Why is my internet producing much much much better quality picture on my tv rather than aerial?
@@shaneedwards3518because the tv stations only air 1080P Dow to 480i on ATSC 1.0
I grew up installing Channel Master and Winegard brand Yagi antenna's with my father for his business. Radio Shack used to have some decent brands too, They always tend to last long if properly installed. Many of them now include integrated matching transformers on a sealed PCB enclosure and I love it! Despite how well you can seal a matching transformer against the elements on your own....it will eventually disintegrate from corrosion and UV exposure. At least on the integrated ones, its under warranty :D
Radio Shack sold antennas made by Finco under Radio Shack's private label "Archer" for decades.
I have one of them old channel master tv antenna it works good sometimes I can pull in stations over 100 miles away
just got a HDHomerun Scribe Duo to get OTA and Im having some issues with pixelization on some channels. I have an outdoor mast antenna on top of my 1 story home, Antenna was already installed when I bought the home in 2001. I will have to check out your video on getting better OTA signal. Thanks for the info. great channel
Sounds like you need a better antenna setup. Consider an antenna recommendation from me at the link below. This can prevent you from spending hundreds of dollars and time wasted on setting up the wrong antenna for your area. antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
Good video. I used to get several channels with my antenna, but, now I can only get a few when I turn the antenna toward towers. Maybe bad coax. Also, I use a booster that may be shot. Thanks!
In actuality, seeing your reception is a bit "Bouncy" (watched several antenna reviews), a steady signal will work at around 35%, but I have seen super-steady signals work at 21%, albeit rare.
The actual reason for the pixelization is the data set gets wrecked when a weak signal, or interference, does not allow it to survive the trip. This only happens if the instruction set (draw image, play audio, give information on what's showing, etc.) gets through OK, then the data that instruction is to decode gets damaged en-route.
Very likely failure is the image, rarely the sound will get messed up, usually stops (a surviving chunk may pop, shriek, or repeats a surviving data set, causing that audio "Stutter"). The information set usually gets through, as it has so little data attached.
I have had this effect on my screen for the last several months. But then, my TV aerial is about 17 years old. I had installed it myself; but I am no longer physically able to do that. I await my younger brother's return to install a brand new one he bought and had sent to me. There are high-tension power lines just north of my place; we live some distance south of the Mount Wilson transmitter in Los Angeles.
thank you fcc for digital tv. great for cities but crap for rural. at least with the analog you could always get sound even if the picture was coming and going. but who needs emergency weather alerts anyways
Other countries use the dvb-t standard which can drop to a lower picture quality in order to keep the broadcast going on the TV. ATSC sucks IMO but at least I got a UA-cam channel out of it.
@@AntennaMan I remember when ATSC actually looked good. Now they compressed the channels so much to put HD and SD programs on a single channel (68 in Boston has 2 1080i channels, and 4 SD channels), UA-cam no longer looks bad next to TV. It's designed only for 1 HD broadcast (either 720, or 1080), OR up to 4 SD channels. Cram it all in to look like crap, and to give the government more needed bandwidth TV actually does need. (35 channels aren't enough.)
I used to DX analog signals, some tropo bounce signals from 700 miles were capable in the day on vhf and meteor bounces channels on uhf at night up to 1100 miles.
Regularly received signals from Nashville, Memphis, Paducah, Cape Girardeau, Jackson tn....
Now a 45 mile signal is best can do because of tree reflections and refractions.
Thanks FCC for selling out to big commuications.
I found through much trial and error, that I was over amplifying local signals.
So I'm "currently" happy with my Channel Master CM 4228 and an RCA pre amp. I've removed the various inside "Monster" signal amps and the local channels straightened up. I'm pushing the signal to 5 tv sets and get good reception.
I was bent on buying a Channel Master Pre amp, but decided I'm fairly good with the RCA. I bought an ONN, but it's still in the box and I might give it to my daughter and Son-In-Law. I gave them a roof mount about a year ago and they still haven't mounted it and hooked it up.
What I need to do next is find a good tower and buy a rotor. I'm about 8 -10' above my roof and live in a wooded area.
The CM 4228 is good for me because I live 5 miles from the coast, so the CM 4228 is supposed to pick up 180 degrees. But I'd still like to check out the old school 120 inch Channel Master, with a rotor.
My tower is held by the 18" wall mounts that I bought 40 years ago. Lowes sold top rail fence post as a Antenna tower, but Hurricane Florence twisted it up. 3 10' sections. I've replaced it with thicker conduit pipe, just 2 10' section, but jacked up 4 ft off the ground.
During the aftermath of the storm, I used a roof mounted antenna that withstood the storm and provided local programming and weather reports.
for those interested once you lose power, you lose your cable, Internet and phone unless you have AT&T old school phone. And for about 10 or so hours, we lost Cell phone service. we have 2 different providers. So a generator and a tv antenna is peace of mind.
Yes, if you add a preamp to already strong signals it will over amplify and kill them.
I do have an outdoor roof antenna, and it still has pixelate?
I am right outside the Chicago area and I do believe the big phone/internet/cable companies are randomly emitting broadcast jamming waves, so people get frustrated and subscribe to cable. Some days I get all channels clear, some days only a few and other times all channels pixelate. It's just really odd when and how much it happens.
