My tape is formatted, but the display seems stuck on "DATA/LEADER" and I can't get it to show me a time code, therefore the record function won't work. Reading the manual seemed to say that using "set locate - 0, 1, or 2" should do that, but it doesn't work. Or worked once then stopped. Any ideas?
Each track only records 1 mono signal … so you could record 8 different songs, but mono …. On a tape of 42 minutes , depending on the length of the songs … many 😂 For a 4 minutes long song, you can record 10 songs in just one track … (mono) as the ADAT has 8 channels 12 x 8 = 96 songs …. For stereo you divide that number by 2 , ~ 48 songs of 4 minutes ….

Can you only record only 1 song on a track ? How many song’s can you record on each of the 8 tracks
Depends on the length of the tape you use. A standard tape will get you about 42 minutes of record time

is there a difference in the quality of vocal recording on adata instead of a computer. Recording vocals to a computer in the digital domain is ugly.

Should be identical, same Herz. I think ADAT has a warmer sound.
