This is a joke, right? Look at any photos of the preproduction Jeeps, meaning those submitted to the Army for testing purposes and prior to the final MB and GPW design and you can easily follow the evolution of the Jeep grille. The first Bantams looked nothing like the grille supposedly shown as the Bantam. Fact: The first 25,000 or so MB's used the welded or riveted so called "barbecue grille" shown towards the end of this video. When Ford commenced production of the GPW it made the debut of the stamped slat grille, with 9 slats, which Willys adopted also. After the end of WW2 Willys then trademarked their own 7 slat version for use with the CJ and also M-38's