Thank you Tyler for your information. I have reviewed a lot of your videos and used your recommendations to purchase the clearview 4V antenna. I'm hoping that will clear up my pixelation problems: But mine are a little different.
I live in the 78628 zip (near Austin, Tx) and my stations are all about 35 miles in a straight line (196 degrees) and co-located (ie every station transmits from the same spot). I have one of those generic chinese antennas (don't ask me name or brand - I can't remember) that I am going to replace with the Clearview 4v tomorrow. I also have the Channel Master CM-7777 amplifier going from the antenna to a 6 way generic splitter. I only have 3 TVs although I have cable going to 6 rooms. Longest cable run is probably 50 ft with most of them in the 20-30 ft range.
Here the problem I have: My pixelation happens at the same time every day. I can watch all channels all day, but about 7pm to 10pm (almost to the dot), most major stations (Fox 7, CBS 42, and NBC 46) go out although ABC 24 and PBS 18 still work great. This didn't start happening until a few months after I got the previous antenna. I was hoping the CM-7777 would help, but it did not. I didn't want to by a $200+ signal tester for a 1 time use. The purchase of the Clearview 4V is my latest attempt to resolve this issue.
Any other suggestions?
The 6 way generic splitter is likely killing your signal even with the preamp. Replace it with this: amzn.to/2K0lY4O
The signal meters can be strange on Panasonic TVs. Once had a signal (VHF, 212.500mHz) come in from 134km+ away, (signal quality: 1, signal strength: 4) it was crystal clear with no pixelation whatsoever. On other occasions it's come up with the same strength but was pixelated, or sometimes no service. VHF signal strengths from dxing can be weird
You're right 40-50% depending on the channel seems to be where you can't watch it. I have that issue with WHTM but hopefully that will be resolved soon. I even tried to not buy a junk antenna but still didn't get it 100% on the first try.
Antenna Man you a great help to me and my Antennas. You are very good, THANKS slot.😀📡
Thanks great presentation !! One question do you use RCA coaxial cable? Cheers🇬🇸
I recently went OTA and purchased a shelf model RCA antenna from Home Depot. It works ok, but it can do better. My PBS channels come through highly pixelated. I plan on a new antenna so will take you up on your offer :). My ZIP is 85650. My new antenna will be outside about 10 ft off ground level facing North'sh... I think :) Thanks
I'm not sure what shelf model you are using but if you want an outdoor antenna you can start with this ClearStream model.
amzn.to/34uJwX6
I like digital TV because the picture is excellent especially the HDTV channels, but most of the time I miss the Analog TV. If the signal wasn't good you could watch the picture, yes there were annoying factors like ghosting, static or interference. With an outdoor Yagi antenna I personally didn't had problems, all channels came good or great. But I could use an indoor antenna (the rabbit ears how some people called them) and the picture was good or acceptable. Now with an indoor antenna (passive or active) doesn't work at all (only outside in the garden), and you are limited with an outdoor antenna.
Yes very few people can get away with antennas indoors because of how digital works. Most people need to mount an antenna outside for reliable reception of all market channels.
Hi Tyler. Love your videos that are extremely blunt. I live in the 22407 zip code area. What outside and inside antennas do you recommend for this area. Thanks for the informative videos
HI Tyler. First I have to say your videos are great and super helpful. thank you for the info you put out on youtube. I was wondering if you can recommend something for my problem. I have an OTA on my roof. I have 5 tvs on my house and and sixth coax that runs about 75 feet out to my detached garage where it splits(BAMF 2-Way Coax Cable Splitter Bi-Directional MoCA 5-2300MHz) in to 2 for a tv in the garage and my guess house. The signal is great in the house but i loose some channels on the garage and guess house. My antenna is one of those you dont recommend "HD antenna" that has a pre amplifier at the antenna and an amplifier before it goes into a 8 output splitter(not a distribution amp). I watch you video on preamps and distribution amplifier but I got a little lost. I was wondering what you recommend. (i dont completely loose the channels they get very pixilated) and the 2 tvs are lg and vizio. I would appreciate you help. thank you.
I got an antenna with an amplifier and it worked great, then one day every single channel had pixelization. At first I thought the amplifier went bad, but it turned out my Roku stick started interfering with it.
So what's the solution,to remove your Roku?
I live out in the country and purchased a very large (about 14 feet long) Winegaurd antenna less than two years ago. Although all that info is kind of mute because when I put it up, I was getting a ton of channels. Now, all of a sudden, all I get it "No Signal". I went up to the antenna and saw that the cable connecting to the antenna was loose. I tightened it up but still nothing. Could something be wrong with the little black box the cable attaches to? Thank You in advance.
Thanks , i found this helpful . Ive been having this problem with a new hd ready tv .
Ive just switched off the booster box ive always had since the kids all had tv s . They have grown up and moved out now , so just one tv in use upstairs . It seems better since switching off the booster / splitter box . Do you find that is a solution
Low signal strength is certainly capable of causing the picture to pixellate and causing loss of picture and sound - but not the only one.
If you're within 30 miles of your broadcasters' transmitter sites, signal strength is usually not the problem. Multipath (reflections of the signal from buildings, houses, cars, even people - especially if close to the antenna, particularly indoors).
