    As always you saved me from 1, reading the manual 5 times so i can absorb all the info. 2, knowing what to look for & accurately diagnose what i already suspected. I Started getting vibration under acceleration, vibration went away when clutch was engaged or in Neutral. 3, Getting it fixed at home with basic hand tools. Thanks yet again mate. Us Aussie Defender owners love your Vids.

    I had to grease my defender 90 as my 10k km service was due.
    There was no way i could deliver the grease into the uni joint grease nipple..
    Multiple different grease guns in different positions and angels with pressure..
    Multiple different nozzles..Whilst under the Vehicle.Not one bit of grease went in....
    Literally had to take each prop shaft off,Place on a table....Get direct exact angel...Apply all my force onto it and squeeze....FINALLY went in...Absolutely fantastic feeling that Only a landrover can give you.

    Great video, but what's the reason for the front propshaft being out of phase?

    Thank you for the very helpful vlog! I own a 61 plate puma and I struggle to fit a grease gun on the UJ nipple's? I often have to remove the propshafts to gain access, can you recommend a solution?

    Is the yoke toast if the caps spin slightly in the yoke?

    Thanks Chris...I take it that it only applies to the coil sprung models then???

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  10 років тому +1

      Nope applies to all changeable prop shaft UJs.

    Nice video, but it omits a basic issue which most will struggle with - the removal of the flange bolts on the axle and transfer case ends. These bolts are almost unmovable with a conventional set of spanners etc. It's impossible to get a normal socket between the yokes to turn the bolt head. What tools are used by you to do this?

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  9 років тому

      www.paddockspares.com/da1119-propshaft-bolt-removal-tool-usually-14-50gbp.html Here,... this is the popular solution.

      Aha! THAT's what it's for (they call it something different in the USA). I'll run out and buy one! Many thanks! Maybe insert a small mention of this particular tool in your otherwise excellent vids?

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  9 років тому

      yes I have mentioned it somewhere else. It is an excellent tool. Always kept one spare in the vehicle and a couple in my toolboxes as it also come in useful on other vehicles too!! Can be used sensibly with an air wrench.

      Remember it is 9/16 and not 14mm. It’s a 3-8x24 bolt.

    I have a new to me Disco 2, I went under to grease the CV's and the prop shafts and I have the following questions:
    1) on the rear CV I could not get grease to squirt out of all of the barrings, is that a bad sign?
    2) can I use too much grease?

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  7 років тому

      Bad sign if the grease isn't evenly greasing the UJs? It could be. you only want to pump in enough grease so you can hear the air crackling out from the rubbers.

    • @scottmccullough8030
      @scottmccullough8030 7 років тому

      super....I may have over done it.

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  7 років тому

      It will only fling out the grease it doesn't need. The thing is where grease comes out, water gets in. Worth regularly apply some grease to them.

  • @nickjaxe

    Mmmm so the out of line props..which land-rover have props made like that and what the reason Chris.

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  10 років тому +1

      Don't know why they wanted the yokes to be set like this but it will be something to do with the behaviour of the axle / suspension movement.
