The secret is to play the character completely seriously. No matter how ludicrous the words coming out of his mouth, he plays it straight, like Leslie Nielsen in "Airplane". If he played it for laughs, it wouldn't be believable.
I love that they let the skit go. I feel like they would have normally ended it after Red said he needs a girlfriend. It works better if you just let Gord go, and Red and Harold just try and comprehend what he's talking about
@InsanelyINsane He did, but only for the one episode where the character appeared. He was supposed to appear in a second episode, but he couldn't get a work visa in time for the taping of that particular episode, so that's why they had to hire a different actor for it.
@@ianfinrir8724 In season 7 he moves into the lodge after he ran out of creamed corn and had to eat the front 2 legs of his tower (which is why he is at the lodge for this clip, he found another tower in season 8). He then found out he had been laid off 17 years previously but the post office lost the letter with his pink slip.
How Peter Keleghan does this bit without cracking up and stays perfectly serious is awe-inspiring.

@@OofusTwillip I agree. I was impressed at him not breaking character at all.
Just remember, snakes are as afraid of us, as we are of Ranger Gord.
Ranger Gord: the outdoors boy bimbo--he looks good but there's NOTHING between his ears. My favorite Red Green Show character. ;-)
This will always be funny.
These guys are the best!
Best part of any "Ask The Experts" is when Harold does what he does at 00:13.
This is my all time favorite clip from the show - thanks for uploading!
God this is hysterical! Also just got my friend request accepted by Peter Keleghan on FB today!
"it has long yellow stripes and is sharp at one end."

Did Ranger Gord ever receive any of his pay checks? lol
I think they mentioned at one point that Gord hasn't been paid in five years.

Ranger Gord is a...confused individual.
He spends too much time by himself in a watchtower.
