    Cool, i've never guessed that this video would be viewed 160K times! Mostly viewers in USA and Canada and some eastern eurpopean countries. The dozer is currently sitting inside the barn waiting for spring. Although it is just a hobby machine and it mostly used for around the farm jobs i cant wait for spring to start some work with logging roads. If anybodo knows a good D9G dozer for sale and a cheap trtanport to Norway let me know, a D9 is on the top of my wishlist but there is noone to be found around here. I will upload a new video as soon as the dozer is out of the barn!

      I say go all in for the D10 or D11.. I remember the first time I sat in the seat of a D11. It was like sitting on the front porch of a Southern mansion! If I had a hobby farm or ranch I'd definately get me a D10 at least.

    The engine is quite lazy because of the exhaust manifold gasket failure. Manifold boost is down The fuel injection pump is equipped with AFRC which is cutting back fuel delivery because manifold boost is down. I operated D7F's in 1970, the first year of production. Good machines !!

    Other than the exhaust leak, which makes it sound like it's miss-firing, rebuilt grousers would sure help, although there are times when fresh grousers just seem to give a place for more mud to gather. I am told the D7F has the same engine as the D6D only tuned up a bit. Must be more to it than that. I love the sound of the old four bangar 7's.

    It amazes me seeing that thing struggle to make it up that hill and then push that huge pile just a few min later. It must be that with the blade loaded up it pushes down to get more traction. I think that you can weld new plates to the tracks to make them deeper. I think they call them gousers or something. . I have run some equipment including a D8 I think it was I only had about 5 hours seat time in it and was the fist dozer I ever ran. I have always been fascinated by machinery

      A D7H was the first dozer I truly fell in love with. 😂 yeah it was a bit newer than the one in the video but I’ve run bigger and I’ve run smaller. I think the best all purpose dozer is a D6 but there was something amazing about that old D7H I used to run. Open cab machine. I’d run that open cab 7 and leave the new 8R we had sitting. 😂 the 8R only had about 200 hours on it at the time. Was a great machine but we were slotting up spoils on a tunneling job and that 7 fit the tunnel better than the 8 did. But I still would have picked the 7 at the time. Beefy and maneuverable and could push nearly as much as the 8 could.

    Put the new manifold on it and run it. Doesn't act like it needs a new blower. Just a straight pipe and let it eat. Have run the 7-E's and F's. Good tractors. The E-s were stronger unless someone "worked" on the F's. They's do the job.

    • @eddgong
      @eddgong 5 років тому +1

      just skipped to your comment it has been almost 40 years for any seat time for me , but even with the manifold leak this machine sounds different engine wise than the old 7's I used to run ,
      I know Cat switched out the old 4 lungersto 6 bangers but i. not sure what models did the change occur . This machine doesnt have that big throated tone where you could almost count the rpms i at idle I did like the way older D7's sounded in a heavy push , spent many many hours on a 1947 , straight drive cable lift that would not steer left unless the blade was full or the tractor reversed , anjy long walking with it was done in reverse ,,,,good old days not really ......but learning wise yes indeed lots of things not to do with a cable lift lol

    If you have that ultra low sulfur diesel in Norway you should put some lubricating additives in your fuel it will make your injectors and pump last a lot longer those older engines don't like the newer fuels. You sure have thick muskeg (topsoil or peat) there in Norway it's the same way where I'm from in Canada.

    • @evjone
      @evjone  8 років тому +2

      That Is true, I am aware of that and we use a additive named "Alron" on all our tractors and machines to prevent fouling in diesel tanks and lubricating pumps.
      This area is covered in thick moss and about 3 - 6 ft of very rich topsoil. This area is planned to be cultivated this year to make additional farmland. More dozer videos coming up as soon as winter and snow is gone 👍

It was just standing there on the beach abandoned. Next thing on my "to buy list" is a Cat ttrack loader, quite common in our neghbour country Sweden. The Swedish army used a lot of theese durning the 80's and have now been sold to civilians. Almost brand new ones go for about 15000USD.

    I wonder why they don't make the treads on the track more aggressive so there's less slippage? Never operated one of these things. The only thing even close was my experience in the Army with tanks. Tank treads have a giant rubber pad on them to minimize damage to road surfaces, but our commanders always told us if we went to war in Europe, the first thing we'd take off was the track pads in order to maximize traction. Any thoughts?

    • @evjone
      @evjone  4 роки тому +1

      Sure, ive been a tank driver for 6 years in the Norwegian army. Bulldozer tracks are WAY more aggressive than tank tracks. On this dozer the grousers are pretty worn down, but this is a hobby/ farm machine, and not going into daily work so we dont care if its slipping a bit while pushing. Not worth the money, yet.
      When new this tracks have 4 inch grousers, now there is about 1-1/2 inch left.
      About rubber pads on tanks, yes we do the same thing, in wintertime we remove each 8 rubber pad with ice-spikes or "snow-crosses" as they are called here. We also use theese if the terrain requires it. The rubber pads are slick, and their primary purpose is to protect the metal track from wear an tear. The pads make the tank track gentle on the roads, and a lot more silent ride for the crew.
      I dont know if youve tried but a tank ride in 30-40 mph on road without rubber pads, but it makes your ears bleed ;) a little overstatement but you get the clue..

      +Michael Branham its a D7F from 74, here suffering by a broken exhaust manifold, and low to no turbo pressure. She's in much better health now!

      +Mike Lamothe yes, there is about two inches left, will welding do the trick?

    • @mikelamothesr.8998
      @mikelamothesr.8998 9 років тому +3

      If it is cost effective in your area, certainly. We have done this as well as stitching the wishbone when necessary. I have always been told weld is harder than steel. Today, time and materials often out weigh new.
