      @@GeekGamers01 I’ve found so many great gaming materials because of your videos. Whenever I get stuck for inspiration, I like to watch one of your videos. And occasionally I’ll even rewatch one to refresh my memory about something I sorta remember you pointing out. It’s almost as good as hanging out with a gaming friend over coffee or tea! Again thanks so much for the hard work you do to share your interests with those of us who love gaming too! 🙂

    Excellent recommendation! Especially love the dungeon creation games that can work as both a standalone game and supplement for Solo RPG! It reminds me of the box game - call for adventure which is also a game + story creation tool.
    Sometimes preparing many different rolling tables and looking through big RPG books feels like hard work. Making the process a game itself is very relaxing.

    Your recommendations are always awesome for the soloist. Have gone ahead and downloaded Ex Umbra/Ex Novo, can’t wait to play with them. These are the exact sort of thing I never knew I needed - perfect to help give some direction with something that I wouldn’t know where to start with 🙏🏻

    Just wanted to drop a big THANK YOU for your content and work you put in to the videos 👍 Your videos, especially this one, are really inspiring to craft adventures for myself and think outside the box! Maybe interesting for you is the hex setting "Undying Sands" from Games Omnivorous, it is system-agnostic and has nice random tables, a city, a dungeon and desert hexes to create your own desert adventure, something I haven't seen on your channel.

    Raging swan is still very active. They have a patreon as well as a website. You can find most if no all their products on DriveThruRPG. I've been subscribed to the patreon for many years and have at least 100 products from them. They put out great random tables as well as short adventures.

    If you wanted to randomize the terrain cards without knowing what they were going to be, put in a blank card that says to reshuffle when you pull it, and then draw from the bottom of the deck.

    I really need to give d100 Dungeon another chance.
    I bought into all of the material, read through everything, and then never came back to it when I realized that I didn't want to use all the modules. Not a huge deal, but I would really have to print out individual pages for the modules I would be using and create my own rules binder. And I don't think the PDF"s for the files are available.
    I have never played a full game.

    I checked out this game because of your previous reviews and I absolutely love it! I plan to get all the printed books and tools soon! Can't wait to try out the various styles of play! Thanks so much for sharing!
    Edit: I was refrancing d100 dungeon previously.
    As for the kingdom cards, I was contemplating those for my solo 5e games as an alternative to a hex crawl. I love the art!
    Edit 2: you've got me all kinds of giddy about that journey book to help create a campaign world for solo role play. I am absolutely in love with random tables so the idea of pairing this book with some extra random tables to fill in the gaps makes me so excited to know what sorts of worlds I would come up with!
    Edit 3: I was eyeballing those raging swan books on drivethrurpg just yester and was curious to know if there's overlap with the Tome of Adventure Design. Because I'm nearly 100% certain I'm gonna get it.
    Edit 4: I have never heard of How to Host a dungeon before, but it looks so awesome! I love the idea with the tracing paper. You bet I'm gonna go check that out asap!
    Edit 5: Dwarf Mine reminds me of Delve. Have you played both? Which do you prefer? I've never played either of them but I've been interested in trying out Delve. Ah now I've gotten to the Exumbra section which seems similar still. Of the three which do you recommend? I have heard of Exnovo and plan to try that out to generate cities for my solo rpg games. Do you know if it's similar enough to Exumbra to make it worth getting both to keep the learning curve down? Do you think for a solo rpg campaign they would complement each other?
    Edit 6: The Quiet Year looks interesting, I'll be eagerly awaiting your review on it!
    Thanks so much for sharing and reviewing all these fantastic resources for gaming! I feel so inspired to go game right now!

    • @GeekGamers01
      @GeekGamers01  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your comment. I haven't played Delve though know of it, so hard to comment on that. Ex Umbra is very developed and involved and feels like a complete experience in and of itself (as opposed to a "filler" or side experience) so if that's what you're going for I recommend it (or Ex Novo, depending on what you want to spend time developing).
      How To Host is quite unique in its long-term approach and sense of building a history of a place. I really enjoyed it a lot.
      IMO the Ranging Swan books differ enough from Tome to own both (though broadly speaking some of the general content covers the same ground).

      Journey works really well in conjunction with other tables and ideas mixed in! I’ve had some folks add other solo systems to it to mix a little action in with the process, and others have loved the simplicity and openness. I’m actually working on a version of the game that pulls from D&D 5e to make something a little more “active” but with the core of open ended discovery of your world at its heart. Hope you enjoy!

    Hi! I'm a huge fan of the Barsoom series of novels by edgar rice burroughs, So it was a good day when modiphius published the John carter rpg. The 2d20 System that the john carter rpg uses is not to bad, though I discovered on drivethrurpg a product called "Cut Up Solo - Barsoom" adding this with a few other solo house rules has made solo adventures on Barsoom really awesome. Anyway! keep doing what you do and burning the solo rpg flame, it's appreciated.

    Curious to know, have you came across the solo rpg called Quill? It is a solo rpg where writing letters is the objective and how well your letter is written determines whether you succeed or not, with d6 dice rolls affecting your output whether it improves or detracts the output. There are classes but they determine how well you would write the letters based on the class' ratings of penmanship, language and heart (the attributes) where better ratings mean more dice rolls.
    As for indie RPGs, ive been trying Alone Among the Stars from Takuma Okada. Its sci fi related but you explore planets, with its locations and how you come across it in the first place determined by d6s and a deck of cards (though heads up jokers arent accounted for but the designer suggested it can be whatever you want). You can play it as long as you want and at the end you can decide if you want to keep it or dispose/burn your recordings. There are several hacks of the RPG as well.

    • @GeekGamers01
      @GeekGamers01  3 роки тому +1

      I’m aware of both Quill (not for me: I write letters way too much as part of my real job) and Alone Among the Stars which I think I have already downloaded but just not gotten around to yet...

      What makes SOLO intriguing for me is that it is not an action resolution system, but a scene resolution system. So, after you make the roll, you get to turn on the creative juices and describe the scene details , the actions, and the dialogue as you wish since you'll know what the final outcome is. For those with a creative writing streak, I think that makes SOLO a powerful tool. Oh, the name is a nightmare to search for, including Zozer is almost essential to find it on DTRPG.
