I am such a huge fan of your channel because you give info that not only the tech savvy but the tech challenged can find and figure out. The chrome hidden features video I'd recommend to EVERYONE as yes(!) the scroll control did help and now my phone's screen doesn't go jumping around (causing me to click on unwanted ads & redirection to their website) but the freezing up whenever an ad was taking forever to load has completely stopped and I no longer want to throw it up against the wall, lol! So thanks and keep the tips coming, especially the hidden/experimental commands that people might not realize are there thinking that Google and Chrome are the same thing as they are NOT but you just assume they are because that's what engine Google uses(Seriously, Microsoft uses Bing, edge, Firefox and explorer(!) so definitely worth checking out the individual settings for each application you might use on your phone, the background running setting in my phone being turned to stop Apps from running still didn't stop Chrome from doing so and like you said, if I close an app I want it CLOSED & not slowing down or eating up my battery charge! Thanks bunches T-Joe you seriously have helped me a lot with Phone improvement when even the store employees where I got it couldn't. Now any ideas on WHY my Android phone won't read my 32GB SD card as internal storage like it's supposed to with the version of Android I'm using? ZTE mavin 2 is totally USED up with systems operations, and WHY do I have duplicate and triplicate copies of pics in my Google drive? They can't seem to help and I can not stand being told I not only can't delete certain photos but can't use them for attchmt's either?!? ANNOYING!!! But the SD card thing is my biggest issue. TY again!!! KPG
I just want to take a moment and thankyou for putting out quality tech content videos which are actually very informative! thankyou joe, regards from India :)
I got excited for WPA3, then researched it a little and found they've already exposed major flaws that leave it as vulnerable as WPA2 to certain types of attacks. Well... that didn't take long.
There is no encryption method at all for publick networks, it has nothing to do with wpa2, when setting it up you can decide between WPA/WPA2/WPA3/NULL, in this case NULL being no encription or key at all
I want to clarify that brute force attacks have improvet too! Nowadays the computer doesn't try every password on the network itself, but uses a special capturing service to capture a specific module, called the "WPA-Handshake" which includes an "IV" which can be captured and used by itself to test if a passkey is valid or not, using the right software hackers will be able to crack it in seconds. Thanks for reading ad paying attention.(Source of Knowledge: Z Security)
WPA3 is causing problems for many including security flaws. As with any new technology, it will likely take time to go mainstream. My guess is that it can take 5 or more years before WPA3 surpasses WPA2 in terms of market share.
If I remember when wpa2 came out some older devices couldn't support it. Hopefully the hardware which has been around for a while is capable of running wpa3. If so then hopefully software updates to existing WiFi access points and routers will mean they're wpa3 capable also.
So this new secure thingy, the FAP - 3, it's better than the FAP - 2? I don't get it. Does it make a difference on my home wifi if all I have is 2 laptops and no phone?
It sounds too familiar to what BlackBerry has been doing for years now. It was all in their settings on what you wanted it to be more safer than what their defaults were. Only if they could have made their phones quality at start as good as the z10 is. You can still buy new z10's, z30's & others on Amazon & Ebay as well. For both of the z10's & z30's are unlocked
Yes a software update will fix all modern WiFi devices as long as they support the latest WiFi standard such as N, AC and ofcourse the even newer standards AD, AF, AX (older standards not listed above are deemed to slow to support WPA3 even if they could be automatically updated!) * Future WiFi devices will have to use Beamforming over Omnidirectional broadcasting in order to reduce interference and increase speed as well as allow more devices to connect to a single Modem/Router in theory at least for the last point! WPA3 Is also rumoured to be implemented on internet capable LiFi devices starting later yhis year and older devices will get the update by mid-year!
ThioJoe, honestly, your fake vids were more popular and got more views! You got millions of views on those videos. Now you only get around 50,000 views in average. Please continue with the funny stuff and do these tech stuff on your separate channel! Please! I enjoyed your fake, funny stuff
Yup i know, let him do what he enjoys. But honestly, im pretty much saying that i enjoy his fake stuff. When I said "continue," I just suggested and I didn't fully mean it. But he should still post fake stuff once in a while.
David I didn't know he stopped it for that reason. I remember him announcing that tech videos would move to his main channel. Honestly, his tech videos here barely get views. Firstly in September 2016 (I think), he made a video promising that he'd stop with the fake stuff and move to real tech content. But in April 1, 2017 (April fools), he did do a fake video which got more than a million views. See! His fake stuff got and might still get lot more views.
There's an option to enable wpa3 on my router, but there's no material on how exactly enabling it would affect my devices or if it's even backwards compatible. I can't seem to find any videos of people even testing it out.
Well no...If you're device goes continuously patching after 2020 ..you may get that advantage... + Don't use Mix type of transition mode.... use standalone
Hey ThioJoe. I have an ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-E Gaming motherboard with WI-FI. I'm reading the book right now about encryption and so on. Anything I need to be concerned with?
Well, you got that Brute Force part a bit wrong. You don't try the passwords on the router. You monitor the network activity around the router and when a device connects to it, a special hash depending on the routers and your MAC Adress and the password and some other stuff is being transmitted over the air. You have recorded that hash and are now able to brute force the key out of this hash with thousands of combinations per second. They say that brute-forcing the password just by getting the hash somehow won't be possible anymore in WPA3. How exactly they did that is not known yet...
John Doe very good point, thanks for making me aware of my naive or "in the box thinking" on this. I do not analyze his commenting pattern though, so my main concern is his overall excellent video content. Nonetheless, point taken, and thank you again for taking the time to point this possibility out... ... some more than others, but I guess we all have to be spoon-fed from time to time. We are social creatures made better by each other, especially if we remain open-minded to correction / improvement / new ideas. Be well! ☺️
Individual encryption sounds nice when out using public wifi, does the hand-shake get any improvements? Can one device support WPA2 and WPA3 together or just one at a time? Ima gonna go google me some whitepapers... :P
In my country there no router to support wpa3, so better goes with wpa2. In this year i will get dual band router because prices lowering now. i searched tp link for news there is no news to get new standard. I realy wanted to see a router out there how uses new security but wpa for homes are the best.
. Ihi can you help me. i bought a cell from china and i tried to connect it to my home network, it did connect but it does not detect the internet. i looked on all or most of the solution on youtube. none of them worked for me.please help. thank u in advance
this is all nice until you block the wpa3 connect and let the user fallback to wpa2 to attack the MFker in a transparent way.As long as you have legacy wpa2 enabled this option will have literally no security increase.
5:10 i don't know if i just think to far ahead and i don't want to scare everybody but i don't think it's something secure... we still don't know everything but i can allready see methods that use the feature to hack into a wifi network. I hope the protect it as much as possible so they don't accedantly make an easy way for black hat hackers to get in the network.
I'd like to know if the individual encryption part will be easily noticed in a WiFi drop down menu on say a smartphone. Is this an unencrypted OG WiFi hot spot or one that had WPA3 individual encryption? Neither would need a key... I hope they thought of that and I bet they have, but this needs to be tackled for sure, otherwise there'll be a lot of misplaced trust going around. I'd still use a VPN anyways though, if just to lower the risk of active man in the middle attacks from fake hot spots.
What ever happened to all the full-featured powerful, Open Source Firmware (flash/brick it?) software for popular wireless routers? Did it all get scrubbed from the Internets due to its potential misuse?

FINALLY. About time we got a new security method.
Excellent video. Keep up the good work.👍