Reflections can turn a signal into gibberish- which can't be fixed by amplification.
People on a farm 40 miles from the Hancock tower in Chicago, with a small outdoor antenna, can expect reliable reception.
While a resident of a condominium ON the eightieth floor of the Hancock needs cable - due to multipath.
I just bought a Channel Master Omni+ outdoor antenna.
Let me know how it works
What about putting the antenna in the attic?
I'm in the mountains with very irregular terrain. If not for error correction we could not get over-the-air TV. Before digital, many of our channels were riddled with ghosting. Now I get 46 channels -- including subs.
Some areas benefited from the transition others lost. My father lives behind a mountain 65+ miles from the towers. Analog we could pick up all NY and Philadelphia VHF although it was snowy. After the transition we can only pick up one NY signal and one Philadelphia signal.
Parts of upstate NY in-particular got zonked, then lots of broadcasters killed their translators post-transition. Sometimes you just have to get lucky, sadly.. I'm at the second-highest point in my town, but those in the flats need cable or DBS if they want network coverage.
@@stevejohnson1321 broadcasters also killed translators in my area that had been around for nearly 40 years.
Hopefully we'll gain on the repack, but I suspect I'll lose a couple of channels. The consumer isn't supposed to lose anything in the process, yet of course history tells a very different story. Half my channels are phase 4, and the remainder phase 8 -- could be messy for awhile..
Great presentation, my zip code 14150, looking a decent outdoor antenna that I can rotate. I am 12 miles north of Buffalo and 52 miles southeast of Toronto Canada as he crow flies. Back in the 1970s our rooftop antennas were able to easily pick up Toronto tv stations.
I now offer antenna recommendations for a small fee at the link below. One from me can prevent you from spending hundreds of dollars and time wasted on setting up the wrong antenna for your area. antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
Tyler, I enjoy your UA-cam channel and am a new subscriber.:) Lots of very helpful information.:) Thank you.:)
Okay, zip code is 44085. I have an Antennas Direct C2-V-CJM ClearStream 2-V Long Range UHF/VHF Indoor/Outdoor DTV Antenna. I have it up about twenty feet on a pole attached to the chimney. I have the antena pointed directly south to pick up Youngstown, Ohio stations. I sometimes get Erie PA stations 66 and 24 on the back end of the antenna.
Lately, I've been getting a lot of pixelation and dropped signals. However, your channel informed me that repackaging is taking place. It appears the NBC affiliate WFMJ is coming in stronger than all other channels, whereas, before, NBC was nowhere to be found and all other channels were rock solid. I'm thinking all I may need to do is a simple rescan for all channels.
I also have an antenna tower but the old antenna and rotar need to be removed and replaced. I'd do it myself, but lack the safety equipment.
Would an omni-directional antenna on the tower (or my current set-up) be better? Or should I go with your recommended antenna and a new rotar? Ultimately, I want to get an antenna on the tower. Not sure who does this in my area.
You do not want an omni directional antenna. It would likely take away some of the weaker channels. The Clearstream 2V is a small directional and works in some cases but it sounds to me like you need something a bit stronger. I used to setup antennas in your area and WFMJ/WKBN had the strongest signal. Then WKBN sold their spectrum and channel shared with WYTV/WYFX and their signal was greatly reduced. They are applying for a higher position on the tower but that can take a few months. If you're looking for a better antenna I'd try this RCA model. amzn.to/2xIra5W It would be a good idea to add this preamp as well amzn.to/2LMpq3S It's up to you if you wanted to add a rotor but in my opinion you are getting mostly duplicate programming on the erie Fox and ABC channels.
@@AntennaMan/Tyler, thanks very much for this information!:) Very helpful!:) Just need someone experienced to do the install.:)
Also, I'm thinking if I can get the antenna up on the tower, I might as wel get a rotar. Can you recommend one?
One additional question. You recommended the RCA antena. In another video you recommend the Channel Master CM-3020 Long Range VHF, UHF, FM and HDTV Antenna. If I'm mounting on the tower I want to do it once. Biggest antenna, rotar, etc. Would this Channel Master be a better choice than the RCA? Or dos the RCA have something that the Channel Master does not?
Is normal to loose some channels during the day and gain them back at night
Why does my signal go out on PBS when my downstairs neighbor comes home and puts her music on? The picture freezes, pixelates and the sound is choppy and cuts off abruptly. And then that dreaded "NO SIGNAL" splashscreen, when ALL connections are the same as they were before. Important information missed and lost. I'm in an apartment and cannot run anything outdoors. Please help!.
Do older TVs have weaker tuners than newer TVs? I recently helped my father swap out his 5 or so year old Vizio smart TV with a 2007 Panasonic plasma. He wants the plasma TV because of the great picture and much larger screen. After scanning for channels, the Panasonic barely pulled any channels and the ones it did were pixilated and weak. Also, it was able to find channels that the newer TV could not and are far away but couldn't find local channels that we've never had issues with receiving. He is running a large outdoor pole mounted antenna.
In some cases yes. Check out my video on this topic below. ua-cam.com/video/FhZ7H-cwFCk/v-deo.html
Hi you have helped me alot,,,I live in a wooded area in Delaware, 19960,,,bought a Rca,small antenna for 41 dollars and a onn amplifier you talked about,,,I got 11 channels without the amplifier and 21 with,,, no rotor set at 218 degrees toward Salisbury Maryland was 3 stations within 75 miles of me,, what antenna would you suggest,,, Thanks

