I know this is from last year but I didn’t have much in my garden last year. I started my garden in summer 2022,when I moved here. It’s been a slow process, this year it have so much more to think about, clean up, plant. So many projects and not enough energy.
I’ll take out and big clumps in spring, but I keep using the soil year after year. The soil in my raised beds has been there since 2020 (but I add to it each year so who knows of any of the original soil is technically still there)
I’m finding that when my soil gets dried out it hard to get it to absorb water. Is there anything that you’re aware of so it’s not hydrophobic the next seasons use? Is there a wetting agent? Thank you for all the great videos. I’m in a newly zone 7b.
That is a lot of work but you did it. It’s always rewarding when it’s all cleaned up and you begin to plan for the coming year.
It is such a good feeling!
Robbie and Gary on u tube has great tips on container gardening. Plus learned how to cook soil in oven to get rid of and contaminates

Wait a minute, hold the phone. what about that HAT. That hat is beautiful. I think that is my favorite hat by far. You be styling Girl.
Thank you!! This is my fall hat when my sun hats seem to summery 😆
When soil is in the container, does it sweat and water in the container? Is this condensation and okay to have in my container ? Thanks.
It does a little bit once it warms up after freezing temps, so I’ll crack the lid open a bit in early spring!
Do you sift your soil in the spring? How many seasons do you use your container soil before you replacing it?

Wondering if you could slid the aquapot under the big raised bed for protection.?
That’s a great idea! I might have to tip it to get it under but I think once I get it under the bottom lip of the bed it should stand up straight.
Thanks! do you cover your soil for winter?
Yes! I put the plastic lid on the bin.
@@ChicagoGardener do you cover your rased garden bed and the smart pots ?
What does garden look like in summer??
Check out my august garden tour on my channel! That’s the garden at its peak.

Usually if my soil gets to dry I’ll mix in some compost and water and it usually works!
Really like your channel. What area are you? I just moved further south in Crete think I got my plants pretty much where their going for the winter
Up near DePaul!
Do I keep the lid closed when I put my organic soil in a big container ? And do I place my container in my garage? Or leave it outside all year?
I place the lid on and leave it on my deck bc it’s too heavy for me to carry.
@@ChicagoGardener Even in the winter?
Thanks for asking the question I had too.
@@aannddrryyaa You’re welcome.
Put it on the rollers to move it
