Scott, stay strong, you always speak from your heart and share your bottle knowledge with us all. I am certainly not in your league, I get excited finding just a cool old bottle out digging with my sister. Life is too short, do what you want, what you know and keep having fun.👍👏😀

Scott there are many ways to steel things without getting shot. One way is to make a low-ball offer and hope the owner is to desperate or ignorant to resist. I've dug many years in Savannah and have quite a nice collection myself. I have never sold a good bottle that I did not miss and wish I had back again. When you sell something the item is then lost to you. Then you spend the money and end up being poorer than you were with neither money nor bottle. Keep the good and sell the bad and the extras you won't miss.

We all know this would go for a crazy amount at auction......and we all know you will never sell it anyway. Keep getting the finds of a lifetime.

10 grand or 20 grand in trade is what I would ask. Make sure you keep photos floating around so everyone can see it. Maybe have the local news do a story on it. Good luck!! Love your videos

If it’s the only known bottle, you can sell it for as much as you want. I still think it’s 10,000 or more

2008 red book no 10 list cobalt blue for 18 to 20k. Spurgin just sold one for 36k the good stuff always goes up. When they built the old stadium in Cincinatti so much cobalt sodas came out the price hit the bricks but has recovered. I do have a only known perfume bottle in the world, highly unlikely anyone will ever see it, the price only goes up. Hagenball is the ultimate auction on the east coast as you know. If you don't get what you want don't sell it, it is money in the bank plus interest.

Pricing and selling is complicated, usually the ppl ragging on a posted price are those who want to acquire it for much less. You know your bottles, stand your ground. You’ve done your research.

  • @Powerhead1000
    @Powerhead1000 4 місяці тому +1

Sir, you are one of the hardest “Searchers” I’ve ever come across. You deserve whatever you want to ask for that flask. You put in the actual work of researching, searching for, working hard for and finding bottles. You go halfway across this country looking for bottles. You also put your ass at risk searching in some shady ass areas. Many times you don’t come up with much more than some bleeding fingers. (Because you seldom wear gloves, lol)
Ask for what you want for it and don’t settle for less. If the money isn’t right then hold it. Someone will come along.
Keep the content coming and keep digging My Brother!!

Congratulations on digging that extremely RARE flask Scott! Don’t let anyone bring you down. Nay-sayers will always criticize & demean. Your flask is awesome. Your flask is rare. After my 25 years of digging in counnnntlesss holes/privies in NC, I darn sure don’t have one in my collection. And If I had the extra cash, I’d darn sure buy it & put it in my collection. It’s an awesome & rare bottle. Period.

I appreciate your hard work. I imagine you suffer from all of that digging. But I know the rush you feel when finding something as I have picked garages & attics being the first to make any offers on things that caught my eye.
That being said I live in n area where their are few bottles to be found (NH)
Please tell me where I can find some of your bottles for sale.
    Thanks
    Much Respect.

That bottle is worth the 10k, it is one of a kind which makes it both valuable and hard to sell. There are none like it to compare to so it might just be one that has to stay in your collection until the right buyer sees it. I have allot of interesting one of a kind things and they are hard to sell because I value my time and effort in finding them and will not accept low ball offers.

You found not only a rare flask, but an important one...not many can say that! It's really hard to put an accurate value on something that rare, however condition is also very important. I think the base chip hurts it, and overall scuzziness. With that said, putting it out there at a high price might not have been the best way to sell it. Perhaps offering it purely on a "make offer" basis would have been a better way to go. Like it or not, there is a psychology to selling, and the perception of "I had better grab this before someone else does" is what you need. Unfortunately you may have to sit on it, keep it totally on the down low for awhile, then re-introduce it to serious NC collectors. If someone is truly passionate about NC glass, I can't believe they wouldn't be doing whatever it takes to add that to their collection. Good luck.

if you've been digging bottles for a long time you may have come across a few rare ones they may be local or even a well known one's which is a different version of any others you have found. they will set the own value. sell it to the highest bidder.