Excellent content. So, I did happen to buy the exact model outdoor antenna you said NOT to 😵💫. But the amp hasn’t gone out. It’s pointed in the right direction mounted on my one story roof, central FL (no hills) area.
*Every* channel pixelated.
- LG TV at least 5 years old but in good shape.
-39miles from tx’s.
-FCC map shows strong signal for all major broadcasters in my area.
-all are UHF except NBC, which is HI-V.
- bypassed splitter so signal goes direct to HDHomerun device.
Is the pingy bingy dingy just THAT useless?
Chances it’s related to my TV refresh rate degrading?
About ready to give up on this whole OTA thing
aaaaand the answer is: HDHomerun hardware (Silicon Dust). When I completely bypassed and connected directly to tV coax port, no pixelation.
On My Area Is weakening the signal It’s Was WNJN It’s was VHF Channel 8 but I Have Channel Master Omni 50+
You may need a larger antenna. The Omni + doesn't have much VHF gain.
Our new rv came with a new Winegard 360+ we are staying stationary only 20 miles from Montgomery Al we are only getting 2 channels on the outdoor kitchen tv and no signal on the 50” indoor one (when we scan; crazy thing that tv won’t allow us to choose antenna🤨). My question is why would we be able to get 30+ channels with a cheap $10 indoor antenna out In the middle of nowhere (hunting camp) but can only get two on an outdoor tv with a brand new fancy smancy 360+ Winegard? I have tried emailing them and calling (they are never there apparently) and the store we purchased the camper from is zero help. Have you seen this before? Do we need to add a part or another type of antenna all together?(looking hard at one on Amazon that Bob Villa recommended but hate to spend more money when the new one should work). Btw we checked to make sure the booster was on and the cable from tv to wall is tight on both ends on inside and outside tv. Thank you so much for your videos they are awesome 👏🏻
I am using Antennas Direct Clearstream 4V TV Antenna and current booster is US2-PH61112 2b db ,my question is normally if if overload the signal would i lose nearby channel or far away one?I am losing the weaker signal which would be channel 7 45miles away ,channel 12 -is 11 miles away - strong signal is ok ,would this scenario tell me i am overloading the signal ?My question is why channel 7 comes back when the weather gets bad rainy cloudy .
Suggestion for 38017 for attic mount? Ch 5, NBC is notoiously difficult to pick up in our area. Not that far and no significant obstructions.SMH. Thanks.
Your NBC station is a low VHF channel and most antennas do not have those type of elements. Below is an antenna that would work for it. If it solves your reception issues please consider a contribution to my UA-cam channel. amzn.to/2Whl6yH
I live in an apartment with a deck. The lease prohibits drilling through the wall. Is there any way to use an outdoor antenna?
I installed a Channel Master 80 mile antenna and preamp. I still get pixels and lost signal. Noticed that this only happens with my Vizio and not with my Samsung. Perhaps quality of the tuners depends on the manufacturers. I will replace the Vizio since it’s 5 years old.
I have 250mile 4K 1080P Outdoor Amplified HDTV TV Antenna Digital UHF VHF 360°Rotation in garage wired through previous cable distribution. has wroked fine but have pixilation on all channels. Any thoughts? I installed signal amplifiers at each TV....

