At first I was confused why the girls were manifesting so many powers but then in the finale they all kinda regressed. It seemed lazy at first but now I understand. Apparently, because Cordelia was suppressing her own powers (thanks to years of abuse from Fiona), her Supreme powers started manifesting in the other girls (concilium in Zoe, Vitalum Vitalis for Queenie). But when Cordelia embraced that she could be the next Supreme, the other girls lost their extra abilities.

If you are told to do, let’s say divination, you would be able to, without fail. The fact that Madison couldn’t do it whenever or when instructed, makes her fail the divination portion of the test.

It may just be a bad coincidence, but has anyone else noticed that the black veils that are worn by the witches back then and then in that one Coven episode in the present are the same black veil that was worn by the Countess during Valentino's "death" in Episode 7 of Hotel? Googled a pic for comparison: cdn1-www.afterellen.com/assets/uploads/2015/11/ahs7.9.png. Wasn't there speculation at one point or another that the Countess might've been a witch?... I guess it could just be a recurring fashion choice made by RM with no deeper meaning, though.
every season has their own different stories (murder house, asylum, coven, freak show and hotel) but some elements from one season may make a cameo on another so its best that you watch it chronologically so you'll understand what the fuck is going on. also, theres a theory that all seasons are connected so its best you watch them all.
