- The new series, "Riverdale," is based on the Archie comics, and will premiere 1/26 on the CW. Lili Reinhart will star as Betty Cooper and Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge. The show is a darker, edgier version of the famous comic series, from Greg Berlanti. Interview at 692 Broadway in NYC for BUILD Series.

The actresses seem really nice and down to earth. I love hearing them shared their stories how they got the role. I had no idea they weren't into Archie Comics while growing up. But again they did a good job playing their roles on the first episode. This show looks like it's going to be a success like Gossip Girl.
Really enjoyed the pilot, especially the music, lighting and colors used. What I truly loved most about it is, Veronica and Betty both obviously like Archie but Veronica is willing to let that go because her friendship with Betty is more important. Usually girls will fight or drop their friend because of that but not these girls. I personally think they should forget about Archie the horn dog and date each other😭

She was just attracted to him and that closet scene just proved that the old Veronica (like the one living in New York and being the typical spoiled brat) starts coming out which the new Veronica regretted since it also affected her new relationship or friendship with Betty.

I feel like they continue giving us hints of them being more than friends, just to keep the shippers watching, but they never make it canon, because it seems like the never ending fight between them over Archie is a very important storyline and if they let it go, it might make them loose the original Archie fans.
But I'll never give up the hope.

I don't care about the rest of the cast. I just love Lili & Cami's real-life friendship. Everyone knows how close they were (the show's over at the time I'm writing this) & people love how cute & funny they are together. I've seen tons of videos on YT, plus pics & vid clips on Pinterest of them. There's a reason they did a shit ton of photo shoots together. People just loved them.
I digressed in my previous comment & forgot to make my original point! I agree w/ you re this interviewer being top-notch. I've seen some other interviewers that were cringy. This guy was classy, he asked thoughtful questions, he let them speak at length, he didn't hound them until he got a certain response, he seemed in tune with them emotionally. I wish every INTERVIEWER was this good with his or her interview subjects.

Let me guess... You grew up watching Zack & Cody & had a crush on them. Pay attention. This interview was done before the show even premiered. The comment to which you are responding is 7 years old. ARCHIE was the third character in the love triangle for 75 years when this was taped & Jughead was an asexual character who had no use for women. All he cared about was hamburgers. I enjoyed watching the pilot of Riverdale, I like this version of Archie comics. It is interesting to see how the friendship relationship with this two female characters.

I saw the pilot tonight and I ended up loving the character Betty and her mother and of course the Sprouse twin. I am also glad that the show had some seasoned actors on the show. But yeah, Betty so far was the most interesting character on there. I can't wait to see more of Sprouse though.

Re B & V, yes, I think they should have been endgame. Cheryl was hetero in the comics & in S1 of Riverdale. They only made her gay & gave her a love interest because there were SO MANY fans wanting Beronica that the show wanted to divert attention away from them.

Saw the first episode and it's really good Takes the campy nature of the source material and does a really good job giving it a real world spin and could totally fill the void when pretty little liars ends (😭😭 I'm not ready)
It's so wild watching this a year later...I remember seeing this video when there was only a couple hundred views, and no one knew how Riverdale was going to be received...now it's a year later and one of the biggest teen shows on right now, and both Camila and Lili have millions of followers.

Well, it doesn't matter to the story if Lili is bi or not. What matters is what the showrunner & writers do with the characters. I'd love to see B & V be a couple because Archie jerking them around with his indecision for 75-80 years is already too long. If he snoozes, let him lose. But didn't Archie & Betty already get married in the comics? I saw the cover of the comic in which Kevin & Clay get married (as ADULTS) & Barchie was at their wedding, obviously together as a couple. @@jannafreudenberg1878
There are lots of hints that there is some level of attraction between them. The way they look each other up & down (in the PILOT episode alone!) is one example. Even the comics teased the idea decades ago so shipping them together is nothing new. In fact, I downloaded a commissioned cover made by one of the comic artists in which "Betty Marries Veronice!" and at the bottom, "Jughead Marries Hamburgers" 😀! And this was BEFORE the modernized versions of the comics. @@nives5844

My dad got Netflix just a 2 months ago, and we were scrolling through what we can watch, then went like 'Hey, it says Riverdale, sounds like Archie...'
I recognized it because when I was around 7 to 9, I was obsessed with Archie. I preferred Betty and Archie, but when Cheryl sometimes came into the scene in the comics, I was like 'BETTY AND VERONICA ABOUT TO TAKE YOU DOWN. THEY ARE BOSS, DON'T TAKE ARCHIE AWAY FROM THEM.'
They had like, such a bomb friendship though.
It's like, their part of life with the love triangle is put aside and they have this awesome friendship. The B and V!

So fun watching this after Season 2
I was a late fan by almost a year but I absolutely love the show and I thought at first that Betty was the perfect girl next door and Veronica was the spoiled rich girl but I was very wrong and also the love triangle burnt down and demolished by 1x3 when Betty called Jughead “Juggie”