My problem is these ebay outdoor antennas last not even 2 years. They start to lose signal until there is none. I am on my third one and it's not coincidence.
There is a neighbor who downloaded a scrambler and is close to my tv when I lose signal How do I get the fcc to remove this app from the web ?
Hey Antenna Man I'm curious. All summer long we've had trouble getting over the air channels with our outdoor antenna but now that the weather turned much colder we're picking up stations regularly. Could it be that the temp has something to do with receiving signals?? Or coincidence??
I've already covered this in a different video if you want to check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/BYuDBL3-duI/v-deo.html
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the channel!

Can tree growth cause a station that used to provide a good signal to constantly pixelate now? I have an external channel master with channel master amplifier that has been reliable for about 8-10 years in NC. But seems to have difficulty now.
What do you recommend for 47374?
Would a multi-directional antenna be sufficient, or would I be better served getting a directional and pointing it SouthEast?
Before I started looking into how antennas worked, we got a 'Magic Stick' antenna.
Seems like one of those junk fake 'HD' antennas.
The signals are too weak for a multi-directional to pick them up. The majority of your stations come from the east except PBS. It's likely you'd be able to pick it up from the back with this antenna. amzn.to/2YbSTaI However if you want something a little more powerful and a better chance to get reliable reception on all channels I'd go with this Channel Master. amzn.to/2J9ni2Y
50662 andreceives broadcasts from Rowley antenna. My uncle's 70's or 80's winegard UHF or VHF or both was mangled in the 60 mile an hour winds yesterday so maybe you can video on how I can repair it because I kind of bent it back a little bit but it's bent 20-30 degrees right at center connection kinked and also a few elements broken off?
Get a new antenna. Not worth the time and effort to fix when it'll likely break off again soon.
Loose signal when cold outside in the morning but if unplug inside amplifier it comes back on for awhile then repeats again but during the day when it warms up a little bit this problem goes away.

