Definitely earned a subscriber! Been looking for something like this for ages, most of the tutorials were really sloppy and didn't work but this explained it really well and managed to work first try, thank you!
Not every time you come across a tutorial by a guy who tells you the LITERAL EXACT THING YOU NEED CLEARLY AND CONSISLEY. Congrats on 10 subs bruv and thank you
A good tutorial. Just added this feature to a sword on my avatar, works great. It seems like it jitters a bit in its dropped position.... but still stays in place.
it will look like its jittering to you but if its set up right it will look fine to others. You'll get the jitter in mirrors and cameras as well, just VRC things with how constraints work lol
@@jaypsychotic Thanks for your reply. I looked again and it's pretty clear that my prop moves slightly when I move around. It's not just jitter. And other players confirm that it moves. And it's exactly 0.5 proportionally to my avatar's movement. *EDIT:* I deleted it and remade it again from scratch, and now it works. I think what I was missing was another empty object on top of the hierarchy. So: ...Avatar ...|___ Empty_Object1 (was missing this) ..........|___ World_Target ..........|___ World_Constraint (Rotation+Position constraints to "World_Target") .................|___ Hand_Constraint (Parent constraint to "Hand_Target") ........................|___ Empty_Object2 ...............................|___ My_Sword_Prop
That's a great tutorial, very useful. Also I didn't know about constraints, to move an object from my back to my hand I use two instances of the object and hide/show. Maybe I'll try to refactor that to use constraints :-).
Having trouble whereby setting the values for the constraint and source weights seems to cause the x position of the game object itself to become un-zeroed and unable to be rezero'd, have tested this on two avatars and it causes my prop to rotate with my head rotation. Any ideas?
so how do you make a prop that other people can grab and hold, i have a soda case model and everything is rigged up already but it's the animations i have to do.
thank you!! all the other tutorials i watched were going way to fast or weren't doing what i was looking for. super appreciate it, finally figured it out!
This is awesome! Thanks for the great tutorial Jay!

thaank yooou !
Can you plz show how to make one with a bed or a sofa as a world drop
You'd use the exact same set up but under your prop make some GameObjects with vrc stations on them
when toggling the constraint, my object goes to the worlds center
