Calling d2r watered down makes no sense to me. Its the same game with updated graphics. Is this PD2?

I don't really like it when they remake old games that have always been good enough, unless they are so old they are too uncomfortable to play today, like Warcraft 1. But I find it strange to say D2R is easier because some bugs were fixed, and therefore the original game is better... So should the developers not fix bugs (not even in the original game?) just to make it harder for expert gamers?

D2R is very different, much easier in general, you got nexthitbug fixed, that alone is huge, especially with melee. You got sunder charms, you got fast levelup with terrorzones, you got capped uber minion spawn, well you do not have swapcast anymore, but overall d2r is easy compered to lod 1.14d.