Hi. I live next to power line, 400kv one, dvbt2 signal strength is 70%(-61dBm) and it randomly drops to 5%, then again returns to 71% and so on. I have regular outdoor passive ota antenna.
What should i do?
Question.. Certain stations that were solid a couple months ago are now pixelating. Somedays they are fine. But more often they are not. My viewing area went to ATSC 3.0 recently. Could this be causing the pixelating problems? I am not using a ATSC 3.0 receiver. Also, I am now receiving stations that I never got before. Why?
Thanks AM.
Antenna tv has always been trash since the change to hd antenna. I have bought maybe a dozen antennas. I just gave up. No one i know has good service
I live in a condo so we are not allowed to have antennas outside... but I do have an attic and, have an existing cable running up there to the back of my TV... (It is the better stuff with a double braided shield) can you suggest an attic model...??? 19382
I think my antenna was struck by lightning, all I get now is no signal,, i’m going to buy a new antenna one that you advise to get. How and should I test the cable that I already have an use this way I might not have to buy a new cable
You likely had a strike that damaged a transistor in your preamplifier or in the television's tuner itself.
Getting a new TV tuner box may be the only option. Fortunately, they are inexpensive.

Sometimes we do get pixels with some of our tv stations from time to time. We have not had it happen for a while now. Last night the TV was working fine when I turned it off. This afternoon 'No Signal' on all channels! We have a roof antenna, but could not find paperwork on who we had install our antenna. We have an old tv down in the basement that still has channels but not the main one we watch in our living room. What could be going on??We are perplexed and we don't know of anyone who can come to look at it. Why are there No Signals? thanks

I am 1 1/2 miles from two local uhf channels I receive data but no picture. I have no problems with uhf or vhf channels that are further away . There is a cell phone tower 1/2 mile from house but no real pixilation on other channels. Could the signal be so strong it is overloading the receiver and if so what can be done
Could be LTE interference. Try an LTE filter: amzn.to/36eYVfu
hi Tyler my tv flicker when my toe kick heater turns on or off does it on all tvs whetherb hooked up to attic antenna or individual antenna please advise
I live in a apartment I can't put my antenna out on the roof
A lot of different factors for pixelation and 'no signal'
Thank you have learned so much have a question have a good outdoor antenna have been receiving good signal for over a year - the last month or so getting no signal at all on any question - can my antenna just stop is it dead ? Thank you in advance
Is it the cheap outdoor antenna with the rotor built into it?
I didn’t think it was cheap lol but yes has a motor on it -
@Sharon Tuttle-Schroeder that is exactly the reason why I tell people not to buy that model. Your preamp has failed on it and it's as if the antenna is not even connected at all.
If you provide me your ZIP code I can recommend a decent model that will work for your area. I think the current antenna is trash right now.
Thank you 53405
Whats a good indoor an outdoor antenna for 20708? What do I need to split signals to 6 tvs?
I now offer antenna recommendations for a small fee at the link below. One from me can prevent you from spending hundreds of dollars and time wasted on setting up the wrong antenna for your area. antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
Can you put 2 amplifiers on 1 antenna? Will it conflict if you do?
No it will likely overload the signals. If you are trying to improve reception your best bet is to get a better antenna
I apologize I meant to say no in the last reply
what would be a good antenna for my area. I am in a low area in Fayetteville, NC and my house butts up against a forest. Also I bought one of those 150 mile antennas and find that it is very directional. Is there an omni-directional antenna that would work better.
Did you buy the antenna with the built-in rotor? I just made a video on it. The antenna is JUNK. An omni directional antenna has less range than directional antennas and would likely not work as well.
@@AntennaMan I have stations coming from two different directions. what would you suggest

51.4 is supposed to be Me-TV Toons. Maybe it didn't change until this morning.
@AntennaMan
I called the channel it's not ready for release yet
I live within 3 miles of a large TV antenna farm, yet all 3 of my tvs display pixelization at some time or another. have tried several different antenna models, without improvement. Any ideas?
You are probably using junk antenna models. Try this Clearstream model. amzn.to/2WDQUyx Also use antennaweb.org as a resource to determine the appropriate direction to point the antenna towards the towers.
@ Antenna Man. I have a internet plus cable tv package and had pixelation problems. I found out that the coaxial cable connecting from the router to the cable tv box (modem) was causing the problem. However, after replacing the coaxial cable it would only work for a few weeks then pixelation will come back. I replaced the coaxial cable 4x already and the pixelation came back again. What must have causing this problem?
Sounds like you need a better antenna setup
@Nestor Gorgonio . . . are you using RG59 or RG6 as your replacement coaxial cable? The RG6 would be the better one as it has shielding that the RG59 does not have.
Yes, I need help with recommendations on an antenna. I live in rural Ahoskie, NC 27910. I love Greenville, NC news channels and I so close to the VA line I will mainly get Norfolk, Va programs n that fine but I want both. Greenville, NC and Norfolk, VA are both 50-60 miles away....thanks for your help n recoomendations
It may be hard to get channels from both markets since the stations from Greenville are very weak. What antenna are you currently using?
@@AntennaMan one of those crap antennas outside on a pole approx.15ft high. One of those aluminum looking things...I was gonna chg. To a rg6 cable but this one u cant change. I can get Greenville, NC sometimes...I just need something more consistent. I only watch TV in the evenings cause I'm away working. Also, I live with my mom to care for here n she has direct TV...would her dish interfer with my reception? I can send u pics later of the setup...if needed. I dont think there is any installers around this area either

