I love this band. The Line is a truly impressive debut album, and the soundtrack they did for Kingdom: Two Crowns is completely different and absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait for this one. Been following them since 2020 and it's great to see their audience steadily growing. Thanks for a great reaction.
I will see Kalandra live this year for the first time! Can't wait! Their previous song "The state of the world" is so beautiful, too. The melody and the lyrics 😍
Great reaction, Tauri! I love this band, and this song and music video are great. You're right, it's very creepy and cultish. I liked your Midsommar reference. Although I didn't care for that film at all, I totally get what you're saying about this music video giving off that vibe.
When I saw first time the Kalandra video, I had the immediate Midsommar movie association too. Although I live in the Nordic country which celebrates midsummer and it is (usually ;) not like at all as in the film, but it was clever idea for the horror film, and I think it was actually very good movie in its genre.
I'm looking forward to the album, such good stuff. A couple more Nordic folk groups to check out: Tvinna and Sounds of Maer. Tvinna is from Laura Fell, who also sings with Faun. "Two Staves" or "The Gore" are good introductions. Sounds of Maer only have 2 songs out, but they are stunning. They masterminds are Anna Murphy, who was the lead singer for Eluveitie 10 years, and now of Cellar Darling, and Mariana Semkina, who you recently heard with Blackbriar on "Moonflower". "Sister" is extremely haunting.
When I come to the video, the main intention is to analyze you, contextualizing it with the music, with the band's performance! And here, right from the start, it’s beautiful to see their anticipation when they start to “build” the chorus! You open that beautiful smile of satisfaction and joy! And watching it in slower rotation, the expectation in the eyes stands out more, the search for what is happening, and what becomes in the end! Facial and body expressions show me what you are seeing, hearing and feeling! Through you I understand the musical context, and in your final observation I am sure of what I saw and heard! Regarding the musical theme, a lot of symbolism throughout the context! There is a mix of pagan worship, esoteric sect, and initiation into a certain philosophy of life in the presentation! Why immersion baptism? Come in and participate, or not? I wonder how they built this scenario based on the lyrics? What final message do they want to convey? Man! I have countless questions! It piqued my curiosity! Aiaiaiai! This is a challenge for you Tauri, in your first interview with this musical group! Here's the request! Kiss in your heart! ❤️🌷🫶
She is also a backing vocalist in Wardruna. They did an amazing cover of Helvegen. I saw them open for Warduna in 2022 on their EU tour.
I saw them once live, opening for Monuments and Leprous and they were great live !!!

Great band.
Love your analyse's ❤
Her voice reminds me a lot of Leigh Nash, from Sixpence None The Richer... very smooth and calm
I love the stuff Leigh did with Delerium
Love your collar 🖤
„Evil“ Kalandra are so cool :)
The verses are a conversation, cult - girl - cult - girl - cult/girl together

Her style of singing is a little bit similar to Zora from Blackbriar or not? Even though Zora has a higher voice
Somewhat similar, quite like Eivør or Kate Bush too
