White Polish, now it's all Hispanic. Some moved to Back of the Yards
The powers that be also gave them other opinions like the police and fire department city works and politics, when Larry tried to move his mob in that direction they got taken down
I’m back home for awhile after 30 plus years away. It’s totally different on most of the north side. "for us in the 80s it was never racially motivated really because LKs at that time were about 70% Hispanic and 30% every other race in the city, black kings, white kings, middle Eastern, Filipino just to name a few, so it made us the largest most diverse and powerful gang in the city especially on my block L-awrence and K-edzie. It was just about colors and territory. I grew up near Christiana & Wellington as a kid big-time Royal Hood "I believe most of the REAL OG white boy gangbangers ended up dead or in prison actually. White people are the minority all over the city now that’s the only difference.
I somewhat agree with that in the 90's. But you had a lot of fake gangster stuff because of the musuc movies etc. I'm here in Indiana north outside Chicago by gary indiana and you had some white bangers who were city connected. Hell you showed one of them in your video. But it's dead now for the most part

A lot of it has to do with white flight go into the suburbs or I grew up on the northwest side in Edison Park you can drive 20 minutes in any area and not see a colored person. There was no need for gangs. We had crews but that was just for partying. Most white people don't live in gang neighborhoods. That's why you only see the occasional white kid in a gangs nowadays. At least for Chicago. When you think of gangs now a days it's colored people you don't think about white people and it's a mix of the media another things

Black and blue knows no pity.... Albany Park
I saw Doki-Doki in one of those pics!!
The powers that be also gave them other opinions like the police and fire department city works and politics, when Larry tried to move his mob in that direction they got taken down
Because the powers were white. Now the powers are all black....guess who gets those jobs now?
What gang was CM Punk in?
He was in the hardcore scene. Probably wasn't involved in these sorts of gangs.
Cm punk was pope 😊
The outfit still exists….. They just have closed books cause they know youngins can’t stay off the internet and yap 🐀.
It was because of White Flight.
Definitely makes sense
Don't forget paulina and barry community
All my cousins Insane Popes From 51st Kilpatrick tweety snoopy tank 🖤🤍
I once kicked insane Pope Alpo’s ass on the corner of Foster and Western circa 1987 👑🫡 Lol
A very sad day!!!
And the White Mobs eventually became Latino like the Saints SDz & Royals
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
It's a sad thing for gangbanging to be a black or latino thing SMH 😔
The devil is a liar ✅
Prayers out for those trying to recover from the passing of their loved ones 🕊️
Prayers out for those incarcerated and those on that path 🕊️
Tbh all that shit is sad not cool no matter that race doing it 😂
Yeah white gang back then had great style sadly is gone but I don’t condone it
Very good
Nice work.
Poloks and Russians being called white😂😂😂
Italians being called YT is even funnier! 🇲🇽 illegals ✅YT on 🇺🇸 census!
My tattoo is in this video
Maybe one or two of each white set were down, the rest were nerds.
It stopped being hip in the 90s to represent the w r4ce. It was cooler to accept bl4cc or l4tino culture.
Only self hating sorry asses don’t accept their W r4ce, nothing to be ashamed of
This comment right here. I saw the end of it first hand
The jousters Gaylord popes Simon city etc etc

Bro you way off. Imo.
A whole lot of white SDs and 26.
Sd'z were originally and started off as a white gang .
48th & Union SDz used to be a majority white deck back in the day
Yes indeed... the 22 boys also.
35th & Wood full of white trash ass SDs😂
35th Wood, 51st Wood, and 48th Union still got a lot of white Dz.
A lot of them were getting smoked so the majority stopped banging and left the city. Facts
If only the blacks would take this hint for themselves, they still getting smoked 😂
Bringing heat = loosing $
Boggs was a G
Good brother. Knew him for a long time when I was a player from C-town, and he was pope. I turned king in 97 he came with me from T30. Good brother though. Put in that work.