14626 I bought the Clearstream 2max but have it inside I would like to put it on my roof but not sure how to ground. Only getting 19 channels and missing one I really want
You'll likely have to mount it outside to get that additional channel. I'll be making a video on how to properly ground an antenna in the coming weeks. In the meantime you can see how to with this guide:

The Channel Master website recommended their Omni+ 50 antenna for my location, zip code 61866, but I can't find any reviews for this antenna except on the Channel Master website. I tend to not trust reviews on a company's website and would have liked to have found independent reviews of this Omni+ 50 antenna on Amazon.com or some other website besides the Channel Master website.
Is this Omni+ 50 antenna any good or not? Thanks.
I cannot test any omni antennas since the signals are too weak in my area to use one and I do not have enough channel support (donations) I'd say the channel master one would likely work better. If you browse on their website you'll see there are some bad reviews of certain models so they shouldn't be filtering anything.

43701 would love to get columbus ohio tv but hills in the way and 60 miles away . it may be a waste of money to get even the best antenna . will the new format for broadcasting coming next year help me get those stations . also anyway to get locast on roku that would be awesome . thanks for your time
Reception from Columbus is possible but you will need a decent antenna mounted outdoors. Try this channel master model. It should bring you in at least a few stations from Columbus.
amzn.to/2K99cld
You can find a list of mounts here:
www.amazon.com/shop/antennaman?listId=WC4S8JKO3XA2
Locast should have an app for Roku you can download but it's very glitchy.
Antenna Man - I looked at LOCAST as an alternative. But the built in location via IP address (or anti spoofing location) software did not allow me to activate.
Winegard 8200u,antennas direct db8e.i can pick up columbus using the 8200u from 43907.db8e similar results but not good for vhf.i have a few vhf around me so i am using 8200u at the present time.i get Pittsburgh and youngstown with it as well.am using a rotor mounted 32 ft in the air.good luck
I have a rca yagi! Is it the best for 32003 area?

I live 3 miles from the TV station and I get a No Signal some days and comes in clear on others. Why does that happen?
You likely are using a junk antenna from Walmart or amazon. Those do not work well. refer to my UA-cam channel for antenna reviews or sign up for a custom antenna recommendation on my website
@@AntennaMan thank you for the reply
My signals drop in the day and come back at night. Not all channels just a few that I want to see. Figures huh. I cannot place a outdoor antenna here i live in apartment zip code is near bartleville ok.

Outdoor or attic mount for 36863?
Depending on where you are in town you might be able to get away with an antenna in the attic but most likely it will have to go outdoors. You have a low VHF station so I recommend this antenna. Not many have low VHF elements on them.

Hi Tyler. I live in the 21154 area any suggestions for an outdoor antenna?
Your stations are very weak but this RCA model should work. Point it SW towards Baltimore. amzn.to/2WuUUx5
If you are looking for something more powerful than the RCA I would suggest this Channel Master as well but maybe start with the medium sized RCA and if that does not work try the Channel Master below.
amzn.to/2MNOHMS
Antenna Man Thanks Tyler. I know it’s going to be a challenge because I am close to the Pa line and in the country, but going to give it a try.
40456 I only get PBS channel 29. I live in an aptment right beside a school. Only can use indoor antina. Thanks
Your signals are very weak and likely will not be picked up reliable from inside. If you can only use an indoor antenna your best chance at reception is this ClearStream model:
amzn.to/2WDQUyx
If you have an HOA that is restricting your access to mount an antenna on your house federal law overrides their restrictions. Let me know if that's the case and I'll point you in the direction on what to do next.
