Make sure the spring is made from a conductive element like iron. Not all springs are adequately conductive for this build.

i tried doing the same with a 0.2 mm nichrome wire but the length was less than 2 cm and the same EW 9V battery. the wire didnt become red hot. i tried with two duracell aa batteries and a 3.7v 320mah li-po battery too but neither of the configurations could glow as much length of wire as it did in the video. Am i missing something?
i desperately wanna make a nichrome lighter so please help me. If you can provide an email id or somethin then that ll be appreciated much :)

Shantanu Baji Maybe. nichrome wite has a coating so remove it using sandpaper and try using 12V 2Amps atleast

Get a “boost converter”, they’re like €2 on eBay, and make a small electric arc when connected (red + green side) to a 9V battery
