I absolutely loved this series…I’ve watched it 5 times! Emily and Chaske had such wonderful chemistry together that I could not even imagine anyone else playing those characters. Every movie that I have seen and loved so much that I would watch it again and again always had an amazing score accompanying it…THE ENGLISH soundtrack is among the top scores I’ve ever heard accompanying any movie or series!
Best 6 parter I've seen. On every level. This is stunning and unique and a must see. I'm not going to write something intelligent about it, just watch it.
'The English' hits deep in the same way seeing Dances with Wolves did in the theater for the first time. I remember how a 3hr movie was so rare the talk of it was how it would be too long for people. But this was proven to not be true at all when a tale is so poignant and meaningful that it can literally make time stand still. And that was true of 'The English' too. I was so pulled in I absorbed the full series of 6 episodes in one day. It hit so deep in my soul I felt gut punched at times and mournful at other times and completely always invested in the journey of the two main character souls that were clearly brought together by destiny. Particularly moving is the tale behind Chaske Spencer character as the Native American Soldier Scout Guide. His is a story that needed to be told in all its' painful layering depths without polishing over or Hollywood glorifying that role in anyway. As was the ugly fact that the US had psychotic soldiers doing what we'd call today horrific 'war crimes'. All in the name of their military that was already often cold-hearted and unconcerned with the indigenous people as a whole. A truth we should never forget as there were too many different dishonorable situations within: the "clearing" of the land, the Native American children "schools" and the Native Americans that served the US military. And through all of this heavy layering content, a clear love story builds in the most beautiful way between Chaske Spencer and Emily Blunts lead characters. The two of them alone carry you through with love in your own heart for them and the deep connection they discover in the power of being united through this journey.
Chaske was absolutely amazing in his role.
Finished watching "The English" last night and I'm still not over it. It's stark and merciless and still heartbreaking.

Can't believe how much this series moved me. The two main characters really draw you in, they feel so authentic just amazing . Loved it.
Best thing I've seen on TV for many, many years.

Good show, Hope for a season 2. :)
